From 12 to 16 in the what, 3 hours we teamed? Very fun.

I'm leaving my toon for just this team. She'll not be played anywhere else. It'd feel... anti-climatic, I think.

Oh, I was playing Scarlet Fever Amy. Yeah, the one that died. I'm so glad my mistakes never got anyone else killed.

See you all next Monday.

Yep. Two teams again.

And yeah, Lusca handed us our *AHEM*.

Mostly because the first tentacle aggroed was one in a big cluster (whoops). At this point we lost one of our 6 members and I crashed out.

Anyhoo, we had more than one team again this evening. So we split high and low. As usual, I grabbed the lowbies and actually brought along a ringer in the guise of a Fire/Kin. It made for a slightly different dynamic.

Oh yeah. And I need to stop acting like a tank. If I could survive the aggro, cool. But in some cases my health bar heads right at hypersonic speeds.

It's something like "ATTAC*DEAD!* JEEZE!"

Anyhoo, we took group two on a Posi1 at +0x8. We had a few deaths, but nothing severe (other than a VERY near TPK because someone (not me this time!) forgot about the ambush in one mission).

On the last mish, we didn't do half bad. The first mob was positioned further back in City Hall and it made it easier to get in and get set up to fight. We wiped both mobs upstairs with nary a problem. We then went downstairs and proceeded to melt 8 shadow clones in under a minute.

  • Scarlett Fever Amy
  • Big Wave
  • Vortex Core
  • Harmony Lux
  • Zorinna
Much fun to be had by all.

*grumble* Stupid me completely forgetting about this despite being on my Fire/Rad for around an hour last night. Oh, well. Maybe next week. She's only L13, anyways, and could use a bit more seasoning...

I posted the pic of our team, who ran the respec TF, over in the parallel thread to this in the Freedom forum.

We did well. Some who were new to the concept of 6x frads got excited and did a little faceplanting when they ran ahead. That's why I took Fallout. Woot.

All three sections of the TF had vertical elements which play hell with fire/rad. Hunting skyraiders = flying with no hotfoot or choking cloud, or throwing cages and char from the ground. The KR mish had multiple layers of balconies in the final room and I made sure to accidentlaly aggro the entire earth. And of course the reactor has two levels. Stupid imps won't put on their shields.

Good times though.

What's a nice, flat TF?

I have Google Calendar send me an SMS 15 minutes before. Otherwise I would have missed last night as I was looking at computer cases at newegg.com for hours before.

Okey doke.

Sorry for the lateness of the post.

We had 6 people show for Fire/Rads last night. Two of which were new to the group.

Instead of TF'ing, we opted for runs at the Rikti Warzone intro. Insane amounts of XP to follow running at +1x8 with bosses (the L14 gained 4 levels before having to leave early). A couple nasty near-TPKs, due to the mob distributions on certain maps. But we powered through.

No screenies tonight. Sorry.

I was that level 14. Did not feel like I was contributing at all for the hour or so I was able to be there (annoying that player-run events always seem to start at 10pm my time :/).

Was fun while it lasted, though.

Seriously? Were you having problems hitting stuff?
Or were you getting mezzed a bunch?

Or was it that it just felt too easy and too much like PL?

Honestly, with Fire/Rads, especially a full (or near-full) team of them, it really IS just that easy. And it does feel like you're not doing a whole lot for all the XP you pull in. And yeah, we do occasionally faceplant. Not a huge deal.

About the only way to make it feel tougher is to severely crank the difficulty. Which just makes it feel MORE like PL as the exp boost causes you to level at an even more astronomical rate.

Or fight enemies that don't mez easy. But, again, with 6-8 people throwing down mez, it's just a matter of time.

We actually went up against carnies a few weeks back. Now, as a tank, carnies have always been one of those "ah crap" enemies when they come up.
We sawed through them like a chainsaw through warm butter.

Quite frankly, we don't care if you siphon a few easy levels out of this. We're more interested in getting you to a place where you feel you're contributing to the group as an equal.

Maybe it would have been less off-putting had we done a TF in your level range.

All the facile justification aside, I do hope we'll see you back.

Also, if the time frame for the Freedom group is problematic for you, you may want to take a look at the twice-a-week Fire/Rad group forming up on Liberty. They meet Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8PM Central.

If all you do is hit AM, you are definately contributing to the fire/rad onslaught.

Agreed. 1 AM is "cool, AM". 3 or so AMs is "nice little boost here!" 6-8 AMs is "wow I actually feel sorry for the bad guys".

I was on the team about a month ago but I really didn't like my toon. I rerolled with a whole new toon which I really like now, gave him a bio and everything. Will be ready to go for Posi 1 if there's a team for that next week

Okay, had a good week again this week.

Nine people showed.

  • Zero Decay
  • SKY9r
  • 'xyNetiK
  • Wild West Pest
  • Vortex Core
  • Greased Wheels
  • Radical Burner
  • Scorched Remains
  • Zorinna
Because we had just over a team, we split and ran two teams. The first five, then the last four.

