Without changing your slotting too much I tweaked it a little to get some better numbers for you. The spare slots were put into your attacks.

I'll have you know I did keep my pretty shields for when I want to be extra pretty, I just kept the old build and just fully reslotted this one as my second build >.>;
But as you guessed, with how I slotted Stygian I'm good on endurance at least 95% of the time, and a small blue is enough to cover me in that 5% of the time. I am getting 40% endurance per mob and I try to be at aggro cap as often as possible. The only times I may run into issues are on AV fights and I can either just pull a group or two to the AV or turn off SS and/or Tough and I'm golden, er, purple. With the amount of damage I put out and I dont find I have any difficulty creating bodies to heal and recover off of, this is true at +0 or +4.
Also I am opposed to franken-slotting Unchain any more as I really want the recharge bonus from the new ATO set. I'm not worried about end use as I just explained, but I appreciate the input

Hi, with the announced changes to Quasar and the new IO info (especially that sweet +HP unique
) I couldn't help but jump into Mid's and work on my favorite character's build
Just a few notes before the build:
- I'm looking for help maximizing my HP, non S/L Defense, and recharge, without sacrificing any more of that, if possible.
- I know I can slot the new summer event IOs in Quasar and get some HP but I decided I wanted the recharge from Obliteration more
- The blank slots in [Orbiting Death] and the three generic IOs in [Unchain Essence] are for three slotting the new ATO set
- I plan to replace the Winter's Gift in Black Dwarf with the +HP unique that is coming out.
- In terms of changes, my budget is unlimited and I am willing to +5 things as necessary
Also, feel free to ask me questions or comment or whatever, just want to improve my beloved 'shade

I don't mean to steal EI's thunder but the build he mentioned earlier is this one:
Code:It's the build I currently use and the build that has lead my WS to replace my DA brute as my main. The spare slot in Dark Detonation is for the KB->KD unique and the open slots in orbiting death are for the new ATOs (currently three-slotted with Erads while I wait) and the generic IOs in unchain will also be replaced with the new ATOs, with only one of the sets of three being catalyzed (unless the catalyzed recharge value is something other than 10%). This build is pretty heavily customized to my tastes and playstyle but it plays well at 50 and exemps a lot better than I thought it would. -
I'll be running them for a while, with at least 5 of my alts, three more immediately as I need to respec the last two.

I just took rrahl's build and tweaked it a bit to my tastes, the biggest changes are I had to +5 my defense IOs, but I maintained S/L softcap and range softcap, but also came within .2% of softcap for N/E. I also managed to pick up the pet by dropping smite and rearranging the power order. Most of the slotting is the same, just moved the powers around a bit.

Here's my WS with my attempt at a desert mystic/wanderer kind of look, I dunno, I like it.

My main is a SS/Elec Brute so I couldn't resist poking around with your build, and if you're willing to +5 the enhancements in Weave and Maneuvers you can softcap S/L with this build.
You lose the +20% slow resist IO, but you'll be fine without it. You also lose some Fire/Cold defense and Psi resist, but again, nothing really of concern overall. You end up picking up more regeneration, recovery, and a little bit more HP.
I slotted stamina, you would've been fine in terms of endurance earlier, but this gives you more breathing room as long as you use Power Sink well, you'll be fine. But of course if that's not to your liking you can remove those slots in favor of procs in an attack or something.
Also, dont forget that if you can make up the defense elsewhere, you can slot another purple set (the hold) in power surge. Also if you're okay with +5ing I'd take the hecatomb Dam/Rech out of KoB and +5 the KCs, then put the purple hold proc in KoB in addition to the Heca proc. If you're +5ing already, I'd consider getting power sink and energize too, just to squeeze out a little bit more performance out of those key powers.
I also feel like theres a better place for the ATO proc, but you'll be fine on fury. I'd even consider dropping it in favor of the new ATO proc when it comes out, or just moving it around. You have slots to work with. But enough rambling, here is the data chunk:

