Level Shift Mapserver Crash/Reward Rollback Issue
See, that's the nice thing about actually *testing* stuff before pushing it live. You actually get to find out about potential game crashing bugs that render content unplayable *before* they become a problem. No crystal ball required!
And lets all bear in mind Avatea's suggested work-around: Don't slot Rare Incarnate abilities. So we have a bugged publish that, according to the patch notes, serves no purpose other than unlocking the second two tiers of the Alpha slot, and the suggestion for dealing with it is don't use any enhancements from the second two tiers of the alpha slot? I reiterate my position that these problems all could have been avoided if this publish had been adequately tested and that whomever is responsible for pushing it live dropped the ball big time. |

I was on the first STF with Litch king, and i only had lvl 2 alpha slotted on my tank. but on Freedom i have done several STF with my earth/emp controller both with and without the lvl 3 slotted and no problems. This reminds me of when they released Issue 2 on a Friday,that added the respec tf, and also a mini invasion, the server was going up and down like a yo-yo.
The main reason was a convention was happening that weekend and they wanted to be able to
"crow" about it.

Sounds like it might be psuedopets that do damage + levelshift which causes this.
Not sure this is related to the main issues of this thread, but it's the first time it's happened and coincided with the release yesterday.
I was playing on Pinnacle with my alpha-less lvl 50 dominator. There were numerous lag and server instability issues the whole time I was on, both solo and teamed with 2 friends (both not lvl 50).
Anyway, for our first team mission I changed my difficulty and wanted to abandon an old mission I had outleveled (it was 46) so I could then reset to 50 with more mobs and bosses. I had it selected, but couldn't abandon it. I then selected a different mission to see if I could then select the old mission I wanted to abandon. I finally could abandon it. I then called the contact back to rechoose the mission, but instead of offering it to me, I got a previously completed mission instead.
This was the arc from Sister Airlia. The mission I wanted to abandon was Talk to Sister Solaris. The mission she gave me was Free Fortunata Bramlett. I had already done Bramlett a couple nights earlier and had left off with Solaris that was farther down the arc tree. I coulda sworn these 2 missions were in the same arc.
So long story short, abandoning and resetting an outleveled mission reset the whole arc to the beginning. Not sure that's supposed to happen. Maybe if they were linked missions?
But it kind of sounds like the resetting of awards and completion for these bugged strike forces.

Yeah, I ran an STF with my inv/ss tank, got my rare, created it and slotted it just before leaving the last mission after the TF was over.
The team then decided to run a LGTF. We couldn't get past the first group of Rikti before being mapserved. This happened twice. Not only that but our team was split into two or more teams. Someone managed to fail the first mission, but on the second mission same thing. We kept getting mapserved.
After leaving the TF I was able to run two of Gaussian's missions just fine.
Uber Talgrim - level 50 emp/dark defender
Uber Rod - level 50 dark melee/regen scrapper
Rod Valdr - level 50 invuln/SS tanker
Talgrim - level 50 ninja/dark mastermind

From all the testing in other threads, it seems the crash is caused by level shifted pets summoning their own pets. If you have no pets, rares seem to be safe.

did a mission this morning with the rare equipped and used PA but didn't spawn phantasm. no problems. i realized it wasn't necessarily the rare slot itself, but this could be it.
what pets spawn other pets? phantasm spawns it's decoy, does plant's pet spawn anything? i can't think of a MM pet that does either.

This makes sense. The character I've been having the most trouble with is an Elec/Elec Brute. I think Lightning Rod and Chain Induction both involve multiple pseudopet iterations. At least, I've seen both get "defeated" by KoA Caltrop Patches in my combat logs somehow...

Running missions since last night on both a level shifted widow and blaster, not a single issue of any kind. The servers seem to have a bit more lag than usual but thats it.

Carrion Creep spawns Carrion Creepers, Ninjas spawn Caltrops, the Tier 2 Robots summon Seeker Drones when upgraded, and the Tier 3 Robots spawn a Missile Patch when upgraded. Haven't had a chance to test if the Thug Arsonist causes a crash with the burn patch spawned from his Molotov Cocktail.

I completed a RSF on my shield tank.. crafted the rare boost after I exited the map.. no issues.. within 30 minutes I joined a team that was running a STF.. completed it.. No issues.. went to AP to go to the market.. then went to stand under the atlas statue to look at what was needed for the last tier boost.. DC'd twice while looking that up. Went to steel canyon.. DC'd twice as well..

Seems like something else is going on if some people are having trouble with +1'd LR/PA and others aren't.
Phantom Army doesn't cause the problem, but Phantasm does. Phantasm casts a Decoy Phantasm. Fulcrum Shift is a pseudopet, and those don't seem to be triggering the problem.

This all occurred during combats with grey-con mobs in which her Phantom Army was heavily involved; just using her attacks did not, after some 5 minutes, result in a crash, whereas the Phantom Army caused a crash on all occasions within that timeframe. |
My Fire/Shield Scrapper [Musculature Total Core Revamp] experienced no crash issues in any ... pseudopet attack Shield Charge was utilized and presented no issues. I even had her summon a Shivan to test the pet hypothesis; No crashes occurred. |

There does seem to be a correlation between pets who summon their own pets and the crashes. I ran through a variety of different scenarios solo this morning in tip and newspaper missions on my Bots/traps MM and these are my results:
Protector Bots summon seeker drones= crashed 100% of the time.
Assault Bot uses incendiary missiles= crash, but only about 50% of the time. If only one burn patch is summoned, or all enemies die quickly after missile usage I did not experience a crash. Multiple burn patches at the beginning of engaging an enemy resulted in crashes.
Acid Mortar=no crashing experienced.
Poison trap=no crashing experienced.
Running missions with all henchman/available traps, but no upgrades on bots=no crashing experienced.
Mastermind summons own seeker drones=no crashing
Hopefully this is helpful.
Everyone who has had crashes should avoid using pets that spawn pseudopets or other pets, and I'm confident they won't have any more crashes. I'm thinking it's a perfect solution until the devs get around to fixing the bug.
Also, spam everyone you know with this suggestion in case the fix takes more than ten minutes, because everyone wants to have their uberness now. :P

My theory so far has seemed fairly solid (and is cast-iron for my own experience - I can run with all my level shifted bots so long as only Drones get the L32 upgrade and no other type)
They posted earlier in this thread. It does seem to conflict with what others have said.
I was on 3 STFs last night, pretty much back to back to back.
STF #1 - I was hosting. There was one level 50+1 on the team (I think it was only one) and we had no issues aside from a little lag. We had one disconnect but the person returned shortly. STF #2 - I was a member and was now level 50+1. No issues aside from a little lag. STF #3 - See above. For what it's worth, I had the Nerve Core Partial Revamp slotted and I was using my Fire / Kinetics Controller. Sadly, no Hamidons were spawned due to dancing yesterday evening |

I too want to thank the Devs and give them a big thumbs up. As an old fart who's been playing MMORPGS for many years, this is a MINOR bug compared to some of the totally horrid launches for games/expansions/etc.
We'll live, it's not a big deal. PITA? yes. Again, we'll live.
