Keyes Trial Complete!

I didn't expect to successfully complete the new Keyes trial in the first week of it going live, much less the first day, but there I was this morning, with my Brute showing off the Keyes Technician badge after my first try! And I had no previous experience with the trial from beta, and neither did most of the league.

Really, the trial sounds complicated, but like all the trials, if you just follow directions and stay on task, it's pretty simple. We took down Anti-Matter with less than 2 minutes on the clock, and it was all a lot of fun.

Thanks Paragon!

I completed it twice; had an aborted run because Anti Matter got stuck in a ramp and wouldn't move anywhere. The trial is not hard, it just requires people to listen carefully and follow instructions... which can be more challenging than facing 40 AVs at once.

I am very much not looking forward to the Master of Badge for this one...

How does the XP for this one count? Is is physical or...the other one (psychic?)?

AntiMatter got stuck in one of our runs too, but we managed to get him out by getting his attention and hiding behind objects. Took about 3-4 minutes of him trying to move toward us when he finally got free. And we could finish the trial without problems after that.

So half of each? That sucks if all you have open is one or the other.

Got the Anti-Anti-Matter Badge earlier this evening. I'm not actually a badge collector, but that challenge was immensely fun! Everybody stepped up their game and took it to the next level!

I've been on two Keyes Trials and both were a success. It seems like a very good trial for players looking to earn IXP with all the ADDs you have to defeat in order to stabilize the reactors. As time passes I am confident people will devise strategies that will make completion a simple task.. For now its a good challenge and good fun.

A couple things to keep in mind.. expect to die a few times or more. The Pulse does exactly what people say it does.. 50% of your health disappears in one shot and all it takes is one slight miscalculation and you are face down. When building the league try to find a few good Defenders or Controllers with the ability to heal and having along a few with rebirth as their Destiny power choice helps a lot as well (but without questioning every member that joins a league knowing what they have is impossible). STICK together and follw instructions.

Lastly.. while you will find it impossible not to .. try TRY TRY not to attack Anti Matter. Just as stated the more he gets hit and the lower his health the stronger the pulse attacks become. You are going to do SOME damage to him.... the last two reactors require him to be taunted to every console in order to power them up. I personally hit him several times with my Fire/Fire Blaster after finishing off the last of the defense troops around a power station. But the less damage he takes the less you do... if you have team mates that cant understand that .. fire on them for a while LOL

Good luck .... and enjoy the new trial

Run once, completed once. Never again. Thankfully the game and RNG felt sorry enough to give me the Rare I needed for my third T3 for the +3 level boost.

Giant auto-hit pulses? Pets being effectively useless because Bots are AoE heavy and we need to NOT hurt Anti-Matter? Dying in two shots from Vicky's spamming eye lolazers? Stuffed full of so many gimmicks trying to be 'cool' and 'challenging' and just being annoying?

KIR can go back to Beta, for all I care for it. Even Lambda is more fun than that, and I really dislike Lambda.

I all but but gave up until fighting Antimatter. My Grav/FF who is great, was useless. Pulses killed my Hp easy, and even in PFF the Vicks of doom could Critical 1 shot me with ranged lazer eyes taking off what ever the pulses would not take.

Even popping purples like House pops pills I generally had no place on the trial.

Well..except people assumed I was doing something because now with AOE buffs I could actually hit a group of people with bubbles where as before Id prolly die just targeting one person.

Although I dislike the trials as they stand, the others are no way near as annoying as this one. Not really keen to do this one again either.

And this too. I find the multiple use of gimmicks to just be annoying. Doubly so if you're squishy.

Anti-matter's twirling and ranting in the cutscene was awesome - and I loved how he referenced our earlier victories at the BAF and Lambda, while dissing his fellow Praetorian Gaurd

Also, I like the way there were a few subtle hints from him that he might kinda interested in Dominatrix.

Actually /FF have a fairly unique ability in KIR. The terminals don't need the warworks defeated to work. They need them out of range of the terminal. Force Bubble and repulsion work to move the warworks out of the way without really being able to affect AM.

Pulses are Health % based, so it's less so that the pulse kills you directly, it's the other incidental damage kills you quickly, it still sucks.

Control playsets in general are going to get frustrated with the final phase because it's pretty much single target convergence. However, in the first three phases, don't undersell your forcefield contributions. Everyone complains about Vicky, and you're helping keep them from getting insta-gibbed by her.

I'm liking this trial more than the other two, myself. I had a question, but didn't feel it was worthy of its own thread.

Did anyone take note of how much of a difference Alpha and Beta entanglement makes? It's an interesting mechanic that I'd like to counter by splitting up, but convincing a league to do that is going to be difficult if it makes next to no difference.

8Damage/tick/person in range with opposite charge. At worst 12 people [unlikely] or 92 dmg/tick. Can hurt, but with the melee pit, it's usually more important to surround AntiMatter in your dogpiling than necessarily all stacking up on the tank.

But, ya, really not too important to worry about Entanglement.

I can't wait to give this a try but I won't have time until tomorrow or possibly Sunday. UGH.

It's lots of fun - Anti-matter feels like a major supervillain pulling out all the stops to try and defeat us.

It makes me wonder what tricks Tyrant and the Hamidon will have available to them when we confront them

Was on a team last night that completed KIR; what a run!

My tanker died once, and the leader (sorry, terrible with remembering names) did a fantastic job of leading us through the phases.

It was dynamic, intense and chock full of the feel that at any moment, from start to finish, we could fail this thing simply due to the mechanics of the trial (not from the leadership or team's abilities), yet the team did a great job and we got to the end and got our badge and an uncommon choice.

I'm sure with time, we'll have this trial's mechanics mastered to the point we do with the other two trials, but I gotta admit, the 'pucker' factor on this one made it interesting.

Also a great source of iXP.

I'm not a huge fan of the trials, but I think this one rates a positive rating.

I'll preface this by saying I am not a huge fan of the trials. They are OK, but I can only do each one maybe 2-4 times per week, otherwise I get burned out on them.

I ran KIT twice last night. The first time, the leader knew what they were doing, but did a bad job of communicating to the team. We completed the trial while never in much danger of failing, but for me it was just a total confusing mess for the most part. After it was over, I formed the opinion that it was about the dumbest thing in the game.

But, I try to give everything a fair chance so I ran it again. The leader on this one basically stopped communicating at the second reactor, we were all running around like idiots, dying repeatedly, and I thought one a few occassions that we would certainly fail it. Somehow, we pulled through at the very end of each stage. We started to figure out just what the hell we were supposed to do to finish each stage including AM, who we defeated with about 1:15 left on the clock.

This second run was just about the most fun I've had in this game in the last 6 years.
