Anyone else just flat getting:
"Mid's Hero designer has stopped working...
Windows is checking for a solution to the problem"

Then that window closes.. and nothing happens.

Windows 7 home premium 64 bit.

Usually this happens whenever one of the DLL files is missing (midsBase and midsControls). Doing a full reinstall should fix it.

Also, the current 'sizing' format doesn't allow all VEAT info (specifically the damage numbers) to fit on the screen; even with the window maximized and the Taskbar hidden.

Drag-and-drop is using lots of CPU, eh? Interesting. It's not causing any CPU usage increase while I'm dragging, but it's going way up after I drop until I move the mouse a ways. It's making that other program's CPU usage drop because WDM is higher priority, of course.

Has the way domination appears in Mids' actually changed? It's working the way I remember it...





I can't explain the hasten/domination activation time discrepancy...

We'll fix flight speed. I think we just forgot.

Workaround for the epic archetype damage issue: There's a little button that shrinks the display, at the top-right corner of that section.

Have you considered making popup SHIFT or CTRL sensitive (I wouldn't try to mess with ALT though)?

The behavior I'm seeing is that DWM's usage jumps while I'm dragging, then drops back to normal when I stop moving. I don't have to release the click to see the usage return to normal, it's only increased during movement.

The outline of the power bar is... laggy, as well. It trails behind the mouse movement, flickers in and out of visibility and doesn't appear at all unless the mouse is in motion. Like trying to move an open window with a low (single digit) refresh rate or extremely high HDD activity.

It's not displaying the bonus in the Info window. Prior to this update, toggling Domination on resulted in the Info window showing an increased duration for controls in the Info window. Now it doesn't.

Domination is on, mouse pointer is on Mesmerize, but the Info window doesn't indicate an increase to the duration of the control. It used to, it doesn't now. It's not just Mesmerize, it's all powers, just like Scourge, Containment and Vigilance aren't showing a damage buff for any powers.

It looks like it isn't detecting whether or not Inherent powers are active anymore. I know it got broken as part of some changes I made earlier, but I thought I fixed it (more likely, I fixed it, but the fix got lost in a Merge between DeProgrammer and myself). It'll get fixed with the next version.

Been using that for a few updates now. It's just rather annoying having to flick it back and forth, because it hides the other important numbers like mez duration and suchnot, a real pain on attacks with both and more numbers, such as Gravity Well etc. And you have to flick it back and forth between things like defensive toggles and attacks.

I updated my followup post to your earlier suggestion and took into account the info from the other thread as well.

I'm not getting that overlap; my fonts have been changed back to default and I think he's using a more recent OS than I am.

All it does is invert two thick rectangles in a set shape when the cursor isn't in the same position it was in last time it drew a rectangle. (First it re-inverts where the rectangle was last time, then it inverts where it should be now.) When the cursor position doesn't change, it doesn't do anything. The drawing procedure is triggered by the mouse move window event, which I would think is identical across all computers, so it's like your computer is just having excessive trouble simply inverting a handful of pixels. I'll enable double-buffering on the main window and see if that helps. It should.



Techbot, I'll see what I can do about reducing the maximum height of the primary/secondary power lists, so it will reduce that size instead of making you reduce the info box's size. I didn't plan on leaving you with nothing but a workaround. :P (Edit: Fixed.)

Ugh, keep getting the 'A recently updated pack has not been applied' thing at boot up. I seemed to get the mini-fix that was posted a day or so ago twice, which might be causing something whacky.

Not an A grade problem, but it is mildly irritating everytime I boot up to have to let it fix itself everytime.

You can't shift-click? :P If it's that important to you, I'll send you a private fixed EXE...

Bugs fixed so far in my copy:
  • It was not possible to remove slots by double-clicking
  • Some users may experience serious slowdown and flickering when click-and-dragging (I *think* it'll be fixed, but I can't test it)
  • Damage value/graph was beyond the visible range of the window under certain common circumstances
  • It was not possible to mouse-wheel to scroll several windows (recipe viewer, accolades/temps windows, incarnate window, in-game helper). The fix for this improved compatibility with weird mouse wheeling systems like laptop touch pads.

Thanks for the update, but I'm getting a load error on one of my builds. The popup window's name is "ReadSaveData Failed" and error reads "Unable to read data - Unable to read beyond the end of the stream." I assume this means that the save is corrupt? Why did it load fine in the last Mids?

If it helps, the character in question is an Electrical Blast/Fire Manipulation/Leviathan Mastery Blaster.

Agreed. I'd like to see the whole buff effect on powers maybe with a ( ) or something to show the Alpha boost.


I second having an easier way to toggle the alpha on/off maybe an inherent slot called Alpha Slot that lets us choose the alpha enhancement much like the normal ones that we can just toggle on/off via green button.

EDIT: By the way that drag a power feature around is FABULOUS!

I wasn't aware you could shift-click to remove slots. Learn something new every day! Will make a good workabout for now, hehe.

Try running the MHDLoader.exe file as administrator. That should get it to load that properly.
