According to a CNBC article, a forensics investigation of the PS3 hack found user info from 24.6 million PC users was compromised in hacks April 16th & 17th.

From what I was reading is is more that the internal security uses a lot of shared code between the PSN and PC gaming sites. They aren't certain that the PC side was hacked aside from one database of info from 2007 that mainly contains Non US information and apparently about 13,000 credit cards.

The main reason for the shutdown of it all is their investigation/fixing of things since they need the PC side down to fix the vulnerable code. ::shrug::

Believe them or not but that is what I got from digging around. It is strange and bemusing and suddenly I"m very glad for my obsessive using of different email addresses and passwords and even account names from game to game to game.

Not so coincidentally, I'm now playing CoH more than I was the past few months. I was planning on leaving a certain SOE game soon anyway.

And on a side note, I will never again complain of poor communication from CoH devs. The lack of communication in SOE is truly amazing.

Over the past month, I would have forgotten that I had a PS3 if not for Netflix.

Though I am bitter about not being able to play Super Street Fighter IV online.

Original EQ, SWG, and recently DC Universe Beta. The only solace I can take is that the credit cards that I used for EQ and SWG have expired a very long time ago.

The Playstation Network will be hurt for a while, I see no reason hot it couldn't.

The SOE business..... I see sudden drop in subscription numbers( possibly to CoX's benefit), which it may not recover from as an ungoing business

I can also see a situation where, SOE and/or the Playstation Network happened to be some high grade hackers favorite playground, and they might go hunting now

I noticed this yesterday when I tried to cancel my sub to DCUO! I have no access atm. So how do I cancel???

It would be nice if I could log in to that account and actually see the card I used for SWG. I think it's a different number, but can't be sure.

I tried that once with this very game (long story, not a ragequit or anything) and my bank said "We don't do that. Just come to us if they do keep charging and we'll straighten it out." I wasn't very impressed. >:/

Just shows what this has done for the PS3 in the UK. They normally retail around £300.00 plus with the various bundle details. A well know catalogue are now sellin them at £140.00 with vatious bundles. Great job sony.

Personally I am glad the debit card I use is always empty except for when I know a billing day is coming. So it only has money on it when it needs it. Gonna cancel this one and get a new one.
