Tin Mage rewards borked
That's odd, cos ran it last night and got the 2 shards just fine, along with the double merits and notice.
The problem is described somewhere not everyone may have forum access to.
If the team leader runs a TF that has foes fixed at L54 with their difficuluty settings on anything but +0 levels, the shards do not drop.
This happened to me last night. I was the team leader. I did not adjust my difficulty settings because I knew they would not matter on the Tin Mage TF. I can confirm this actually happened and just wasn't me missing the message, because support actually awarded my character the shards.
A patch is in the pipeline.

hmm... makes me want to check my logs when I get home. We ran it at +1 because that happened to be my difficulty setting. I got 7 shards total and just assumed it included those two.
Worked fine at +1/x4 difficulty setting:

Oh I believe you. I just wonder what specific or combination of things cause the issue because obviously it isn't *just* the +level difficulty thing. I'll certainly be looking at it more closely in the future for sure.

Petitioned. Got 4 shards back few days later.

In all honesty both of those tfs need their rewards revamped by alot. So many folks now are saying screw the WSTF if its Tin Man. Its just not as fun as the ITF or even some of the other tfs. Personally I hate them both simply due to same old thing. +4s and cheating AVs does not make a fun TF at all. In contrast the incarnate trials are significantly easier to deal with because there is some safety with having more than 8 players. But those other TFs you simply could not pay people enough real money to even do them beyond the first time they get the badges. That should be a red flag right there.

Uhm. I disagree totally. I do bouts of Apex/Tin Mage back to back a lot of the time and never have problem finding people for them. TFs are pretty fun, and not *that* hard, plus the rewards are great. I usually get both done in 45-60 minutes at most for 80 merits and "guaranteed [not counting the bug]" 4 shards. That's pretty damn good reward/time ratio.

The folks I run it with typically complete Tin Mage in slightly less time than we do the ITF, and we typically complete Apex in even less.

You and I play this game in different worlds. I largely ignored Synapse and played the living bejezus out of Tin Mage last week. I find Tin Mage rather exciting, fast paced and short. I had completed the WST on all 10 50s by Wednesday, and I got the 2nd tier badge for running the WST 10 extra times on my main badger.

What server?
sooo, what server were you on, and what server was EvilRyu on? Depending on the time of day and the size of the server, wouldn't surprise me if some can run Tin Mage more regularly than others. And that goes for about most of the new TFs.
If a server has a really small pop, I can see the pop going for the fastest and easiest to form for, tfs/sfs. I'd argue that ITF is infinetly easier to form for on certain servers than any of the Incarnate TFs. Especially since there is no barrier to entry for the ITF. Unlike Tin and Apex which not only require 50 (since you can only open up your Incarnate Slot at 50 unless I missed something) AND require to HAVE something slotted in it. (Granted for some support classes who avoid attacking during said tfs it's not necessary, but in general it's still a barrier).
I say this all with no scientific data to back it up ofcourse.

On one team, had a team member totally disappear for 2 of the final 4 AVs. Ended up being the fastest run. On another team, a character got the drop that allowed him to craft the Rare boost, and without thinking crafted and failed to slot it (due to the cooldown) prior to fighting Minx, so we had a -8 on her.
This is really not a hard TF if people listen and stay together. It's definitely one I'll do again - and not just because I still need MDWDAM on my main badger...

What server you doing this on? I know myself and several others tried alot during this week to get this TF started and I was only able to run it once. Most of the time the response is "Its just not fun like the ITF" or "Its too hard for such little reward". Of the few who did respond on the other times we had to turn them away since they did not have their alpha slotted.

Edit: Really more to the point, I have a core of players I can normally depend on for excellent play. We aren't in a SG together, but we sort of act like one, based around a global channel instead. We spend most every evening running TFs together, and we generally try to run them as fast as possible. Even so, we almost never try to tune what people bring on the team. About the most effort we apply to that is to say things like "hmm, too much melee" or "not enough debuffs", at which point someone usually switches to whatever we're lacking. Sometimes we just say "screw it" and run it with whatever. My favorite outcome for the latter: 26 minute Apex with seven melees and one Elec/Psi Dom.

Still, given my playtimes during the week are midnight to 5am eastern, I'm doing ok on running WSTs. They'll have to be running WSTs until the Mayan doomsday for me to get that stupid assist badge, but I'll get there eventually and I did get I think five Tin Mage runs during the week. Not bad for the drunk/crazy/friendly/dead/pantsless server and considering I was only on for four days out of the week.
Considering Triumph is supposed to be a low population server, it actually seems pretty active when I'm on, and I'm on in the dead of night for a supposedly east coast server. And I've rarely heard people complain about how hard Tin Mage is, or how crappy its rewards are. Probably too drunk/crazy/friendly/dead/pantsless to notice, but still.

This has been going on for at least a couple weeks now. Me and my friends have /bug -ed it more than a few times already and nothing is fixed yet. Tin Mage Task Force is not rewarding 2 shards at the end with the merits and stuff.
