Gaslamp fantasy/Steampunk costume options
This doesn't help in the short term, but...
There is a thought that an upcoming costume booster to come out will be steampunk themed. This is based upon a hint which was given a few months back, so who knows when/if it will pan out. Also, they seem to have hinted that some existing NPC costume pieces might come out way eventually, thought I am not sure any of the Nemesis steam-punk items would be suitable to be adapted to player character models.

I have a costume I consider to be an "Alpine" AR blaster. She has the Nem rifle, wears the duster hat, the ribbons and ring in leu of suspenders, a tank top under it, those ugly puffy shorts, and Santa boots. Coloration is pretty sedate.
As for Rocketeer/Sky King type stuff, I've made a female version of the first dude you see in Ouro.
Neither of these are what you're looking for, I know, but that's all I can really help with. And there are now two versions of goggles on the forehead.
The Baron jackets from the Magic Booster seem somewhat steampunkish to me, at least potentially. And of course there are steampunk pieces in the armored and robotic arm selections.

I've been sick, unable to sleep, so read the entire series over again from the first strip Tuesday night/Wed morning.
(yes, I'm making a Jagermonster. Was looking at BS/WP scrapper, now thinking brute.)
Another suggestion is to play around with color schemes and contrasting piece textures. Making almost any of the metallic/armor/mechanical bits a copper (mid orange)/brass (dark yellow) color scheme helps them look very Gaslampesque.
In addition, using bits and pieces of armor or mechanism on top of, or simply contrasting with, leather, clothing or uniform pieces can produce a feel like this quite well. Heroes (and major baddies) of this sort of story rarely wear fully-enclosed suits, however practical that might be in the setting. (Yes, ok, practical + steampunk = head asplode... I know.)
It is also worth noting that historically, Victorian society was all but obsessed with the Orient - both Near (Egypt) and Far (China, Japan).
That being said, there are few pieces that are specifically denoted as being Stampunk in style, but many that can be adapted. Take a look at the Valkyrie pieces, the Cyborg bits, and some the Resistance armor bits if you like things a little more gritty. And of course, the Steam Jets aura always helps...

You might want to go to the Post Your Best Costumes thread and do a "Search this thread" for Steampunk and Mender. A whole lotta people enjoy making Gaslamp/Steampunk inspired Mender costumes. It could give you some ideas to tide you over until the Steampunk booster comes out (...some day...)

I was trying to make a uniform using the Baron hat and coat, but it really got a bit gaudy (the coat, not the hat- that hat's great!) and not having much luck. I guess I'll have to make a "detached" Jager, or perhaps a "feral" Jager from the Old Times when the Heterodyne rulers were more... "fun." I haven't given up on the uniform quite yet though.
I don't know... Jaegers seem to have too much... subtle finesse to be a brute. And worried about their hats.

I took tech wings and tried to color them bronze and dull silver (for aluminum) for my character that time skipped from the 1800s.

This here is my steampunkish toon. It's more along the sedate, tan-and-leather victorian steampunk than Girl Genius' very awesome Prussian Empire aesthetics, but that's nothing playing with the colour palette wouldn't be able to solve, I think. I really hope they update the steampunk glove textures to the new hi-res standards some day...
Thought I would add to the conversation, with my own steampunk toon. This was taken, partially, from one of the menders in Oro. A few coloration changes, and the shoulder fur from the magic pack. There's 3 or 4 variants of this costume on a few other toons, as I was trying to get the look 'just right', but this one seemed to be the sharpest of them all. Unfortunately, the clipping from the hair and the goggles kind of irks me, but it's something I can live with all the same.
Edit: Here's 2 other variants of the idea I just screenie'd and uploaded.

Dammit, I just dropped $10 on the Origins pack, before I thought of this question:
Can the double-breasted tunic in the Science pack pass for a uniform?
I've got a few steampunk characters myself - I'll edit this post later to add in a few more picks, but here's one of my steampunk robots:

Start from the beginning or it makes NO sense!!!
Very nice (and inspiring) themed costumes SlyGuyMcFly & Obsidian Light! Thanks for sharing.
ok, blew $10 on the Science pack *only* to get the double breasted lab coat, only to find there's no trim, and the second color changes the entire front, not the buttons. It makes you look like you're wearing a giant baby bib.
So, using the single breasted lab coat (purple with gold buttons,) the Occult top hat, wedding tux sleeves, resistance (I think) tucked pants (looks like cavalry pants with the stripe down the seam) and boots (forget which ones.)
I'll post an image tomorrow, but what I think would really look nice is the regular Praetorian PD uniform coat (not the armor.) I didn't recall seeing it in the costume creator, so it may not be available.
(As an aside, we should be able to have the "shooting star" Praetorian logo, like we have CoT, Arachnos, etc.)

I've always thought that the CoH universe lends itself to an GG-inspired backstory for player characters.
Clockworks = clanks. Clockwork King isn't the first person to put his consciousness into a metal body.
Dr Vahzilok is obviously a spark that had no formal training, with his constructs.
Nemesis? Say no more. How sparky can you get?
Nize hat, schmot guy.
I built a Jaeger costume once. Can't find it now, but I remember liking it at the time.

@Boltcutter in game.
being a huge fan of "Girl Genius", I was looking to make a character with the "gaslamp fantasy" feel, but there seems to be no real options aside from spiky epaulets and the "occult" Baron top hat. I was hoping we'd have some options similar to Nemesis uniforms, since we're allowed to choose Nemesis rifles in weapon customization.
Anyone had any success in making steampunk soldier costume?