No, I understand fully what Gravitic does, I had it in the build I got to 50 with, but to me the mitigation it provides isn't as valuable as the shields and it's damage is too low for me to consider it as an attack. I don't miss the control from Gravitic either, as I find I have plenty between the slows, Inky Aspect, and Gravity Well.
The endurance cost of the shields isn't actually an issue, what with Eclipse and Stygian circle and I like having mid range resists with just one eclipse for those times that I am killing an EB or fighting an AV or something. Also even though the shields will be redundant part of the time, any time I have access to fewer than 5 mobs with Eclipse, I see a benefit from the shields.
I still don't feel a need to have yet another self rez as I already have the Veteran one, which is pretty nifty, and quite a stock of the temp self rezzes in my email.
And as I have stated before, I also keep the shields for personal reasons. I like the colors and effects. They're pretty, and being pretty is also important.
Lastly, though the burst damage from Unchain Essence is nice, and I really like being able to blow people up I just couldn't justify it over the other powers. Trust me though, I really didn't want to get rid of it, but I just felt like I got better sustained performance by having the spammy Dark Detonation to clear mobs. It was a tough choice between spike and sustained damage and in the end I decided to side with the latter. -
Well my primary reason for not picking up emanation is the knockback and I might pick it up after the KB IO is released, though with dark detonation recharging in under four and a half seconds I don't think I'll really miss it. I understand that stygian return is a great power and a mag 30 stun is awesome, but I just don't die enough to justify it. Unchain essence I dropped because I will get much better DPS with Dark Detonation. I could pick up those three powers in place of the shields, but I like the shields for when I am fighting one enemy and can't get a full Eclipse. Also I could remove some slots from other powers and put a couple slots into Gravitic and Unchain (Return could get away with the base slot), but they wouldn't be slotted well, so I didn't figure I'd bother with it. And actually because I like the way the shields look, I enjoy being a fuzzy purple fluffball of doom.
Also I took Dark Detonation over Gravitic because the TAoE meshes better with my three PBAoEs, where as with Gravitic, I'd feel obligated to hop back a bit to get the best effect with the cone. -
So your post got me thinking and I spent the last hour or so tinkering around with the build and came up with some new ideas that I squashed and found there was still a lot more flexibility to be had with the build. Some things aren't optimized like the Stygian Circle slotting, but I prefer it slotted the way it is and I am okay with using the extra slots there
A quick overview of what's changed/hasn't:
Went from 4 points of KB protection to 12
Decided to use ED as the third part of my attack chain as it will leave me with the lowest downtime
Unslotted Ebon Eye
Kept pretty much the same defense while maintaining S/L softcap and moderate defenses otherwise
Kept the same amount of global recharge
Replaced unchain essence with dark detonation, the extra slot is for the KB into KD IO whenever that comes out
Gained some HP
Moved procs around for more efficient slotting

Any thoughts on the new build? I feel kind of sad about so many slots in dwarf just for mules, but over all I am really happy with the result. But of course, always welcome to more input! -
So I wanted a new project and I found it in my old WS which I decided to kit out for general end game play, from TFs to Trials. It's my first stab at a human form build so bear with me, though I have found a large amount of success playing with it on live the past few days. This is just something to work off of, I increased your overall damage by switching out the cone for the Targeted AoE and Gloom (Gloom being one of the highest DPA attacks available to brutes) and increased your S/L/N/E defenses well within one small purple of being softcapped without really sacrificing much. I'd take a closer look because I did it quickly and it still needs some fine tuning and there are lots of unnecessary slots being used. If you're itching for more recharge, switch out the decimation and posi set with their purple equivalents.

I've recently leveled a StJ/DA from 1-50 and he's been a blast, I have him fully IOd out and with the stacking fear and stuns I rarely find myself in trouble, I have no problems building and maintaining fury and with dark obliteration and good positioning on spinning strike I dont feel like my AoE is lacking, even compared to my SS/Elec. My build, or at least a version similar to it should be on page 1 or 2 on these forums if you want to look at it

Well I'd take a look at Dechs Kaisons Claws/Dark brute guide, it's really comprehensive and dark is a fun powerset. I actually was inspired to make my own DA brute and I came up with a couple builds that I like. It's got a lot of exotic resists and a really nice heal, is easy to softcap, and if you choose to use the auras, a fair bit of mitigation. If you softcap a shield you can't really go wrong either, you get some extra HP and damage out of it too.

After looking at your build Nemu, I moved some stuff around in my original build and with the catalyzed ATO I should have softcapped S/L without sacrificing any recharge and getting a bit better endurance consumption/recovery. I actually had a spare slot and I just put it in stamina for an extra end mod, but I am totally cool with moving it if theres a better suggestion.
EDIT: After playing him from 1-41 these past few days I decided to make just a couple small adjustments to the final build. I moved a slot from Stamina to Obsidian Shield to place another KB protection IO and get the small recovery bonus (might as well) and I switched out the self rez for Oppressive Gloom, as I have not been dying much at all and I have the vet self rez and tons of charges of the temp self rez. Also Oppressive Gloom will use up .05 end/sec and I slotted it with just the -to hit proc from Absolute Amazement. I don't expect to get a whole lot of use from it, but I figured if I turned it on and got minimal use from it most of the time, that was better than some redundant use every now and then. Anyways, the build is updated with all that.
Please! Looking for feedback! Especially if anyone sees a way to squeeze out more recharge without sacrificing S/L/N/E defense

What kind of IO and Incarnate ability investment are you planning on putting into the character?

So with the ATOs out and hearing some testimony from a couple DA brutes about the +fury proc I decided I'd try to make an updated build with one of the DA auras (I just think they're really neat >.>).
It was actually really easy to do, I just dropped the cone and moved my selection of the damage aura to level 2, the enhancements even transferred. I picked up Cloak of Fear at 28 and took the enhancements out of Shin Breaker and plan on 5-slotting it with the ATOs. Or I guess I could move one slot from Rib Cracker to Shin Breaker and just switch the slotting, but I don't think it's a big deal.
Also, with the addition of Cloak of Fear and the way I have it slotted, I should effectively be at softcap for melee defense while fighting, which is neat. And I'll look cool!
EDIT: Would the ATO set be better placed in Crushing Uppercut?
