Yeah, there are a ton of good arcs out there and not all of them are by WN.

Though the arcs were picked by the community, they were all presented by one person in this thread. Bubba did say they were from the Player's Choice contest, but you're assuming the community team fully understands what that means. Remember: they're not neck-deep in our sub-community like we are.

I can understand them mixing up the order; they need to be sensitive to the perspective of the general community player (which is who they are trying to attract with this event). And to them, it looks like they've only picked suggestions from 2 people so far.

Not to mention, there are already roughly 60 arcs suggested, so people who didn't post in the first week or still want to recommend arcs probably feel like it's a futile endeavor to have their suggestion played at this point.

It sucks that her arc was skipped this week, but WN shouldn't take it personally. Are PW and Igor Blimey taking issue with being skipped, too? Doubtful. It's only seen that way with WN because she already thinks they're avoiding her work.

Relax, her work is top notch and we all know it's deserving of DC. It's just going to take more time.

They provided prizes for the PC Awards and awarded forum titles. I think they are aware.

This is amusing fanboi rhetoric considering the history of ignoring years of DC suggestions and the crazy number of times certain arcs (like the one skipped) have been recommended before.

You mean a person that already has a DC and the other arc that is already in HoF? Also, you fail to mention that she was the only person to win two PC awards this past years and BOTH were skipped over. Not to say the others should have been skipped, but i doubt it's as big a deal to them. Also, to be honest, considering the personal stuff she is going though with her son atm, it seemed particularly heartless even though I'm certain that was not the intent.

Well, there is one thing we can agree on.

This I canNOT agree on!

I don't know why the devs aren't going DC-crazy with all these good arcs we've tossed at them - have they played one yet that wasn't worthy of a DC? Wouldn't it behoove them to build up as large a DC-arc library to try and show people "good arcs that aren't broken or give less than stellar XP because they were never updated"?

Do that, change up the search window some and you'd have a chance to pull the AE up out of the 'only good for brute's farming' tailspin of ignorance that the majority of players are stuck in.

Then again, we know where the devs' real love lies right now and probably will for a long time : 'end-game content'. This is why I'm glad to even have mere bones tossed our way, things could be worse, they might not be throwing anything at us at all.

I would rather have nothing than mere pro forma token support. The former is honest.

Did you ever stop to consider that maybe they skipped hers and the others because they've already added them to the DC bank?

Maybe that's too 'glass half full' but I don't see the doom here.

Eeeee~ I'm glad you enjoyed it.

(Not that there isn't a good reason for the lack of visual variety between the enemies. *cough* >.>)

Actually now that I think of it, I suppose I'm going to have to update the arc come I21...replace Gravity Control on the bosses with Time Manipulation. Mental note made.

I see how you could infer that there will only be 1 DC per month from quote above, but I took it to mean they could mark any number of arcs as a DC once a month. In other words, "once a month" refers to the time they make the choices, not the # of arcs chosen.

Or it could also mean that they choose 1 a month from the pool of previously qualifying played arcs which includes ones played in previous months.

It would be a complete disservice to arbitrarily eliminate a DC-worthy arc from future consideration simply because they played another DC-worthy arc in the same month but only chose 1 at the time. That's just silly.
I was actually inferring it from Aeon's comment in the Becky's Revenge gets a DC' thread:

Quote:

but I see that this doesn't strictly state that the already-played arcs are now out of the running.

However, if they're playing 4-5 per month and only awarding 1 per month,, well, do the math. By the end of the year we'll have 5 new DCs and 20-odd arcs which have been played with no DC. A big problem I see with that is that without a 'yes/no' indication, those authors are left hanging, forever, possibly. How long is the back-burner? If Fear and Loathing on Striga has no DC by December, is it still on the list? At the end of next year, we'll have 17 new DCs and 68-85 arcs in a 'is it worthy of DC or not?' limbo.

It might have been fairer for this to have been delivered in a more clear manner, ie "We played [arc X] this week, and we have decided to award it a DC Yay!' or 'We played [arc X] this week, and although it has many merits, we feel it doesn't quite fit into the very best., so we won't be awarding it a DC'

That would obviously engender 'discussion', butat least the authors would know where they stood.

Eco.

Oh come on now. That's sad and I feel for her, but that's not even worth bringing up. There's no way for the developers to have known that unless she's been PMing them details about her personal life. Even then, that has no bearing on whether her arcs fit the criterion for being a Dev's Choice: whether the developers think they're great.

Since, my comment went over your head let me rephrase: I was basically saying the timing was pretty crappy and I felt bad for that even though it was not anyone's fault. Got it now?

Second, where oh where was it mentioned that anything had an impact on if an arc was DC'd? We were wondering about why some arcs were suddenly skipped over in the order, not about which arcs should or shouldn't be dc'd. Geez...

My question about the newly awarded DC is...has this been announced in-game? One of the primary problems concerning AE arcs is advertising. Since it's known that the forum community is not everyone in the game, some sort of MOTD/admin message would make sense.

Hello everyone!

Yesterday, I hopped onto Zukunft and played "The Ziggurat Taskforce" by Dark Eye. Fun was had by all, as we rushed into the Zig to ... uh ... reacquaint inmates with their cells and retrieve barrels of a special breed of Superadine! The variety of enemies was truly staggering, and there was a special appearance by the author! Thanks to all who joined me!

In that case, if we've had time to run it, we would get in touch with the author.

As for today, Freitag and I had the pleasure of running Golden Age Secret of the Paragon Society #344596 by @Wrong Number on Liberty with a great bunch of people! (sorry it looks like only 1 screenshot got saved in my folder )

The arc itself was really enjoyable and the author was very thorough with creating a plausible back story. The NPCs were well chosen and the custom ones were really fun... to beat up! Not to mention they had a solid description, which added to the immersion factor. All in all, a fun arc to run!

Hello everyone!

Today, we visited Union, where myself, 7deCoeur and 6 Unionite joined together to take on Talos Vice, an arc by @PW. (#338380). With a unique film-script style of dialogue, we took on criminals and the mafia in our quest to destroy stashes of Superadine and put crime lords behind bars! With a surprising twist at the end, this is definitely an arc to run! Thank you to all who participated, and to all the people we weren't able to take along!
