hey everyone i have been "playing"(if you can call it that on the rig i was useing) this game for a couple of years and i just now got to enjoy it because i got a new computer. i have a question as the title says. how long on average does it take to get to lev 50. my main hero is a lev 29 inv/ss tank,so'd out. he seems to be leving realy fast(he gained 4 levs in one week with me playing with 2 alts for much more time than him). so i was wondering how long should it take to get him to lev 50 alongside my so'd out km/ea brute as my other toon(i am taking a break from the third because i can find no one redside on the server he is on) oh and the brute was made one week ago. sorry if this post is messy,i am brand new to the forums. anyway please help me out.

The answer is......there is no answer

It varies from person to person and toon to toon. Depends on play time and play style. I bet if you tried to power through you could get your last 21 levels in a week or two, faster if power leveling is involved and slower if you take time to smell the roses. So I'll say you should get from 1 to 50 in 1 week - 7 years

According to my Vet badges, I've been playing at least 3 years. I have...

...one level 50.

So if you make a lot of alts, it can be a very long time. On the flip side, I have taken every AT to 20, and every one of the original hero powersets to 20 as well.

about my play style i only play 1 hero and 1 rogue and i team all the time. the only thing i am taking my time on is croatoa arcs. i love that place!

We can't really answer that with a number of days or weeks. The best way to measure is by number of hours played. You can check how many hours you have played a particular toon by walking up to any citizen whose name begins with the letter M and clicking on them.

There was a lot of discussion about this at least a year ago and the consensus, AT THAT TIME, was between 200 and 250 hours was pretty typical. Since then, there was 'xp smoothing' and some other reward changes so the *AVERAGE* player should hit 50 a bit quicker now - perhaps 160-200 hours?

Those numbers assume "typical" play - i.e. some chatting with friends, spending time at the consignment house, doing some exploring, etc. Someone in a hurry to hit 50 could do it in a LOT less hours..... but would it be fun?

I leveled my Fire/SS tank to 50 in 2 days, about 11 hours /played. That was in AE. I wouldn't do that on a normal character, and I definitely would never do it if I hadn't experienced most of the story arcs in the game - they're where the real fun is.

It took me about 7 months worth of play to reach 50 the first time. In the roughly 4 years since then, I've got... 3 50s. Of course, that's with two 7 month deployments, lots of time hanging out chatting, playing the market, tinkering with AE (and no arcs yet published!) and a healthy amount of time playing that same original 50, just because I love the character. There are people who will take characters from 1-50 in this next double XP weekend, and others who have yet to reach it over the course of years. Honestly, it takes as long as it takes, and the point isn't really to reach 50 but to have fun doing it. Everyone's got a different journey, enjoy yours.

If you are playing the game for content it can take a lot longer than if you are playing just to level. I myself prefer playing for content so it takes me months to get to 50 what with altitis and such. And just so you know levels 1-10 are blindingly fast if you are in a team. The twenties go by fast too. But at about level 40 you will seem to hit a wall. I would say if you aren't running task forces then it takes as long from 40 to 50 as it takes from 1 to 40.

I have 50s that have taken 40-400 hours of game time (I don't farm/PL), around 150-200 is fairly normal if you're playing something that's a decent soloist.

My last few 50s have all taken about 100 hours of time logged in to reach level 50. They've all been in a level pact with a friend of mine, but he never plays without me so some of the time I play at half xp and the rest at full xp. Sadly I never get to enjoy the XP for nothing part

I'm down to 150-175 hours of play time to 50 mostly soloing. But one of my first characters took me almost 700 hours.

I would expect if I teamed and ran Task Forces I could get that down to around 100 so theoretically this weekend with 2XP I could get one there in 50 hours if I could get 50 hours to play.

Don't worry about it. Just play and you will hit 50.

It's not about how fast or how many 50's.

Sit back and enjoy the ride.

It really does depend on a lot of factors.... Character set, play style, friends and Fun Factor, and what you do once you log in (I know I'm leaving out a lot of stuff...), playing a lot of Alt's will seriously damper lvling a character to 50 in a timely manner....

