Carly has a purpose: get together with Sam and give birth to Daniel.

Hellooooo.

Also: I'm assuming that the one-eyed bot at about 1:30 is Shockwave, yeah? Not that he resembles him in any way, shape or form other than the one eye...

He plays a much less raspy Megatron in Transformers Prime.

Honestly, though, with these movies, the positives (Transformers!, more or less realistic, true to the cartoon, etc.) outweigh the negatives (Mudflaps & Skids, Devastators "balls") ehough for em to enjoy the them (movies).

It looks like I'll be seeing it alone, though, as my boyfriend abhors Michael Bay (too many helicopters, I guess).
For me the negatives you listed for TF2 were so massively annoying and terrible that TF2 became the most disappointing movie I've seen in a long time.

Im skeptical of this round, but I will admit it looks like its gonna be much much better than 2.

Bayformers 2, the layout of the College. Suddenly theres a library, then the party part, then the...other parts...now suddenly they're...somewhere else? The insane pace Bay lays down doesn't give you any time to think, to have any notion of who, why or where, other than HEY! SPLOSIONS!
They named every single Autobot in both the first and second film. There was a roll call when they met Sam, and they named all new autobots during the battle in Shang hai. They had a roll call for all bad guys in first film, which I wish they had prior to final thrown down in Rotf though they did name a couple of the major villains.(such as Soundwave, Ravage, Rampage.) (perhaps to avoid any naming accidents like the first film with Brawl.) Most of the Decepticons were going be mowed down like foot soldiers, so I suppose them getting much developement was unneeded.

All major characters on both sides, Optimus, Bumble bee, Ironhide, Starscream, Megatron and the Fallen got enough screen time to flesh them out a bit. Unfortunately in team movies someone always gets the shaft in terms of screen time. It happened in the Xmen films, as there's only so much time to show so much.

Bay's films definitely suffer from Simpsons geography, there's no disputing that. Whatever Bay wants to be in the next room, that's what's there.

Yeah I noticed that, but still not really sold on him returning to role outside of I'm just used to hearing it for years. I think nostalgia really main reason anyone would push for it. Frank Welker is a supreme voice over actor, just he's not what I want in Megatron. I'm definitely glad he's getting work, and is reprising roles besides Megatron as well getting new ones.

And yet, despite the roll calls, a lot of people couldn't tell who was on the screen half the time because they ALL had that "walking humanoid-shaped mass of scrap metal" look.

One of the important elements you learn in sequential art, movies, and video games is to make every character visually unique. One exercise is to being able to easily identify them from each other just by their silhouettes. Making the designs too complicated with tons of little fiddly bits is also considered a bad idea.

The Bayformers often fail this aspect completely.

While I understand you re well versed in world of art NP. You probably notice alot of stuff I likely never will pick up on or care about. I respect you have a different set of goggles to see the world than myself, as you comment on other art work of comics and cartoons that never crosses my mind I however I don't agree with that take on it. Sometimes in life it's not about following the rules. Some artists, musicians and writers make a living doing things the "wrong" way. Sometimes crossing the streams is the answer. There's more than one way to skin a cat. I think the designs look cool for the majority, and even ones I wasn't crazy about grew on me.

I personally had little issues with ever telling what exactly happened. At the beginning of Rotf I didn't realize was Ironhide that blew up Demolisher wheel not Prime the first time I watched it. I caught that the second time I saw it and Prime leaped off before he crashed under the overpass. That was a super fast action sequence from time Prime says pull over, till he crashes. The rest especially in Rotf since the camera pans out further during the fight scenes the I could tell you what I was looking at the overwhelmingly majority of the time.

In fact I haven't met anyone in real life who's complained about that person. It's always something people voice online. If my 50 something year old mother can follow what was happening.), and her eyes are starting fail her then it can't be that hard. I made it a point to ask her since she knew the least about transformers of everyone who went to see it. I figured if what people were saying online were saying was true may be she'd suffered the same issue

I'd actually like an example of a hard to follow scene if you want to prove a point as I've grown tired of these sweeping overgeneralizations and hyperboles online.(the entire film..sorry that's not an answer.) I've watched both films over a dozen times and I can't really think of anything that was struggle to process. May be I'm just have lighting fast reflexes from years of video game playing (I was tossed off a motorcycle and I dive rolled before I hit the ground. I was completely unharmed.) and my brain just fills in since I look up alot of info prior seeing the film.(besides first film, as I went into that with only the knowledge I had of older stuff.) People post pictures of concept art , captures of shots and the toys online(I avoid story spoilers though.) to see what everything looks like on Seibertron. So I have a good idea of what to expect going in. I dont think that's a requirement to enjoy the films, but Im sure it helps.

Only reason I'd want to see Transformers 3 would be for Shockwave. But I'm afraid they'll mess him up.

My favorite Transformer of all time is Galvatron...but only the Galvatron that appeared in season 3 of G1....the G1 Movie Galvatron was boring....he was basically Megatron with a headache issue....crazy Galvatron presented many different options story wise...I loved seeing him smack Blitzwing around or shoot random Sweeps...he was unpredictable....and his insanity gave an out for him failing...where as Megatron failed constantly due to poor planning and execution I guess...the unpredictability of Galvatron is both a plus and a minus...

I guess maybe I also like crazy characters as my fav DC comic character is Jean Paul Valley as Azrael...and maybe why I don't read DC any longer..

Excellent.

I look forward to the day Michael Bay decides to replace all dialogue with explosion-based morse code.

Transformers 3 looks like a step in that direction.

P.S.: No sarcasm there at all, I think his movies are the best of their kind: explosion filled special effects extravaganzas. Meaningful plots and character development are for art films.

Excited for this. Also, did I just see a spacebridge from like 1:00 ro 1:10 or so? That could bring alot of new faces to the TFMovieverse. But seriously now, is the earth like a stasis trap for cybertronions or what? Every damn movie they find couple is stasis someplace. Should have just placed a damn big red X over the earth on their star charts "everyone who goes here never comes back."

This movie might be worth looking at so long as they do not get racists like they did in the previous moview with the bots. I think this will be a good summer for movies finally. So many good ones coming out this year.

I was hoping the twins were in the movie so they could be used a fodder.

If you like absolutely bugnuts insane Decepticon leaders then you're going to love Megatron in Transformers Prime (if you haven't seen it already). His introduction pretty much goes like this:

Starscream: Oh hey! Megatron! You're back! Where've you been for the last three years?

Megatron: I found this weird crap in space that may or may not be the blood of an ancient god of destruction. I'm going to stab it into my chest, and use it to make an army of zombies.

Starscream:...that sounds like a horrible ide-

Megatron: SHUT UP! I'M IN CHARGE NOW!

Typical me, I watched the trailer and thought,

"I must have that music. Oh there's a film that goes with this? Screw that, I wanna see what *I* can make with this music!"

Found both pieces, but the second isn't the choral remix from the actual ad. Boo hiss. Must find, must find, must must must.

Hubby will probably go see the movie - I might go with him. Otherwise I'll be seeing HP7b.

The first is Methodic Doubt's "Thorgasm."
The second is Pusher Music's "Prelude."

I have both pieces... but the version of "Prelude" in the trailer has choir, which I desperately want.
