Finally.
Back before the EU launch, a few of us (myself included) who had been in the game since the beginning tried desperately to convince Cryptic/NCSoft that having a separate EU presence was completely unnecessary.
We were told they needed separate offices. They have since closed. We were told they needed local GMs because you couldn't do the job from another timezone, which was always clearly BS. And we were told they needed walled-off servers so they could concentrate the EU players onto a few servers so they could find teams easier, despite the fact that it was well-known then that Victory was the unofficial EU server (just as other servers had unofficial status, such as Virtue being the unofficial RP server).
We said they were wrong, and they said we didn't understand.
Now they've finally proved us right. And I'm not smug at all. NOT AT ALL.
On a positive note, I'm looking forward to seeing you on the 'classic' servers. I like to think that EuroCore's presence here still makes Victory the unofficial EU server in the US list, so feel free to stop by and say hello. 
Woah. Not sure if i want to reactivate my current eu account though but this is really nice.
I'll probably end up rolling something on union or defiant to plqy with old friends if they are still around.

When I popped Positron the question during the 1st sneak peek, we were told that they were not in a position to comment on it.
I can see that *part* of the problem would be that with the server lists being seperate, we would only be able to call upon Union,Defiant,Zukunft and Vigilence server.

What this translates to me is that I need to make a tech/robotic toon to finally run with Techbot Alpha, and some kind of undead/vampire slave for Liz Bathory.....SWEET it's about damn time!

Sorry to say this, but while it is a good thing to have equality throughout the playerbase I can forsee Defiant becoming like a ghost town within a few weeks of the list merge. people may not wish to pay for character transfers between servers but I can see some of Defiant's players disappearing onto other servers and once they get settled then they'll make the occassional character transfer and before you know it they hardly play on the 'EU' servers at all. I suspect Union will be the same. The Lure of more populated servers will be strong.

*shrugs* To be honest, there was *nothing* stopping an EU player from creating a US trial account to test the water and then going that way.
Hell, one thing that I would have them resolve would have been the inclusion of EU players into closed beta events (doesnt happen unless they have a US account), and that during the sneak peak events for I20, we had access to our own test server outside of the testing window.
Right now, I do believe that in the past 3 weeks the test server has been accesible for about 72 hours...
Hopefully what this server list merge/account merge might allow us is access to their beta server, so the test server is accesible outside of beta test times.

Hmm...this is extremely interesting. Although I'm on a GMT+2 time zone, I play on the US servers. I guess this is a great oppotunity for me to be able to play with people from around my time zone...pretty cool.

Just the thought of having the choice is the big plus in this. If you are working odd hours all of a sudden there is a choice of more populated servers to have alts on. If it's anything that customers demand, it's choice, and this will give us that option.
