Want!!!
Shadowy Presence - Absolutely, positively worse than playing a Kheldian... --Myrmydon
Also want. Then I started thinking about the day-today stuff like, "wouldn't it be annoying if those huge protective covers over my windows refused to open?"

Pft. We all know that when the zombies come and the doors come down, there will be one zombie who gets inside before the lumbering doors can close. The people inside will kill it, but not before one of them unwittingly is scraped and infected.

You could always go up to the roof if you needed sunlight. Once I finished making the escape tunnel I wouldn't be trapped either.

The escape tunnel should exit at least a half-mile from the home's location. Preferably in a wooded area. The exit tunnel should be collapsable and/or have a series of walls that raise from the flooring to maximize time from people following. Gates will open only with combined motion and thermal signatures. Motion without thermal signature will not permit the gate to open.

All zombie homes should have a roof access. Along with a retractable ladder that's only accessible from said roof or from a hidden access panel that requires either palm or retinal scan to activate.

Gates will open only with combined motion and thermal signatures. Motion without thermal signature will not permit the gate to open. Which is why any and all occupants will be required to disrobe and be examined by at least two other members of the party to prevent hiding of any potential bite marks after any close encounters. Any signs of injuries will be followed by a minimum 48 hour isolation in a secured room. |
However the escape tunnel should exit atleast 1/2 a mile away from the house, preferably onto a sheer faced rock or cliff. Something safe enough for humans to traverse, but impossible for zombies to be camping the exit with any risk of infection.
Also one of those pictures makes it look like theres a normal door at the side of that thing, so its a weak point, and I bet they do take forever to close, and probably have some wretched safety sensor that would stop them splatting zombies.
I think the whole thing is a trap. The giant movie screen is to lure people to stay out later than they should; have you tried to watch a giant screen like that during daylight? It's not like it's an LED screen either. They'd be completely oblivious to the slow lumbering horde creeping up on them from behind, espcially if they get the surround sound option.
I've already forgotten about most of you
Would be a great house for the initial part of the Zombie Apocalypse. The hunker down portion. But after that not so sure. Although, how nice is it to be able to take a swim?
Also this site is easier to view than the yahoo pictures (you can see all the pictures at once instead of having to click next):

Edit:
I wonder if it is also chem or bio hardened? Any air recycling/filtering installed? Hmm... One wonders.
I always thought it would be cool back in the day to own one of the decommissioned ICBM silos when they were going for a song back in the early 90s. Of course being a poor grad student at the time it certainly was not an option.
Now that would be a fortress to live in.
Too many alts to list.

Now put the zombie home on top of this place and we have a nice fortress.
Of course the zombie house needs just a few changes.
1. Get rid of all the sliding doors and windows except for the drawbridge.
2. Where the hell is the concrete moat? Two of them in fact. One around the house itself and another just outside the property walls with another drawbridge.
3. Double the height and thickness of the property walls, and put a third floor on the house. And add some ramparts like Castles have.
4. The roof should have room for Windmills and solar panels for power, a helipad, and greehouse for growing plants.
5. Wherever the place is located it should have an indoor well sunk for a secure fresh water supply.

Salt.
Plain ol' iodized salt. Useful for cooking and preservation of both vegetables and meats as well as being necessary for survival. Also makes a handy currency if needed. Throw in a couple 50 gallon drums of the stuff and you'd be well set. Maybe get one drum of unrefined sea salt for variety and micronutrient need.
Ya mean like this place? Which actually exists.

I want this included in my Zombie Safe house:
It so cool I had to tell some of my friends about it... have to wonder if it's safe against those pesky thriller zombies.

Salt falls under the sub-heading of supplies which I hadn't bothered to list because there are just too many different things to stock up on.
One of the things I forgot to mention was a decent sized septic tank. Say 60,000 gallons with pump and an aerobic treatment system.

I want one...
Of course, it would also double for alien invasions, meteor strikes, rogue herds of ferrets, and the tax man.
