Thanks alot for getting my hopes up and crushing them to oblivion. Although if Nathan Fillion gets rich to finance a TV series, then we might see Firefly: The Next Generation.

Now you know my pain when I first clicked on that headline. Wonder if Dr. Kaku will spend much time on terra and stellar forming in the verse.

Or if Lucas ever goes completely nuts and remakes the classic Star Wars, Fillion would be an excellent choice for Han Solo

After the karate kid, i was always assuming that will smith was just biding the time before he could put his kids in the starring roles of a star wars remake.

Segments on the science of Firefly? That feels kind of forced to me... I mean, part of the idea of the show is that a lot of episodes don't really have much tech except for the spaceships themselves. I guess we'll get a nice explanation of how floating chandeliers work in Shindig or something.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

Agreed. So they are showing what many of us have on the DVD set just now to try to make it more scientific.

Uh huh... right. These are just reruns!

Lame and pathetic. This is Much Ado About Nothing.

Anytime the flame of the Firefly is relit, new fans can be obtained and who knows? Maybe enough fan demand will rekindle the fire.

It was fans constantly asking about the Shepard that helped give us the Shepard's Tale.

Somewhat related: Firefly fan film for charity.

I have a friend that's going to love this news (assuming she gets the Science Channel). I finally saw the whole series sometime last year.

I hate FOX now.

If anyone hasn't read The Shepard's Tale, go read it. While the art wasn't spectacular it still gives the bulletpoint/highlights of Shepard Book's past, including his real name and who and what he was before becoming a shepard.

If you folks haven't seen, some fans also took that quote of Fillion's about how he'd buy the franchise if he won the lottery... and decided to see if they could raise enough money to buy it for him.

If it's that simple then the cast and crew could pool their money and become executive producers or something.

Personally I see this more as a sign that the Science Channel is going to pot. I mean is it really impossible to make a channel focused on science stay on science? They are already getting pretty damned sketchy with extraneous things like Idiots Abroad, but really this is pushing it. They seem to be going the way of The Learning Channel.

I imagine the ghost shows are inevitable.

I just didn't include the URL, because I couldn't read the blog where I initially saw it when I posted.

And, yeah, this seems to be happening to every science or learning channel. Documentaries and stuff don't draw in viewers, so hey, back to Mike Rowe wading through poop.

This is happening to just about every channel that started with a "focus". Cartoon Network now shows live-action shows and movies, Sci-Fi became Syfy and now shows wrestling and seems to be trying to get away from just science-fiction based shows. History Channel for the most part seems to show stuff that has a long history attached to it, not history itself. SPEED channel used to show a lot of racing from European road races, to local short tracks in the U.S. Now it's just a bunch of bs shows vaguely related to racing, with the occasional Australian V8 Supercar races, sports car races (ALMS, Rolex, etc), and of course most of the NASCAR weekend (not that I'm complaining about that ).

It's irritating.

Indeed. MTV and VH1 with the avoidance of music videos has long been a cliche. AMC showing recent movies also decided to pitch their raison d'etre over the side.

One is left wondering what the point of having 200 channels is if specialty channels are going the way of the dodo. I guess at least the Food network does stick to it's subject, though if I see one more cupcake show, I'm really going to freak.