But I typically lvl a new character to 20 in 3 to 5 hours - Teaming. I've also seen friends PL to 50 in 18 hours so it all depends... don't focus on getting to 50 just enjoy the ride there.

It takes as long as you make it take. If you play with that toon frequently they'll get there pretty fast, especially if you team a lot. If you don't, they won't get there quick. It's really that simple.

awsome info guys. im not trying to bum rush it to 50 but i think you can understand me wanting to know a little bit on average on how fast it takes to 50 because my old computer was so slow it would take 5 min minium to load a mission map(dont even ask how slow it was to load a zone). because i have a great computer now i can,and do, team almost all the time. anyway ty for the great info, off to play the game!!!!!

not sure what exactly a "timely manner" is supposed to mean (200+ alts here, after all,) but yes, it'll take longer in "real" time, but makes no difference to hours played, since you're not concentrating on just one character.

A better question than "How long to 50?" would be "How long to fun?" The answer to that is: as long as it takes to get past the login screen.

Have fun, the 50s will happen.

My first 50 took me 606 hours. My most recent took 160. Combinations of teaming/soloing on both.

Absolutely -- most of the game is still about the journey and not the destination! (That being said, I do mention my stable of 50's in my sig so people think I at least have SOME experience with different AT's. But don't tell anybody that they're almost all scrappers, tankers, blasters and blappers or how clueless I am when it comes to playing support...uhhhh. Ooops. [starts hitting 'backspace'] Ummm. Yeah. Nothing to see here -- move along!) )

I've also got wildly varying numbers to report on how long it took me to hit 50. With my first toon it took a couple of years in real time, between playing tons of alts, roleplaying, and not trying to outlevel the rest of my old SG.

At the other end of the spectrum, when my baby Trick Arrow/Archery defender got kicked from a team the second time in one night -- "and just which part of 'no, I DON'T have a heal NOR can I get one' don't you grasp?!" -- I wound up using all the skills in team leadership I'd picked up the previous month when teaming with some very good leaders and started making my own teams. I used the "Search window" and polite yet specific "tells" like "Hi -- still LFT? We're a level 35ish radio mission team in Brickstown -- would you be interested?" I used Broadcast, and global channels, and started looking for replacements the instant someone said "think this is my last mission tonight."

I'd play almost every night for a few hours, often with many of the same players who'd "/friended" me on previous nights -- and this was in the days when we still had to juggle sidekicks. We'd just form a team, run radio missions nonstop like maniacs for an hour and a half or so, "take five" as a group to sell/train/afk and plunge right back into it. "No, we go in when six of us are ready, remember? Don't worry -- I'll catch up!"

I went from 0 to 50 in 17 calendar days, though I didn't play every one of those nights.

I also started raiding my personal SG's inspie dispenser for Resurgences and carrying six or seven of them around.

"HEAL you? Yeah...here you go. Just don't expect me to make a habit out of that...."

"But it wasn't anything some purples and oranges and lots of screaming in fear couldn't handle." -- Werner

30 level 50's: 12 scrappers, 7 other random melee types, 11 blaster/blapper/support squishies, two accounts, and a TON of altitis since 4/28/04

Having got back into the game after a few years hiatus, i had one level 41 MM, a 32 scrapper and assorted alts in the teens and low 20's.
Currently i have most of the alts in the mid 20's now and added a level to the scrapper and the MM since i can't help trying out the alts.
I figure i'm in no hurry and will level them pretty evenly if at all possible and just enjoy the ride.....
As others said, as long as your having fun don't worry about the levels.

You could always just give up on Sharkhead and push onward to St. Martial or Nerva and get on teams there. Just because you are not yet 25 does not mean you have to restrict yourself to your level's zone.

Right now a lot of people are probably hanging around in Pocket D bashing snowmen and such.

I still say this is the most fun game ever and it's getting close to 7 years for me.
