The next time you need to craft-on-the-go, simply fire up arc #487283, Crafter's Cafe, and explore this non-combat, 1 mission arc...complete with usable Invention Tables!

Arc by BackFire.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

I have that in disclaimer dialog in the mish, too, thanks to your eagle-eyed efforts Fred

As a bonus incentive, I offer to provide the dev running the arc with recipes and salvage for the whole team to craft when they run it! Just PM me and I'll work out a time to meet in-game or gleemail it to ya

Also, this week I'd like to nominate the inspiration behind my Cafe arc:

Also, it looks like no AE Thursday happened yesterday. I was on, monitoring globals from all servers from about 3:30 to 6pm pacific and nada.

Victory saw a beefed up Freitag and wee me invade their Rikti War Zone AE building yesterday to try out Drakule vs. the Werewolf Bikers from Hell #340316 by @LaserJesus.

Thank you to the heroes and villains who took the time to run it with us. Our team was quite a wild one with feathers and claws a-plenty (who said a bird-man and a cat-woman can't fight alongside!).

The arc itself was very entertaining. The theme was maybe not the most original one (vampires vs. werewolves) but it was nicely executed with interesting custom characters and a great use of the AE maps.

If you haven't done that arc yet, please give it a go! Don't forget to bring plenty of garlic and silver bullets though!

Shouldn't there have been at least one actual DC awarded by now? Maybe there has been, and I missed it?

I think I must have completely the wrong idea about how this DC thing is supposed to work. I thought that this new venture would see in its first month a spate of DCs finally awarded to deserving arcs which have been waiting patiently for a long time, followed by at least one or 2 DCs a month.

Throw us a bone, eh?

Becky's Revenge, Fear and Loathing on Striga and Drakule vs. the Werewolf Bikers from Hell, the 3 that have been played so far, are all IMO fairly good candidates for a DC. In terms of writing, mechanics, design and intent they are at least as good as and in many ways better than a number of DCs already awarded. Also, their authors are certainly deserving of some recognition for their contributions to the AE community.

My view is that if they don't measure up, then either the bar is bafflingly high, or the success criteria are unfairly arbitrary.

I agree. This is week 5, and the last day of July is Sunday. This started in June. Zwillinger at least has publicly mentioned that he really enjoyed Becky's Revenge. There should be one posted by now. At the very least, those eligible that have been played this month (including the one played at the end of June) should be awarded very early next month.

Wasn't there something said about actually doing the picking next month? It was in ustream or a Zwill post this week, I think.

Either way, I'm sure they'll get to it soon and I'm glad to hear TGIMAT is still rolling along

Your expectations were way off. A new Venture could hardly be anything but a pale shadow of the original.

Becky's Revenge gets a DC! Yay!

My commiserations to Clave and Laserjesus.

Since we're only getting one a month out of the four or five possibles played, can i request that my arc Storming Citadel is NOT played by the Community team - I still have free slots and i'm not hugely bothered by DC, so I'd rather see someone else's arc given a chance to impress.

I wasn't aware it was a competition between the arcs played in a month for only 1 possible Dev Choice. Let's look back at Dr. A's quote from the OP:

Quote:

I see how you could infer that there will only be 1 DC per month from quote above, but I took it to mean they could mark any number of arcs as a DC once a month. In other words, "once a month" refers to the time they make the choices, not the # of arcs chosen.

Or it could also mean that they choose 1 a month from the pool of previously qualifying played arcs which includes ones played in previous months.

It would be a complete disservice to arbitrarily eliminate a DC-worthy arc from future consideration simply because they played another DC-worthy arc in the same month but only chose 1 at the time. That's just silly.

I agree with all of that except... they haven't really spelled out for us what they're doing.

I recall some talk about 'building up a backlog of DC-worthy arcs as a bank for later', so that could mean they're making a list (and checking it twice?) of arcs they wanna DC, but only DCing one per month to give them breathing space for times when their other workloads get to be too heavy ("Can't get round to it this month with Freedom breathing down our necks, good thing we have five arcs on our list already that we want to DC!")(personally I find that silly - why wait? but que sera, sera). But that's just conjecture too, we won't know until we see what happens down the line.

Or, you know, they tell us!

Any Dev Choice worthy arc will obviously not be discarded, fret not! Dr. Aeon may not post them all at once though

As for today's AE run, Freitag and I visited Infinity and gathered a very colourful team to run "The Time Bandits" by IantheM1. The arc was fun to run and the story itself was well thought out. There were a lot of the same NPCs visually speaking, but the variety of maps used throughout the story did offset that and the clues were really a great read!

Now he's a great screenshot of our team!

P.S.: Who said I should adjust my graphics settings?

I'm starting to think there's something to Wrong Number's theory that the devs do not like her... or at least her arcs.

I noticed that, too, but figured it probably had more to do with playing so many arcs recommended from just 1 person than a conspiracy to avoid WN's work.

Then again, just 'cause you're paranoid doesn't mean they're NOT out to get you...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the PC Awards were picked by the MA community of players and not one person. Clearly they should have all been played first. I feel very bad for her as she deserves much better treatment from the devs and the community.
