Time Manipulation

Discuss.

-What do you think it will be?

With it only being mentioned as to come in i21, I am wondering what the playerbase will think it will be like!

I think the set will be all about slowing things down and speeding stuff up. Might have a heal power based around moving the bar back to where it was, as if damage never hit. Possibly even the buffing powers will grant +Recovery +Regenration +Recharge

Wonder how many Gravity/Time controllers we will see ! :O

POWERS

  • Temporal Selection - Buff to Ally , other powers in this set enhanced attributes.
  • Chrono Shift - some type of buff, apparently does healing
  • Distortion Field - ?
  • Time Crawl- slow, reduce accuracy of enemies
The powers in the set all work together, so if you were to use Temporal Selection and then Chrono Shift it would be improved and do more buffing. (In other words, and something currently in the game, Power Siphon-style stuff!)

With nothing beyond the name there's little to go on.

Random wild speculation: a long recharge pet summons power that uses the doppleganger tech to summon one or more "temporal duplicates of you from alternate timelines". If they want to make it stand out, that would do it.

I find that unlikely, OB. It's a Defender Primary, Controller/Corruptor/Mastermind Secondary, which means it's a buff/debuff set. I suspect that it will mostly focus on speed affecting effects. Slows, recharge buffs, maybe a hold.

I bet it is a power set that focuses on Manipulating Time.

Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.

We know at least ONE power is a large aura of some kind, based on the picture... I'm convinced, based on the color, that it's a heal or +regen aura. We also know the set is buffs AND debuffs (the description on the I21 page says its helps your allies and hinders your foes).

Here's what kinds of abilities (not specific powers) would be thematically fitting, in no particular order:

Ally + speed/recharge/recovery/regen
Foe -speed/recharge/recovery/regen
ally + defense (speeding them up to dodge bullets and whatnot)
foe - defense (opposite effect)
some kind of mass hold or intangible
Ally Rez
Someone in another thread mentioned either granting or removing level shifts... sounds rather OP but also really cool.

...overall, i'm a bit distressed because if Time manipulation is as cool as it has the potential to be, a */Time controller is gonna be my new main character, supplanting my Mind/Kin =(

-STEELE =)

Allied to all sides so that no matter what, I'll come out on top!
Oh, and Crimson demands you play this arc-> Twisted Knives (MA Arc #397769)

Would be cool though.... for MM's at least.

In other words, like Dark Miasma - which has Dark Servant, a pet summons.

How 'bout something that grants your allies a random incarnate power effect to simulate sending them into the future where they are more powerful/etc...

I've got my money on the self-duplicates as well. Zwillinger says it's really cool and given the recent new tech in this game I wouldn't doubt that it will a be power you get in the late levels.

That being said, somewhat off-topic but not, I re-sub every month manually because my play time is quite sporadic, since my account is active now, will I be getting my 400 points and the new power set since it will be active through July 1st? It would suck big, big bouncy balls if I don't get it.

I wonder how it'll work with pets as the don't get any effect from recharge boost. Would seem to shaft MM's a bit.

Does seem to step on the kin's powerset which is speed boosts and damage boosts. Will be interesting to see.

As far as I understand it you should get the rewards since you're paying monthly.

Thank you Neo. I'd give you some rep if it still existed!

If you have Time Manipulation are you automatically invited to Oroborous? You're effectively a walking time travel mission wherever you go...

Scrapper Jack (SJ/WP Brute), Sky Commando (WP/SJ Tanker), Curveball (Rad/DP Defender), and a bunch more.

Looking at the most recent powersets the devs have made, they seem to be designing them to be unique playing experiences. I think they'll try to make it different from the other buff/debuff powersets so, while it'll probably have speed buffs and slows, I think they'll try to avoid stepping on Kinetics' toes.

I can see it having a hold and a "turn back the clock" rez power seems like a no brainer. They also seem to give all the new powersets a signature ability that makes it play differently than other sets (ex: Shield Charge, Swap Ammo, etc). Who knows what that could be for Time Manipulation?

A pet would seem overpowered... but I wonder about a Gang War-type power... nah, not if this will be a Mastermind secondary.

You won't get the bonus for being subbed on the 1st. You'll get the bonus at the beginning of each billing cycle that starts after the 1st. So if your account renews on the 3rd, you get nothing on the 1st and bank 400 points on the 3rd. If you instead let your account lapse, and reactivated on the 5th, you'd get the bonus on the 5th instead.

I know its a vain hope but I hope that it removes the interrupt, from all powers with interrupts, for all team members. That would mean that my Arch/Dev/Munitions might actually not suck on a team.

I would think there would be debuffs in the form of "aging" the targets.

Level 50s: to many to remember at this point

Aging your target .. turning them into dinosaurs. Earth/Time .. The Paleontologist ? :-P

RE:Haggard
IF the set does have an Ally-Revive, maybe it will revive them with all their toggles/buffs back on? That'd be cool.

RE:OB
I don't think we will have a character clone as the summonable pet. That would be too overpowered. This is why we don't have that option as a lore pet. But.. it would be so flipping cool if we could!

I suspect...

A positional defense AOE shield ala Force Field Generator and Dispersion Bubble. No typed defense, as it wouldn't make sense with Time Manipulation (imo anyways). Possibly with a S/L Resist as a way of lessening the blow of such physical attacks.

An AOE regen or heal ability.

Then a lot of slows and +RCH.

Maybe some -Defense.

Then a -regen power.

And I like the idea of Summon Duplicates. Doesn't even have to have the same powers, it can be akin to Phantom Army, but the doubles just look like the character.

I have a feeling whoever dream this up is a Doctor Who's fan, or at very least enjoy watching and has watched it more than once. TM is a support set. So, if my feeling turns out to be right, we can start imagining what the good Doctor would do with his time vortex in defeating his enemies.

Come to think of it, it would be really cool if they had random powersets like the Flawed Clone in the villainside Defeat Ajax mission.

My first thought is that they should rename it. Cold Domination already is an annoying name that sounds like it should be a Dominator set. Do not use the blaster secondary naming convention for a buff/debuff set; think consistent user experience, consistent user experience, consistent user experience.

Time
Time Guide/Guiding
Time Mastery
Time Command
Time Supremacy
Time Wielding
Time Handling

I am also sad that the game already has 13 buff/debuff sets, and yet that is where a new set is being added instead of adding new blaster/dominator secondaries.

Why Blasters? Empathy Sucks.
So, you want to be Mental?
What the hell? Let's buff defenders.

Are you describing Trapdoor's ability? Biferocation or whatever that is called? The one where Trapdoor occupies 2 points in the same time and space creating a weaker version for fighting and healing for the main version? That would be an interesting ability. Particularly if you could grant it to a single other player. I wonder what would happen if such a thing was dropped on a Illusion Controller or a thug mastermind. Twice the pet army for a time?
