Softcapped S/L defense, a practically nonstop AoE attack chain (especially with the Spiritual alpha), plus massive single target damage. I jump into a spawn, fire off Fireball, Combustion, Fire Sword Circle, and Burn, then use Blaze -> Fire Sword -> Fire Blast on any bosses. I do want to purple out Fireball, but the other powers are better off with something that gives defense than a purple set.
Cascade, level 50 Blaster (NRG/NRG since before it was cool)
Mechmeister, level 50 Bots / Traps MM

Please post the datachunk, if nothing else. It is the easiest way to upload and the nicest to your browser.
For a damaging, survivable Dom I don't think you can do much better than Plant/Fire/Ice. Permadom will give you mez protect. Frozen Armor makes it easy to softcap to S/L. Sleet and Ice Storm are really great to amp up the damage, too. I haven't made a build for one recently, but it shouldn't be too hard for you to figure it out.
I have a elec/psi/ice dom and am very aware of the awesomeness of /ice as an epic. But i would like to steer clear of that for variety's sake. How is soul mastery and fire mastery for doms? I'm pretty sure ice is better overall, but i want the fireball/dark oblit attack feel. Anyone played an earth/fire/soul?
Sounds to me that what you want is a MFing Warshade.
At its height, The MFing Warshade will have 300% damage bonus, 85% resist all, well over 50% tohit bonus, three damage dealing pets in tow, a ranged AoE attack chain, and the ability to refill both bars more often than I blink. It can also perma stun ten targets, perma hold one, and even stun bosses in a single shot. It has mez protection with an 80% hitpoints bonus on demand. It can even shrug off defeat twice every five minutes. |
Where to now?

AoE and survival? Sounds like you're looking for a crab.
Currently on Virtue:
Jinrazuo - Crab Spider
RWZ All-Pylon Solo Run
Dechs I have tried and deleted so many MFing ws'd it's not funny. Read your guide a few times too. Sounds fun, is kinda fun, isn't as fun as my scrapper.
Currently on Virtue:
Jinrazuo - Crab Spider
RWZ All-Pylon Solo Run
I like Earth/Fire Dominator. Earth gives you enough controls to solo x8 after you have high recharge, with enough controls left over to handle ambushes and stacked spawns when need be. That same recharge gives /Fire really nice ST DPS; I clocked my own around 315 when I only had Alpha slotted, and between the control and the damage, I was able to solo some level 51 AVs with no inspirations or temporary powers. AoE damage isn't amazing by default, since you rely on a cone and a slow DoT PBAoE, but it still doesn't lag much behind my own Fire/Shield Scrapper. I also find the Dominator more all-around survivable than the softcapped Scrapper when I'm on my toes.
Going /Fire would help with the AoE damage, but I love /Mace. With my current setup, I have everything I need: PFF for when things get hairy, 25-30% defense to most attacks most of the time, stacked stealth when I'm flying, a pet that can hold its own versus x8 spawns for a few seconds to buy me some time if everything goes wrong, and effectively unlimited endurance. Unlike a high-end Scrapper, I die in a few seconds if I'm not paying attention... but I'm also nearly invincible if I'm on top of things. I count this as a plus. Scrappers put me to sleep.
My current build, sans Incarnate stuff:
(Edit: The last build I put up was slightly wrong. It was from a build I'd started using to tinker with scaling back some recharge to get defense instead.)

Have to agree with the Crab. MFing Warshades require effort to make them useful (perma-eclipse) while Crabs start out with decent AoE and survivability.
The first step in being sane is to admit that you are insane.
Another quote from the guide:
The MFing Tactics No, this is not where I tell you how to lay waste to large numbers of easy foes until purple recipes rain from the sky. If you followed the first half of the guide, then you can do this already. This is where I go over tactics for dealing with things that are sometimes difficult. Mezzers If you read that and thought "Easy, just go dwarf," then shame on you. You're bad and you should feel bad. Remember what you learned in Phase Three: you are all forms at all times. Thinking any other way limits your options; options are power. There are a hundred ways to deal with mezzing enemies, and dwarf only covers about six of them. Mez them first. You have Gravity Well, a heavy hitting hold, and the means to single out that mezzer through stealth or TP foe if you took those powers. You also have Gravitic Emanation, one hell of a ranged stun for when there are multiple mezzing enemies. You may also have inky aspect if most or all of the minions are mezzers. If it's a mezzing boss, a healthy stack of stuns from aspect and emanation will do the trick. Unchain Essence can stun too. Sacrifice Fluffy. You have pets that follow you. Either stealth or teleport past the enemy group and let fluffy take the mez. You might hurt his feelings, but that's fine because he's already a tortured ball of angst you ripped from a whimpering, delectable soul. How much worse can he really feel? Phase in. I mentioned it has a punitively long activation time, so it doesn't work as an escape, but if you took the power, you can use Nebulous Form before you jump into the group. Toggle it up, run in and let the first volley of attacks on you do nothing. Wait for the mezzer to waste that crippling shot, then toggle off and wreck his day with your own hold or stun combo. Kill them first. You have some very heavy hitting attacks from nova, especially if you carry a mire from the last mob. In fact, I've even run ahead to the next mob to saturate a mire, only to run back in nova and feed the mezzer his teeth. Yet another option is to open up with a (mired) Quasar. Get inspired. Seriously, you have inspirations. You should be killing so many enemies that you will have trouble keeping an empty tray. Either a break free or a few purples should keep you mez free long enough to kill two full groups of enemies. Please look here for some handy methods to making the inspirations you want. Wait it out. Generally, this is a bad idea, but you can always just wait for the mez to wear off. Maybe you don't want to waste time shifting into dwarf and then back into nova. Maybe you simply want to cackle madly while the enemies feebly attack your stunned yet impervious body, all the while getting pelted by your three floating furious fluffy friends. Eclipse is not a toggle, so the resistance it grants will not suppress while you are mezzed. Die. Ha, you probably think I'm kidding. Little hint: Mez and debuffs go away when you die, and Stygian Return gives you ten full seconds of glorious, unhindered retribution. |

