Copyright/Profane question

I find it rather interesting that the filter still isn't fixed...

Pathetic. If they haven't fixed it by now, I suspect they never will. And I'm not changing Dracula's name, nor Frankenstein's, or any of the others. It's insane that those names are consider "copyrighted."

Issue 20 is a steaming pile of excrement as far as I'm concerned. I may be misding something awesome that I'd love, but all I see is 'Incarnate content, endgame raiding, grind for leet loot rah rah', which coupled with the new 'no love for AE' policy makes me 'meh' bigtime.

Thankfully, I'm still able to find cool arcs to play, but I'm saddened to find myself one of those MMO players who loves his game but loathes the Dev team.

I used to be such a Posi fanboy.

To balance my negativity, I am guardedly optimistic about Issue 21. I think the F2P onset will be ok, and First Ward will hopefully give me what I want from content - something new to solo.

Ignoring the profanity filter fiasco is giving the finger to AE users.

I'm starting to worry slightly about the filter the more I work on my arc ideas. The fact that I managed to finish my first one without issue helps somewhat, but I still have two or three more arcs to make, and plan on making a whole lot of custom mobs and random things for it. I'll just have to cross my fingers and hope nothing comes up.

Funny, because I KNOW that some of the things in my published arcs are in the same boat as other 'BUT IT'S A CHARACTER'S NAME IT MUST BE INFRINGMENT' names, but get through fine. It's almost more insulting that it's entirely capricious as to what it blocks.

I'm not changing my arcs affected by the filter either. They can take up space until the sun explodes; there's nothing infringing or offensive in any of them.

The thing that i will always considered extreme is the filter blocking the public domain character names (Dracula, Hades, Frankenstein) Every Ancient Greek Mythology character name is part of the public domain. I still find this over the line.

So fed up with this stupid thing. It's recently tried to tell me that the word 'splinter' is profane or copyrighted and that just can't be. I wasn't even using it as splinter but splintering which makes it even more absurd. Pretty soon we won't be able to use a single world in the English language without infringing on some trademark.

I was thinking about posting a report in game about it then found this thread on the forums and realized that the devs must know all about this issue and haven't resolved it yet so figured it wouldn't do any good.

My best arc "Splintered Shields" is down partly because of this. (And, IIRC, it doesn't like the name "Victor Praetorius", which is funny because it's one of my PCs.)

I had to change the word Accessed when it was used as the name of ambushes. I had them named Computer Accessed 1 and Computer Accessed 2.

I was allowed to keep the word accessed in the dialogue of one of the ambush squads.

I would like to formally welcome all my fellow MA Arc-ers, into the same boat as all my fellow SG Base builders..... Although I will now have to upgrade to a new, much larger boat, which will require some Dev time... NVM >.>
