Hmm, Spidey looks pretty good in white, actually. The rest, eh, it's okay.

Is Spider-Man the new Wolverine? He seems to be in every book now. (Although, him taking over from the Torch seems natural, I called it way back when they announced one of the FF was going to die, I couldn't have been the only one).

I actually like the new look.

Christ alive, who the hell let Rob Liefeld draw the feet on Spidey in that one?
And why is everyone in the background a bobblehead?

And.. big money on Wolverine joining them for a bit within a month.
I like the new costumes. The black on white is appealing to me.

The art? Well, since I haven't bought a comic in years, I'm not too worried about that. It's competent enough, though I tend to like cleaner lines when I'm reading comics. I'm no art critic, nor a critic of comics.

You know, there's something about that image that I find a bit... funny?

Look at them all, smiling and riding cool vehicles. Um, not to be a party pooper or anything, but the FF was founded because Johnny died. And now they're all "Johnny is dead! Let's have FUN!"

I don't know, it bugs me for some reason...

I'm not a big fan of the Thing running around in his tighty-whitey boxer briefs, to be honest. >.<

I like the triple hexagon now that Johnny is gone. It shows they are technically not filling his spot... sorta... I also like the white and black. It's very simple and clean.

I haven't read an FF comic in forever so I have no clue who all those people are in the second pic. And why is Spidey there? Just to take up the smart mouth role? Heck make one of those kids do that. And what's up with the parrots? Did Jimmie Buffett drop by for a visit?

The winged monster thing is Dragon Man.

The little blonde girl is Valeria Richards.

I imagine one of the blonde guys is Franklin Richards, but I can't explain the second blonde male, or the other alien looking things and the birds.

And it's a guess, but I'd say Spidey is one of the first one's to join up for the Future Foundation. I doubt he's meant to do anything like replace Johnny's role outright.

It is a bit off-putting. But I do like the costume design.

So the Human Torch dies and the Fantastic Four form the Avengers?

Seems redundant.

So is Spidey going to need to wear two costumes under his civilian clothes now?

Is that leach in the top right?

So the Fantastic Four's dynamic of family and friends is being swept aside for a quasi-corporate version of the Avengers? And new costumes are supposed to convince the comics audience that "everything is fresh and new in the series again"?

Honestly, I think I preferred Professor Impossible forming the Violet Hour after he got divorced:

From the original link:

"FF will alter the very fabric of the Marvel Universe"

I'd love to read some comic company writer/higher-up describe a change their putting in place as "Meh... its not a big deal. You may wanna check it out, though."

it sucks that Johnny's dead. But, one, it obviously won't last, and two, we didn't actually see him die. So it's not like that particular out isn't already prebuilt into the plotline. As for the Future Foundation idea, putting aside the Batman Inc. commentary, i dig it. I wish the costumes had kept in the blue instead of going for all that white, but that's me.

As for the other blonde haired kid flying around behind the FF, that's Alex Power. Formerly of the kid group Power Pack. Though last i remember seeing him, the character was pushing the late teens. It's assumed he has all four sets of powers, but i think ive only seen him use the gravity power thus far. The idea behind the Future Foundation is that Reed slapped together a group of the smartest runts in the MU and told them to go fix stuff. (like for example coming up with even a temporary cure for Thing, allowing him to shift back from Rockboy to Ben Grimm for a week out of the year or so) Obviously they're taking it a step further.

The only gripe i have is that they did something similar after Civil War in that Reed was attempting to carry out the list of things he, Hank, and Tony had come up with before Registration so that they could 'save the planet.' im not seeing much of the difference between that and the pieces ive heard about this storyline.

The image, the entire idea behind, and the ridiculousness of concept only further enhance why I only read older comic books.

This sounds like a fairly lousy idea, but I do sort of like that white outfit on Spider-Man. (Of course, his original outfit is better- please don't kill me!)

On the last page of #587, it says "Next Issue: The Last Stand of Johnny Storm!" (or something to that effect). I think that means we'll see Johnny die in #588.

Prolly not. the advanced preview of FF#588 shows them already talking about Johnny being dead. So the whole issue will probably show the rest of the family mourning and lead in to the decision to start the future foundation. and the last page of the "3" comic is an all black background with the "3" symbol dead center, and the tag reading "The Last Stand of Johnny Storm". so the death is implied, but this is comics, no body means they probably aren't dead. a body means they area dead, but if you're an A-lister hero/villain, you'll eventually come back.
