Mids' Hero Designer 1.92 - With Alpha Slot!
What about exemplar functionality? Is there any work going on to allow people to see what their build looks like when exemplared down to different levels?
"But in our enthusiasm, we could not resist a radical overhaul of the system, in which all of its major weaknesses have been exposed, analyzed, and replaced with new weaknesses."
-- Bruce Leverett, Register Allocation in Optimizing Compilers
Try running the MHDLoader.exe file as administrator. That should get it to load that properly.

Confused much.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Apparently, I play "City of Shakespeare"
*Arc #95278-Gathering the Four Winds -3 step arc; challenging - 5 Ratings/3 Stars (still working out the kinks)
*Arc #177826-Lights, Camera, Scream! - 3 step arc, camp horror; try out in 1st person POV - 35 Ratings/4 Stars
Also, as a "you're doing it wrong" item, if you have one of the respec-assist windows open and you go back to the main window and try to open another one, the first one remains up, but the one you just asked to open apparently gets created and gets the focus, but isn't displayed; because it has the focus, you can't close the first respec-assist window or do anything with the main window, requiring you to force-exit the program and restart it (losing any unsaved data in the process). Admittedly, it's a "well, don't do that, then" situation, but it's something that could happen by mistake.

I am also confused much. :/ It's supposed to flag an update file as being done, but it seems to have problems with that. I wonder if it as has to do with the application cache for Program Files not getting updated... I'm probably going to have to do a reworking of the Updater anyway, since it still has some issues with Win7/Vista (the only known work around is to install Mids somewhere other than C:Program Files; I have it on D:Program Files and it works just fine).

Got a Mids suggestion? Want to report a Mids bug?
Is there a place for me to download the Database update seperately without using the In-program updater? Because I can't get the Auto-Updater to go through the proxy for the Update even with the proper authorization on my account (My account is administrator level/priviliges). I even tried running both MHDLoader and Mids.exe via the global adminstrator account (Run as) for my network and still ran into the issue. My Proxy server is a regular ISA client if that makes any difference. And I also have the "ISA Client" program installed on my laptpo which allows me to surpass the proxy and be able to play CoH in my office, but doesn't seem to help with Mids.
EDIT: Figured I'd add that I'm using Win XP SP3 if that makes any difference...though I doubt it.

Usually this happens whenever one of the DLL files is missing (midsBase and midsControls). Doing a full reinstall should fix it.

Should I change the name?
Thank you for any help!

Reinstall is not fixing it, I also do not have a .DLL named midsBase... just Base.Dll.
Should I change the name? Thank you for any help! |
You should have:
Base.dll - Date modified 2/2/2011
midsControls - Date modified 2/5/2011
ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.dll - Date modified 8/25/2010
zlib1.dll - Date modified 8/25/2010

Download that file, put it in your Mids directory, and rename it to mhd.mhz. Then when you load Mids, it should give you a message about an unapplied update and ask you to apply it. Say yes.

Blerg, Datalink now refuses to work to directly open stuff, despite having Mids set to run as Admin, as I keep getting the 'Previous update not applied' schtick again and again, and when its done with that whole rigmarole it then loads a blank build.

Do any other colorblind folks find the Incarnate/Accolade/Temp Power menus completely unusable? I can't tell the difference between an activated/deactivated power due to the colors being so damn similar. Is there any way to change the color of an activated power so that it is substantially different than deactivated powers?

I checked the settings and the options for Slot being level-swapped is too low for (source/destination) power.
-Allow swap (invalid)
-Show Dialog
-Cancel
I see the terminology for shift exists and wonder why it isn't offered as an option?
I'd love if the program could calculate whether you have too many slots in higher level powers and if not shift slots in such a way that you could indeed drag a level 13 slot to a level 30 power if there was another slot somewhere that was usable there.
Basically allow me to move around slots as I like as long as I don't put too many slots in higher powers. Something like reassign slot levels from bottom to top I guess?
This sound cool but doesn't offer the feature I think would me most useful.

Level swapping doesn't retain the enhancement, so if you really don't care what level the slot is, use the Auto-Arrange All Slots function I put into the Slots menu. It starts with the powers that can be slotted the earliest and puts the lowest level slots in them, then moves to higher and higher powers. Slot level swapping is just for those people who want quicker but still absolute control of their slots' levels.
I didn't finish coding the Shift stuff yet. Shifting is part of the "Move" method, which could be described better as "cut and insert a power."

This was done because, unlike the Data View window on the left, there is no ability to do a mouseover of the Enhancement numbers to find out how much of the enhancement comes from your slots and how much comes from the Alpha Slot. My choices were to either overloaded the popup with enhancement data, making it difficult to read, or to choose between displaying the final amount or the pre-Alpha Slot amount, and I chose the later because I felt that would be more immediately useful to people when they are filling their slots.
|
The popup already has a Pre-ED notation. Perhaps you could do something similar, taking up as little space as possible. For example, the popup could be changed to display the alpha slot numbers after a slash. This would be an example with the Cardiac Partial Core Revamp:
Buff/Debuff Value Accuracy 47.70% Damage 99.08 (Pre-ED: 127.2%) EnduranceDiscount 47.70/79.10% (Pre-ED: 81.0%) Range 15.94/35.94% ...
The only time you really wouldn't want that to show up is when you're exemped, and that will be taken care of when you implement the exemping stuff.
Alternately, you could just have a separate line for the values including the alpha slot boost. Most powers will only have one or two values modified by the alpha slot, and you're already wasting one line by having the prompt telling the user to see the Data View.
This is just a.random idea.. But am I the only one that wishes thare was a mids smartphone app.
