Fire/Rad Superteams Forming on Freedom

Evening guys and gals! This announcement is to let you know that MidLevel Crisis supergroup and the Marketing group on Freedom is sponsoring a Fire/Rads superteam every Monday night.

If you've never played a Fire/Rad before, come see why burning and microwaving enemies is so much fun!

If you want to get in touch with me prior to this you can reach me at @Hyperstrike1 or on that night as Flamin' Trolla.

Additionally, you can catch people in the The Market channel. Simply ask about Fire/Rads and we'll be there.

If we fill a team and still have more we'll split evenly on how ever many show up and run multiple teams. We'll try to make sure nobody's left out.

Now this isn't a PL group (though, as fast as we cut through stuff it may feel like it).

Additionally, several of the core members are level locked in the mid-30's range (myself included). So our focus will be on helping players get comfortable with their toons and get them to the point that, when they bypass us, they'll be fully functional and self-sufficient.

We will usually start showing up at quarter-to-the-hour and try to start the event on-time, save in unusual circumstances where we'll set a deadline of quarter-past-the-hour.

*****
But I don't wanna do it on Freedom!

That's fine! There are other groups looking to do this same thing on other servers.

Here's a link to the group which is going to be running on Liberty.

What about if Monday night or 9 PM isn't good for me?

Well, we're now running another day on Friday evenings starting at 7 PM Eastern. Details can be found here!

Note to mods: Please do NOT lock this thread. It's MEANT to be kept open for informational purposes and further inquiries. I have this thread subscribed for just this reason. So that when people post here, I know about it. If you have people creating new threads about the event I'm running all the time, I can't track all of them and may miss people who're otherwise interested.

Success

The image above hyperlinks to the picture gallery.

I'd like to thank:

  • Zero Decay
  • Scorched Remains
  • Kaylee Foxtrot
  • Greased Wheels
  • Hell Diation
A good time was had by all with much butt-kickery. XP, Inf, and merits fell from the sky like the craziest hailstorm you ever heard of.

Reports from the machine shop expect the Clockwork King to make a full recovery (once they get every part of him unwelded from every other part).

We had a few disconnect problems, but finished in good order in 2:12. No ghosting save for the final mission, plus the time to fight Babbage.

Of the six who started only Hell wasn't able to complete. He crashed out during the first mission and never came back.

That was certainly fun! (as all the previous ones have been!!)

I'm already looking forward to next Monday!

One quick question for you, Hyper:

Do you have a build order or a link to one for a "Super Team oriented Fire/rad"? Scortched was asking me what powers he should take, and my mind was already counting sheep during that final mission!

((Editted to add))

btw, this is BTU here (or Zero on the Fire/rad nights!)

Currently Playing:

A bunch of toons! (Freedom, Virtue, and a few on Infinity)

See yall at 8 central on the dirt mound in Talos.

Okay, a teaming Fire/Rad build has lots of space.

Recommended Powers
1: Char
1: Radiant Aura
2: Fire Cages
4: Accelerate Metabolism (3-slot for recharge ASAP)
8: Hot Feet
12: Flashfire
28: Choking Cloud
32: Fire Imps

Other nice things to have:

Optional Powers
Radiation Infection (Debuffs to-hit and defense)
Enervating Field (Debuffs damage and damage resistance)
Cinders (AoE Hold)
Stamina
Mutation (For the rare occasions when someone faceplants so they can avoid slowing you down with a hospital run)

Post has a "how's my build look" thread up in the controller section and Local Man provided a decent breakdown of power selections there.

From my experiance with 2 sets of ST's, here are a list of things you might want to get and wont need:
Stamina and health....really are not needed with sync'd AM's...
Assault...no need
manuvers..maybe
team tp..it is good for maybe one person to have it to drive the team...with CC and hot feet plus the spam of heals and cages, nothing will stand.

Now, for the sometimes solo'ers, they can pick up a good travel power and fitness, and maybe haveing one person take stealth for quick mission defeats and such...

All I have to say is have fun and good luck. i may join you. Nothing in this game stomps butt like 8 similarly spec'd fire/rads. The debuffs are where it's at.

And another successful run tonight!

Again, full gallery available here.

I'd like to thank everyone who was able to make it out tonight.

And I'd especially like to thank Bionic Flea for letting us co-opt his missions with Keith Nance and Jenni Adair. Loads of fun. Just wish the cloneage was dupes of everyone on the team instead of just Flea himself.

