theres a sense of irony there .

I've already said that I can see that some groups can do it, in multiple posts in this thread. It isn't common though.
to clarify, it is possible to do it without the temps, but harder even with the new incarnate powers and then it needs a good team to do so therefore its not common?

so to ensure (as best you can) a success on the badge, do it with both the temps and incarnate powers i suppose

06-28-2011 22:21:25 Congratulations! You earned the Midnight Dodger What Dodges At Midnight badge.

I am almost positive no one cast a temporary pet. I say "almost positive" because of the circumstances - we decided to hit a speed Apex/Tin combo and brought along a couple of folks who had never done either. We're on Skype and one casually asked if we could try for Masters. There was zero preperation when he asked and Dog casually remarked, "wouldn't it be funny if we did?" and I said, "sure, go for it." We ran in for the rush/crush on his spawn point and he was down before we blinked. I know no nukes went off.. and am -pretty positive- I didn't see temp pets but could be wrong as I can only account for myself (no pets were cast by myself or Dogma).

So.. if you don't have that badge yet, have heart! Nukes not needed. Temp pets would be optional. Our standard run involves running in, hitting glowies and immediately heading to his spawn point. If you have pets, cast them asap. Crush him before the minelayers come out.

We're now working on getting our group's badgers their Master Keyes and are excited about how much easier -that- will get over time as new Incarnates are unlocked and our regular players get more and more experience in.

----

Edit/addition: I went back to read where the conversation started out of curiosity.. and preach is absolutely right about strategy:

I would probably rate the difficulty from highest to lowest:
  • Without temp powers, incarnate powers, or level shift.
  • Without temp powers, with level shift, without incarnate powers.
  • Without temp powers, with level shift and incarnate powers.
  • With temp powers without incarnate powers or level shift.
  • With temp powers and incarnate powers, without level shift.
  • With temp powers, incarnate powers, and level shift.
Are there groups that can get the badge in each difficulty level? I'm sure someone can find examples if they try hard enough.

City Info Terminal has 469 characters with the Master of Tin Mage badge, which places it in the middle of the pack in terms of how many people get it. I'd rate "common" as MoApex, MoBAF, or MoITF. If it were as common as some people claim to be able to get Midnight dodger, then I would expect more people to have it.

Here's the best part, we'll have free server transfers with the next issue and can schedule Mo runs to help each other out. Problem solved.

^5 for that, devs.

Bankable, though... So with about 4-5 months between issues, you could get two characters back and forth to where the badge runs are. If you were so inclined, that is.

I'm sure some people would be.
I recall a base raid way back when to get the Power Liberator badge (my SG was one of several that were raiding to get the badge). The items of power had been 'removed', but some were missed. Someone paid to transfer to Infinity to get the badge and paid to transfer back 'home' afterward. $20 for a badge.

Passport badge was for a US toon moving to EU servers. So no, that's not exactly how he got it.

On the flip side, 100% of the Tin Mage runs I've been on that people get the Midnight Dodger badge nukes and shivans were involved. I'm not talking about 1, 2, 3, or even 4 players with nukes & shivans. I'm talking about 6-8 players with them. Any less and no dodger badge.
Hilarious.

In my group of friends, we used to get the badge by simply fighting normally in I19.5 (after level shift), in mixed PUG/friend teams. We're not badgers so there never was a planned attempt to get this, nor do we play powerset elitist with team compositions, yet most of our played alts ended up masters of TinM.

All it takes is waiting for everyone before entering the warehouse. All getting in at once. Grabbing the glowies. Dogpiling Director 11 right where he spawns. Oh, and playing your character somewhat correctly.

Actually, scratch that last part now in I20. Lore pets by themselves should deal enough damage to defeat Director 11 within 30 seconds with just passive team buffs (assault, tactics), provided people can use the "attack target" command on Director 11.

Ok, that's probably still a bit much to ask for people who need shivans and nukes to get stuff done. *snickers*

i got midnight dodger on few alts, going with no temps, not using veng, just rushing Director 11.

I alsow remember helping some ppl with it, while i already had the badge...
... can we try midnight dodger?... - whatever, lets just rush the AV .... - woot got badge, thx guys...

The team composition will help for sure, debuff and dps... etc
Incarnates, help for sure.

I also help people while I have the badge. I'll even switch out to a character AT that the team needs to help. I just don't have the same experience that people on other servers have. Actually I would guess one or two groups on Triumph would be able to handle it, but never on teams that I've teamed with. I don't know if that is due to the amount of "good" players or their availability, but I've never seen it happen.

