My kneejerk reaction is my favorite toon, and I have to assume I'm biased purely on playstyle because there is nothing in Mids to truly back me up. Made him in i6. I think I just "mesh" well with this, but, you asked and I want to answer:
My fire/dark/mu corr.
Fun AOE, fist-clench heals, humiliating crowd management*, and zooming around blasting things. It's all I ever wanted** and even after raising several other fifties, I love him the most. He isn't even my most expensive build (by a long shot*** it's my illirad with perma-PA.)
*not really control, but not as feeble as crowd suggesting
**also a helicopter, forty billion dollars, and the undying love of Sarah Chalke
***this was way too pricey in the end, but perma-PA is wicked fun. Probably a second favorite. -
I'm drawing, it's fun but works the opposite of wonders on my neck.
Edit: looks like they're coming back up! -
No, I've heard at least two or three people raise this concern on /hc over the last two days. It's definitely not just you, I'd count on an update or word from above about the issue.

It crashes me out entirely, then I get dumped back into Steel Can. It did it twice before I gave up, glad to see it's mostly centered around Lambda. I had absolutely no trouble (except for getting smacked around) in BAF.

Woah lookin' good there fellas. No shame in losing to those guys!

*Tumbles out of a cupboard, along with a half-dozen teacups, all of which shatter on the otherwise spotless linoleum.* Augh!

Quote:I've seen this one a lot, the complaint. I do like the Gun Fu but I guess I can see where it'd get annoying either constantly or just because of character design.Considering how split the community is on Dual Pistols... the set needs options for less "Gun-Fu", and more "realistic" shooting. I'm sure that will be one heck of a challenge to make interesting normal animations with the same animation time.
I want updates on almost all melee. Katana and DB (and I huff to admit, Kin Melee) are fine. The rest needs updating, badly. Most of them are far too generic and uninspired after the third or fourth viewing.
So, as far as non-melee goes, I'd like to see "Aura / Rings" be an option for some things. Heals, I get tired of the healing rings. The "wind-up" part of some power animations (the Ha-Do of the Hadouken) would be awesome to see revised. Flares that come out of eyes, or something, that wouldn't be too hard to rig up with the existing resources.
Range has a lot more interchangeability in terms of how it can look while animated, but I still say melee variety has to be higher priority. -
Quote:Six people with AMs and Hot Feet. That's probably why!
The one time we got a tank, he complained endlessly about us killing all his stuff.
PS: I want to be on your server because of this thread. It must look like judgment night when you guys do this stuff. Some kind of discoey judgment night. -
Quote:Actually this guy's got a great bit of advice here.Actively pursue global friends. Then, when you're on, ask around among them. If someone I knew and enjoyed playing with said "hey, I wanna do <x story arc>, wanna come help?", the answer would usually be "sure, sounds fun!". I don't usually have goals more sophisticated than "run into crowds of enemies and toe-bomb them" or "OMG I HAVE SO MANY COLORED AURAS". (Scary thought: I do NOT play this game high. I just really like bright colors.)
My guess is there's a fair number of people who'd be fine with doing that, and I usually find that even duoing most content makes it a lot more fun.
ETA: BTW, I will be polling SG folks to see whether they like quiche, and may get back to you with an additional suggestion depending on the outcome of the poll.
When I came back to the game this year, all my friends (global and otherwise) were long-since grayed out on the status window. It had been a few years, after all. So I basically hung out in the D ), made some pals and now I've got at least a few offers for groups a day.
You'd be surprised how many of us on Virtue are on weird playtime schedules. I think the real problem is, those of us who play irregularly are so used to soloing or small teams that we don't have much imperative to search for bigger. Don't be shy about making friends and seeing what's up at off-peak times. Very few of them will grouse about it.
Hopefully this works out for ya. -
Anyone have that link to Reinman's guide to 50? I think I'm doing all right so far - things are a touch slow but before 20 I expect that. Frankly I just want to get an efficient way to 32 and if I can't handle it from there, I'll go ahead and unsubscribe
What I've been up to so far is slotting to focus on my Char / Fire Cages, with Sands of Mu and a revolver to push the damage forward. I siphon power where possible and speed as well.
(I have two fifties, so this lil guy is for Farming.)
Edit: and I'll be doing the flashfire + hot feet bit pretty soon, as I get Flashfire next level. -
Why is it so hard to help new people learn things? Are you really so incredible at your game that you can't even stoop to explain something? It's $15 a month, not a crown of gold.
There are a lot of other things to worry about than whether some player knows your precious zones by heart.
PS: I've only done two or three AE arcs, it doesn't need nerfing in any sense of the word. You can rapid-fire paper missions and come out just as unaware. -
Yeah just dropped connection in the D, it's like 1 AM Eastern. Keep trying to get in, the furthest I get is a message that says I lost connection to the DBserver.