We ran Keith at +0x0 and it was like using a tacnuke to disperse a mob. Quote for the night happened in the first mission after we melted down an entire mob including Freak tanks in about 3 seconds.

Fork in Microwave: I'd heard stories but jeeze!

Yet another Fire/Rad fanatic in the making!

Hey guys.

Sorry to spring this on you so late. I'm going to be unable to attend Fire/Rads this weekend. I have a project at work that's going to be having me do the late-late-late thing on Monday (it got delayed and has to be in place and functional Tuesday morning).

If you guys still want to meet and run that's perfectly cool I was planning on doing at least half of the new Posi (if not the whole thing).

Again, my apologies and I'll definitely be back here NEXT monday (05/17/10).

That's cool. I'll be on the dirt hill at 8p as usual. If we get someone at the right level we'll run the new Posi, at least the first half.

If I lead, it'll be Talos Radio. Up the diff if we plow through stuff too quick, something we can't do on a TF.

If anyone has a specific TF, etc, they want to run, we can do that if we get the right levels. Mine is 28.

Not sure how long I'll be able to play tonight. A Posi sounds great, mine's too low to do anything else.

Uh, I thought difficulty now works on TFs?

We smacked the Posi: Rule of Three in 54 min. No ghosting.

[Well, I did stealth inside the lobby to check things out.]

We killed the dopplegangers in about four seconds after we got over our fear of approaching them.

I didn't get the names of everyone and I'm horrible with names. Grease was there, and Zero, and...ah...I don't want to get the names wrong...I wanna say Heat Induction...

In any case, the big guy, Kul, is a Mental/Rad who joined up. He was not fun in caves.

This sounds cool. My main for the longest has been a Fire/rad I made for the Frads Second Coming runs a few years ago. Do you guys run any other times besides Monday night? He's @ level 46, btw, I'd love to get him to 50 with another fire/rad group!

Huh. You take other /Rads, eh? Guess that's why someone asked my Ill/Rad (Ulterion, L41) to join up last night for a Fire/Rads... Figured they were just being stupid and couldn't read the "Illusion/Radiation" at the beginning of my team finder note. (no offense intended to whoever that was, by the way, if they're reading this.)

Alas, my computer sucks and I have a hard enough time keeping my FPS above 10 as it is when I've got my debuffs on something and my PAs & Phantasm are going all-out, much less when on teams , so I would've declined even if I hadn't thought it was a mistaken tell. Oh, well.

Dang it! I always forget that Monday nights are Fire/Rad nights.

Hopefully, I'll remember next week.

Honestly? If we don't have a full team, we'll take anyone. Fire/Rads just get first consideration.

Well, if you get a chance to upgrade, or just feel like testing the waters, look us up.

Normally we run only on Monday nights. If you want to set up another night, we can look into it. I've been looking into starting an alternate F/Rad character as my main is level-locked (marketing SG?) and we're bound to grab people at higher levels eventually.

I only do the Monday thing. Not sure about the others. Many of us are on nearly every night and can be reached via The Market channel.

Not I on asking people to join the Fire/Rads. When we only had four show up I did a shout in Talos for Frads and Kul /t me back. I asked the team if a Mrad could join and they said it was up to me. I let him. Then we got our sixth and six is good for me. If Hyper had gotten in about 20 minutes early he'd be on the team too.

An ill/rad is a little too much of a departue, and honestly, your pets would be worthless. Six people with six stacked AM running Hot Feet, spamming Fire Cages and Char on enemies who are already stunned by, often stacked, Flashfire. We kill everything nearly intstantly.

Best quote, probably quoted above in this thread. I think it was Zero said, "I'd heard stories [about only fire/rad teams], but I never imagined..."

While my first experience with this event was with my katana/wp, I generally don't like picking up melee and would rather keep it in the fire/ or /Rad controllers, or rad/ defenders. Though my pictured avatar gal is an ill/storm, I'd prefer to keep either of those power sets off the team.

The one time we got a tank, he complained endlessly about us killing all his stuff.

We can always use someone to absorb the alpha...If we happen to allow an alpha...

Yep... noticed the meeting place and time in the thread. Any "target" level I should shoot for?? BTW... how does one get "level locked"?

Well, they just ran the first half of the new Posi this week. We'll probably grab the second half next week.

So get yourself in Posi range and it's all good.

As for level locking, you can go in and turn off XP earnings at any point. Then you simply stop leveling.