Sorry to say this Snow, but I think most of your problems come from playing on Triumph. It sounds that you don't have a large core of good players to help you.

Well you know how well I can do on Keyes and several other trials from beta runs.

Edit:
By this I meant that there are plenty of people that know that I know what I'm doing, but may not be able to find enough others to make this happen as often as some others.

Hooray, I finally got the Avoids the Green Stuff badge tonight on EI.

Only took the league (about 4-8 of us that were steady league-mates) about 1 week to get it (1-2 attempts per night) heh....we get so close but then someone gets hit by it....now we got it!

Now for Loves a Challenge heh

Blargh. It seems like every time I get on a team to run this, some jackwagon stands there and gets stuck in THE VERY FIRST PATCH. Had I had the star tonight, I actually would have kicked the guy who got caught in our second attempt.

I'm also thinking the badges for Keyes weren't planned out very well, or maybe that they were rushed; I've seen a couple other possibilities during my runs that would make for great badges, but aren't quite so painful to obtain. I think a badge for the league saving someone once from Disintegration would have worked nicely, and been on par with the Synchronized badge from Lambda -- you wouldn't get it every run, and it'd fall to either luck or really good communication to get, but you could expect to get it with reasonable certainty within 5 or so runs.

... Yeah yeah, suggestion forums are down there, I know...

I think there are quite a few badge opportunities that could have been tied to this trial. Like having Anti-Matter take no damage during the reactor phase. The saving someone from Disintegration is a good one too.

Its rough when you are running one of these and the league has mulitple members who do not really know what to do when they are hit with the Dis. beam. They start running around like a chicken with their head cut off out of fear that they are dieing, which they are, but just by popping greens they can survive it. Or just stay put so the support toons can heal you up. Protip-wait for the second to last hit of the Dis. beam and heal up full..when the last pulse hits, it will take you all the way down..but will not kill you..then pop/self heal up more and get back in the fight.

So I do feel saving someone from Dis. beam is a good badge idea, its kinda already there from the Loves a Challenge badge though. Its a little easier in the respect that you just have to save someone instead of everyone, but still challenging in the respect that some leagues just do not have the co-ordination to save anyone. Good comparison to the Sync badge from Lambda btw.

And I just want to throw this out there. I feel it is EXTREMELY unfair to award any badges (beyond the trial completion badge itself) AFTER a trial. I feel this sets a very bad stage for upcoming badges. An example would be that on a League where we are running fine, get the Bunker Buster requirements met, and do not have the means to complete the trial for whatever reasons (DC's, lack of support toons/not enough damage, etc...) then we do not get the badge we did earn. I call shenanigans on that.

.
That has happened to me

In fact, I was on Kotchie's run when I got caught in a green patch. I felt awful about it (and still do in fact.) I'm just glad that others on my league and the leader (hi kotchie!) did not feel like you did and gave me another chance.

I can tell you from experience that the fact that I messed up a badge run made me more careful the next times we did it. So I wouldn't punish or ban anyone else because of an error. We are all human and mistakes happen, even to the best of us.

That league did run again, and we are proud holders of the Mokeyes Badge.

I've felt that way since I found out the requirements in Pre-Beta. I was constantly being told that I was "imagining things" and that people would get them. Yes, people get the badges. That doesn't mean the requirements are good though.

After running my own leagues for these badges this last weekend (and for the foreseeable future), I can't get a consistent group to fill a 12 player league. I'm talking planned in advanced, invites to players I know.

What that means is that I'm forced to take fillers. At which point I'm guessing as to the quality of players invited.

If a server like Triumph can't support these badge runs, isn't that a blazing clue that the requirements are too high?

That said, I'm going to keep at it until I get the badges, but I don't hold out any hope of getting them on other characters, and that makes the promised bonus uncommons & rare for getting the badges on this trial a lie for most characters.

For badges like these; I think the free server transfer when i21/freedom launches will be a good thing. Us badgers could transfer to a specific server (VIP one?), get the badges, then go home.

Having done my first Keyes last night, I will tip my hat to anyone with the "Love a Challenge" badge.

The league organiser did a great job imo with a bunch of Keyes Virgins (myself included). I was a little surprised when we got the "Failed Mission" message since were were in the process of taking down the 3rd bunker. Is there a timer? We had a couple of people make lame excuses and quit but if anything that made it easier

Still I look forward to trying again