Last night I started up a Claws/WP brute, based on the advice of this thread / forum. I'm really happy with it -it even starts pretty well. Players will (naturally) want to keep a store of green and blues in their inspirations, but if you use a red and yellow in conjunction, it feels like nothing can stop you. Anyway, kudos to you guys for helping someone out who's new to the brute scene!

Agreeing with you, OP.
I wanted to thank these guys after I completed my first alignment choice and switch (two characters, one from Paragonia). The end of that chain was so meaningful and compelling that my mouth sorta hung open during the last ten minutes of it.
This is still one of my favorite game making studios out there, because they're a rare breed who works for the fun of the game and not for massive cash appeal. I love when I feel like I'm playing a game made by a gamer, and that's not nearly as common today as it was fifteen, twenty years ago.
Really, thanks guys. You also charged too little. I would've paid twice the Going Rogue preorder if I knew how awesome it was going to be. (Though I did throw you some extra cash with a namechange and a booster pack)

This is what I do a lot and I should say Corruptor is by far my favorite class in this game.
But the above combination, it's just magical. I mean, even if you're not really into AOE fighting, it's still really fun to do. The heal (when slotted for Acc) is very reliable and I find myself quite enamored with Fire's +DoT feature on many of its powers.
The only weakness here, you'll find early (and often) is our lack of health. I can take maybe two hard punches from an orange before I'm blinking over 0 health. This means I go into evasive hover-fights, carry a couple emergency inspirations and don't slouch at the evasive hover-fighting.
Seriously man, Corruptor is an awesome choice for range. I really don't get this same feeling with my other characters at all.
Edit: this is how I farmed a tip this morning.

Quote:Dang, this is what I came here to find out. Mine's bugged then - I have my fame points used for today but I'm on a going rogue Morality Mission that at the end says (when I click on the relative object) "You can't complete this objective yet." I bring the girl I'm escorting and nada.Morality missions ignore the 20 hour Fame Point/Counting tip timer.
I'm gonna try it again, after clearing the progress. This is really irksome since the mission features a bunch of orange Whisper Assassins that mop the floor with my Corruptor.
Edit: You say the morality missions were frequently bugged/ caused crashing in Beta? Or was this just the tip missions in general? I haven't come across a bug yet, but I'm wondering if there were any evident solutions other than repeating mission after resetting it. -
Tried role-playing? I'm not sure if it's your cup of tea, and if you're an old hand at anything besides console gaming, you're probably familiar with how it works. You basically slack off from leveling in order to go socialize, as your own character.
On the Virtue server there's a modest little RP community who is anything but modest! A lot of them are really out there, and some of them are so dedicated I can't help but admire them. I seem to be the loser new kid every time I go to Club D, but it's enjoyable to watch sometimes.
If the mood strikes you, wander there and click your walk button and chat someone up.
How do I enjoy CoH?
-Two parts solo to one part PUG; I like to have my me time in-game, and exchange that with company now and then. Grouping in this game is a lot more fun and much faster than in most other MMORPGs, but soloing is a good way to sort of brain out or oogle my characters.
-RPing, as mentioned above. Like I said, I usually don't get the attention in this game and half the time I just find someone interesting to watch.
-Drawing: when I'm out of game, I like to draw my own characters, or those around me. I've been penciling for about 18 years now, so it's quite a hobby. Drawing CoH stuff almost always gets me in the mood to jump in game and blast. If you don't like drawing, maybe writing? And if not that, maybe reading? You'd be surprised how much an out-of-game activity can inspire, when it's thematically similar.
-FullScreen. I have a television nearby with a lot of the expected peripherals, so I can watch what I want there. Most the time I've got Winamp and a playlist up, though lately I've taken to DVDs of NBC's Thursday Night Lineup. No excuses here, I'm an Office and 30 Rock freak.
-Screenshot / Collection: I used to spend a lot of time getting what I thought were the "perfect" shots, and this game is a fruit just waiting to be picked. What's more, you can use a freeware Photoshop (like GIMP) to splice em up and make your own composed murals or comic pages or whatever else. Trust me, it sounds kind of corny and craftsy but it's actually really fun. If you have a tangent to pursue first, all the better. It's like you said: MMOs aren't meant to be enjoyed just any one linear way.