The second team ran the Posi and finished in about an hour and a half.

My team started the Vanguard intro arc. We got all the way up to the Rikti bombing mission at +1x8 (and were literally tearing things apart). Then real life intervened and I had to cut it short. No screenies, no nada.

GAH! NEED MY SCREENSHOTS!

Well, I'll see all you guys next week (hopefully).

I would love to come to this Monday's event. I thought I read in one of the posts yo like the character to be at least level 12 or so. Is that correct? Hope to be able to join in the fyn. My rads name would be Sun Stryke if you need that.

Level 12 makes it easier to run taskforces. The TFs pay off well (especially for low-level characters), and you get the merit rewards at the end.

However, if you show up with a lower-level toon, we aren't going to turn you away.

Okay! We took our first stab at an ITF tonight. We had 5 people heading into Cimerora after we split into high and low teams. We picked up a tank, a blaster and, believe it or not, another fire/rad.

Mission 1 went pretty much flawlessly.

Mission 2 was a bit more difficult, as we were not watching our AoEs real well and were popping the crystals and dying. All in all though we ran the mission "kill em all" and didn't have too many issues. Nothing we couldn't recover from.

Mission 3 and lag hill. We had a bit of lag, but nothing horrendous. I was pleasantly surprised. We just marched up the hill, burning and nuking everything in sight. We had a couple of "aw crud" moments fighting the AVs, but nothing we couldn't hack. We hit the console last and had it down to a sliver before the 3rd wave of robots overwhelmed us. So we hit the hospital, came back and just eradicated them.

Mission 4: Again, we just marched right along, killing everything in our path. Worked real good for us. We cleared the area around Rommy and then faceplanted under a hail of nictus spawns.

I tried to get a bit more creative and got bit on our second run too.

On our third, we all dropped Rad Infection and went to town (I was also making liberal use of Envenomed Dagger). Deaths were had mostly all around on the last run, but spaced out so that it wasn't half the team wiping.

In the end...

So, while it was no master run, we did quite well. We were running the mish +2, which can be hard even on well-built teams.

I went into tonight half a bar from 37 and came out 39-1/2.

Good job to BOTH teams tonight!

As always, more screenshots HERE.

Hi all,
I was browsing around the forums, trying to learn some more about this fun game when I ran across this thread. As luck would have it, I have been playing on Freedom so I started myself a Fire/Rad controller. So far I have only taken a scrapper to 50, but I keep coming back to controllers (I like my ill/rad, ill/kin, fire/kin though none of them have made it above lvl 27 yet). I love starting over a lot!

If I can make the cut, it would be fun to have a regular Monday night run and meet some folks in the game who could teach me a thing or two no doubt (mostly my time in the game has been spent either running random missions with pugs, soloing, or messing around with WW).

Not sure how high I can get by next Monday, or what I should target? I figure I'll just get as high as I can and see if there's a spot for me.

When I finish up with my scrapper I'll build up a fire/rad. I was thinking about building a rad/fire controller, but this makes more sense. Hopefully I'll hook up with you guys a few modays from now. After the toon hits around 35? Maybe I'll hook up sooner. I'll add the OP to global with progress reports. My global is @DarkWanderer if anyone else wants to add. I haven't built a controller very far. I mostly like my scrapps, but my global's namesake is a dark/dark defender so I can debuff.

Create your Fire/Rad, level it up a few levels just to get the basic feel for it down and then come on over to Talos and join us.

Do not worry if this is your first or 100th controller. Having a bunch of crazy FRads running all out is a sight to behold and you are sure to learn a few things and laugh like mad.

Lately the turnout has been high enough for two teams to run, usually between a group that does a TF and those that do radios, different TF, or story content (such as the group that did the Midnighter's Arc to prep for ITF goodness).

And on another note I will not be there tonight. After I get home I have two toons or more that I need to do a respec on before the new issue drops.

Good luck and have fun everyone!

Okay, there MAY be issues with Fire/Rads tonight.

Namely GOING ROGUE.

Right now, at 4 PM, server loads look like THIS:

Both Virtue and Freedom are PEGGED at the moment with queues building.

We'll see what it looks like this evening....

Okay, I lied. A bit of jiggety-pokery with swapping out files from my beta folder and I'm up and running.

I'm in on Freedom right now.

Waiting on the hill.

I will be out of town next Monday. Hopefully, I can make a decent toon by the Monday after and I will show up the Monday after. I have been doing some mids' work on a couple builds. Gives me a reason to play the toon other than just the fun. I have been slow on my other projects so I will work on the fire/rad. Hope to see you guys out there.

Okay, would we? Yes. We've taken on Fire/Kins, and even blasters and tanks (for the ITF 2 weeks ago) before.

HOWEVER, if it came down to a choice between you or picking up another Fire/Rad with a full team situation, we go with the Fire/Rad.

Fair enough. I'm just largely curious as to how Elec will work on a team.

EDIT: Actually, a team of controllers would be the LAST place to test that. I just want in on the epic. :P