I don't have a build on this comp, but I really dig my SS/Elec/Soul brute, my attack chain is Footstomp, Dark Oblit, Gloom, KoB, repeat, with three procs in the aura I melt through mobs and have no trouble running any content, especially on 8man teams.
Also I will second Plant/Fire/Fire or Ice doms, as well as Plant/Psi, of all my characters my Plant/Psi and SS/Elec are my most fun to play while still being high damage/survivability toons.

My kneejerk reaction is my favorite toon, and I have to assume I'm biased purely on playstyle because there is nothing in Mids to truly back me up. Made him in i6. I think I just "mesh" well with this, but, you asked and I want to answer:
My fire/dark/mu corr.
Fun AOE, fist-clench heals, humiliating crowd management*, and zooming around blasting things. It's all I ever wanted** and even after raising several other fifties, I love him the most. He isn't even my most expensive build (by a long shot*** it's my illirad with perma-PA.)
*not really control, but not as feeble as crowd suggesting
**also a helicopter, forty billion dollars, and the undying love of Sarah Chalke
***this was way too pricey in the end, but perma-PA is wicked fun. Probably a second favorite.
So after a lot of thought I am thinking that a Dark/Fire/Pyre brute may be what I'm looking for. Would appreciate it if I could get some feedback on this build.

Comments on your Dark/Fire build ..
1. I think you'll regret not putting End Redux in Blazing Aura.
2. I'd say Siphon Life (and Smite) are underslotted. They're both really nice attacks
3. Soul Drain is overslotted with recharge tbh. Taking of the Rech IO won't make much difference.
4. I think I'd move some slots out of health (the two non-procs) to fill out my attacks a bit more.
I have a build with 90% Rech and 33% SL defence, and one a bit like yours (SL Cap) if you want to see them.
@Fail (Used to be @Tux) and @Tuxedo Infinitus Defiant/Freedom/Champion
Favourite Toons: Prosper [Ill/Rad] Controller :: Infinitus [Fire/Elec] Blaster :: Pocket Dynamo [Fire/Shield] Scr :: Fast [Cold/Sonic] Def ::
Inspire [Plant/Storm] Controller :: Quality - SS/Fire Brute :: Double Down [DP/Kin] Corr :: Pwnz [Fire/Cold] Corr :: Fail [Fire/Son] Corr
I have to agree that the low end slotting in BA is gonna hurt, even if you have consume and DC. And i would also move those non proc slots out of health into some of your attacks. Or you could move them into healing flames and then put doc wounds into it. That should give you perma hasten, if you want, i think perma hasten is slightly overrated though.

@Caucasiafro
No. But that's not to say you need it. Do controllers have full time mez protection?

Great for low lvl speed TF runs, stealth to end and tele teammates to objective.
Edit: Arachnos crab spider is also very good AT/build to run speed TFs with. Here's a build with soft cap defense, perma hasten, and perma serum.

Ok forumites and mids masters I have a challenge for you. I want a toon that can do tons of aoe damage and decent survival, that can come close to or better than my fire/shield/pyre scrapper(aptly named Burn Smash Reapeat.)
Leveling is a non-issue as I will just powerlevel in a day or so. Money is also mostly a non-issue as I have toons I could strip that I hardly play.
I want out of the box damage, not something I need to ramp up to or only has high damage after a few seconds of debuffing. Mez protect would be a nice plus but not necessary. I mostly lead speed level 50 task forces to give you an idea of what I need it to do.
So please suggest your favorite aoe monster maxd out. Builds are appreciated.
P.s. I am not sold on a dom, but it would be nice if someone could lay down what they feel is the most damagey combo for a dom as i am leaning towards a dom.
