Copyright/Profane question
I can happily confirm that 'Guardian' is no longer a dirty word and I can edit my arc without warnings about invalid characters, etc. Will notify if I find any other words that cause an issue.
I will concur with Eva that the AE Editor appears to be VERY laggy. Typing yields lag-errors (e.g. I type 'The world' and it sometimes comes up 'he wTorld') and I'm not nearly enough drunk for that type of mistake..

Hey everyone,
This mornings patch will have correctly updated the profanity filter for Mission Architect. Some examples of words that were not previously working that are now working are: Spider, Paragon, Lord Recluse, Magnetic, Longbow, Guardian, Bride, Acrobatics, flame, Castle, Manticore, Sister Psyche, Statesman Were aware that there are still some other issues with the profanity filter. Please post any other issues that youre having with it and we will look into addressing them as well. Thanks! |

Death for Dollars! (ID 1050)
Dr. Duplicate's Dastardly Dare (ID 1218)
Win the Past, Own the Future (ID 1429)
I got no errors on my "A Clone of Your Own?" arc until I actually opened up each boss detail and it gave me the warning when the detail was open, not just the mission.
I'm still having issues with Captain Skylark Shadowfancy and the Tomorrownauts of Today - the group "Doomsday Droids" is complaining "invalid name, try another" when I try to edit/save it, and I get a bout a million warnings about them being an invalid group. I'm fairly certain it's the word "Droids" since it still doesn't work if I try to change the group name to "Doom Droids", but it does work if I change it to "Doomsday Robots". Which of course doesn't have the same alliteration.
It also seems to wipe out all the customized normal mobs from the group when I try to edit it, but when the name thing is fixed then at least I can fix that part on my own from backups, though oddly enough all the files in my actual CoH folder still seem to have the custom normals in them, so I think it's wiping them literally when I load it up (and then not allowing me to save because of the name), so when the filter is fixed I may not actually have to do anything.

Thanks, Bubbawheat, that did the trick.
I have a collection named "Remote Access Station". The "Copyrighted/Profane" word is "Access".
I know this is a guy from the Marvel/DC crossover (though I'd forgotten he existed until today, as he was a throwaway character designed just for that crossover), but it's a normal word, and really shouldn't be barred unless it's the only word in there, and is for a character, not an object.

Shame to hear that "5th Column" is still broken.
I'm out of signature space! Arcs by Tubbius of Justice are HERE: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=218177
The following previously reported words are still broken as of this update:
Recent breakages (post-i20):
Scorpion (as in 'Black Scorpion' the Arachnos Archvillain)
Longstanding issues:
Regent (as in 'Regent Korol' the Arachnos Archvillain)
Cyclops (as in the Cimerrorean Elite Boss with one eye)
While I am grateful for the relatively rapid attention to this problem, I am concerned by your request to ask people to post words they are still having a problem with.
If your goal is to make absolutely certain that this customer service issue is taken care of and these people are satisfied, so be it.
However, I want to clarify that changing only or primarily the words that are posted in this thread is not an acceptable solution because it does not resolve issues with potential future uses of common words that people may just happen to not post in this thread.
If you must leave the filter in, someone needs to comb through the new filter word by word and excise every single world that has common uses and alternative meanings - like colossus, cyclops, beast, etc.
Otherwise, people will get frustratingly stupid errors in the future when they attempt to design arcs. The obvious absurdity of these errors will be reflective of the effort put into the player experience, and these feelings of frustration will eventually erode your player base. Maybe not by much, but enough raindrops creates a flood.
If you don't have the time or resources to comb through the filter..
Then please upload the list somewhere and we'll comb through it for you and send you a list of the words that need to be fixed.
Frankly, being secretive confers no benefit here. I would also publish the finalized filter once it's done so the MA community knows what we're dealing with and we don't go trying to make arcs involving characters with whatever words are declared taboo.

My arc in progress is happily fixed now and published, thanks for the fix
Going through my arcs quickly to see which ones are playable:
"The Doctor Returns" (1152)
Unplayable. The arc starts, the mission appears and the first mission can be selected. When trying to enter door it says something like MADoorInvalid, the arc automatically quits and the ratings window appears. I try to edit the arc; no errors are displayed. I try to republish and test it. I get a message that says that the title contains something that isn't allowed. I'm guessing it thinks my arc about "The Doctor", an npc in the game, is about "Doctor Who". Ridiculous. I report it as a bug and repeat it here: "The Doctor" shouldn't be in the filter.
"The Murders In The RWZ Morgue" (452144)
Playable, ironically, because this one actually uses names from an Edgar Allan Poe story. It's probably in the public domain by now, and in any case it's a parody, sort of, so it should be fine.
"Evolve Or Die" (411446)
Unplayable. The arc won't even start. I edit it and am faced with a wall of orange errors. Let's see... "Frostfire", in the contact name and in the critter name; critter, Frostfire, is invalid; custom villain group "New Outcasts", is invalid; critter, "Frostfire", is invalid (again), eight more instances of "New Outcasts" being invalid. So yeah... I think "Frostfire" and "Outcasts" should be removed from the list.
"Arena" (456200)
Playable, surprisingly, with only a few critters showing up as invalid blobs. They are "White Queen" and "White Bishop", respectively. I guess you can't use the names of real chess pieces so I'll recolor the armies as red and blue and rename them appropriately. Naturally "Queen" is a perfectly fine word that shouldn't be on the list, and even a combination like "White Queen" must be considered a combination that is so common that it would be insane to think that it could be trademarked or copyrighted in any way. I have updated the arc and now it should play just fine - I hope.
"Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friends" (114284)
Playable.
"Fear And Loathing On Striga Isle" (350522)
Playable and still awesome.
"Faultline By Night" (445405)
Playable, but not quite as awesome. Fixed the last mission to make it easier to find the objectives, after some feedback from @MrCaptainMan. Haven't tested that bit yet but it should work.

Awesome ( happy dance ) ! An update with progress !. . that still didn't fix the problem. . ( un-happy dance )
Lack of victory in the Filter War aside for the moment, praise and thanks and compliments to Dr. A and team for listening to our grief, trying various fixes, and now finally fixing ( some / most of ) the problem.
We are, however, still a great distance away from ultimate victory in the Filter War. In my particular case, my arc 22079 ; Best New MMO Of The Year : "Heroes of Paragon City" IS now playable because of the Paragon fix in the filter.. It is NOT, however, re-publishable/editable because the custom villain group Victory In-TECH has the word / name Victor in it. . Hence, it looks like the latest ( major ) fix just added in those common references as acceptable without telling the filter to actually stop looking at just parts of words..
I am still quite pleased, though, at the simple fact that I have playable arcs now. The fact that I can't edit them I can deal with since editing others not afflicted with Paragon-itis has left me quite weary for the time being. I empathize completely, though, with anyone still even un-playable after this latest go-round. We should at least take some assurance that recent events would tend to indicate we may yet see Victory ! or rather (censored)y !

I could find no way to actually rename the group, so I created a new one with a new name.
It fails when I try to enter the Arachnos boss Wolf Spider Huntsman (6-10). I think this is a bug.
Oddly I can add and save the minion Wolf Spider.

Wow.. Yeah this was totally needed now, because you know sooooo many people are still using AE.. Pffft LOL. As far as I can tell an even smaller community of folk still care about AE then the community of PVPer's. Just another brilliant system developed for this game, that was slowly gotten nerfed into obsolescence.

What? Padding numbers is all they are good for. Might as well use that to our advantage when it suits us.
