Is it just me, or is Sister Psyche ...
... awfully dull?
A (stealth) kill all to open with. Fed Ex missions. A patrol through Talos. And ... 1 AV that's dual-able (my trapper and an ice tanker, this morning). One thing is TF has taught me: the devs make much better content now than they used to. |
But ever since the Devs reworked the Positron TF I've had renewed hope that eventually the other "original" TFs (like Sister Psyche) will get much needed makeovers as well.

Clearly the original oldest TFs created for CoH seven years ago are now among the most "dull" TF/SFs in the game. There's almost no way they couldn't be the dullest ones at this point.

Welcome to most blue-side stuff1
I agree the old ones need a revamp but I'll be pretty disappointed if they get revamps before we get a level 30-35 Strike Force. That hole has existed for 6 years now.

On another note, I love that the WST means that tfs like Sissy P's are getting player attention. Feedback for improvement is a plus, and means we may get updates in future. Keep 'em coming.

I still think Citadel is possible the dullest of the original six taskforces, it's the same map, same enemies, every single mission, not variation, not even in the final mission.
For dullest Taskforce in the game, well that goes to Dr Q. It's long (5 hours is considered a good time), no variation in enemy group and mostly reuses 2 maps.
This was designed back when time length = epic content, the longer the content, the more 'epic' the devs considered it. Thankfully they have since learned from this lesson.
All the Task Force Commander TFs and Shard TF's were/are dull. THe Posi Revamp was much needed, but sadly the others are very lacking. Repetative missions and anticlimatic endings make them a bore.
People may complain about the lack of ST/TF Villain side, but any of the original 4 are better than any of the TF Commander or Shard TFs hero side. I have made many comments on this topic the past week or so. But I prefer teh Villain quality over the Hero quantity any day.
Villain side has better SF and Missions. Too bad Apex and Tin Mage area also in that Anticlimatic endings. They did add some stuff to mix it up though, but that is coding and tech, not writting.

Odd.
Out of the 6 TFC TFs, Sister Psyche is my favorite. I just like killing Freakshow.
Now if I can just talk a team into a kill all so I can get some levels on my tank......
.....probably not gonna happen, because everyone is going to speed run it for the Notice.
Oh well, maybe I'll just form my own, specifically inviting non-50s who want the bonus merits and half a lavel of XP that we get at the end.

What I find odd is that the devs are choosing to highlight some of their weakest content by using the original TFs for the weeklies.
And, FWIW, I also find villain content tends to be better than hero -- less travel between zones, tighter storylines, more interesting fights, even a few unique maps.
But ... ugghhh. I can't see myself running more than 1 or 2 Psyches.
Yes, it's pretty terrible, particularly now that it includes Super Stunners, with their auto-rez that drains more than half your endurance, even if you kill them from the next county over. (I ran a Sister Psyche last night, and it's amazing how much the addition of this one enemy type slowed it down since my last run a month or two ago.)
The sad thing is that, awful as it is, it's one of the better i0 Task Forces. I mean, at least Freakshow look interesting. Wait until Synapse is a Strike Target, and then we'll see real wailing and gnashing of teeth. (My first TF ever, back in i3, was a Synapse. It took six and a half hours straight. Even with the buffs, speeding tricks, and experience we've all gained over the years, it still feels almost that long.)
At least the villain counterpart is Silver Mantis, which is one of the better Strike/Task Forces in the entire lower-level half of the game.

It would be nice to see the rest of the i0 TF's revamped and a level 30-35 Strike Force added. However, I don't see that ever happening. The devs seemed to have realized that, unlike a story arc, a Task Force can't just rely on a decent story to carry it, since only the team leader ever sees that. (Ironically, when I'm leading, even on non-speed runs, the team always seems to be in such a hurry that I never get to read the information.) Therefore, the devs try to make TF's special with unique maps or unique mechanics. Witness the new Posi TF's (almost all unique maps) or any SF. Those things, unlike writing and setting a mission to spawn a faction, take extra development time. With the game now focused on a rush to 50 and then repeated running of the same "raid" content, I don't think the development priorities are there for lower level stuff. Even if they were, it would take literally years to crank out an entire, new villain SF and revamp five (six, counting Moonfire) hero TF's.

Wait, you mean someone actually USES all those level 50 recipes and IOs that I throw at the market? Pft, level 25's FTW! You still get more enhancement value than SOs provide, you rarely suffer the effects of enhancement scaling when exemplared, and the set bonuses stay with you unless you're running REALLY low-level content... and then you don't need the set bonuses anyways!

I have a passionate hatred for Manticore's TF. You fight nothing but Paragon Protectors all over the place in a ploy to stop Crey and the bad things they do. Then, to end it all, you fight some no name bodyguard with fluorescent skin that's never been featured, or even mentioned, in any other form of content before this in some anti-climactic dingy warehouse, where he has the balls/stupidity enough to challenge you. Not only that, he's a complete push over in the fight itself, and our heroes are supposed to feel accomplished that they managed to beat a rent-a-guard in a suit that works for Countess Crey.
It's not even like fighting Captain Mako or Black Scorpion, people who have been featured quite a bit and have serious pull in their group. You fight some ******* guy in a suit. If you fought Hopkins before Countess Crey herself, that'd be completely different. But no. Just the damned bodyguard.
Hate that TF.
