New horror film -- Rubber

'Rubber' is a new film about an abandoned tire named Robert, who for unexplained reasons comes to life in the desert. Endowed with paranormal powers, Robert apparently falls in love with a woman and goes on a spree killing everyone in his way.

Okay, I know that made no sense, but watch the trailer and you'll see that the concept looks awesome.

I look forward to a new 'inanimate object' body mesh for villains. And heroes. You never know, there might be a truck bumper somewhere that's a good samaritan.

Wait ... how is that film not a joke? It being good or not is aside the point here. Just ... what?

It's like Chucky, but with a tire instead of a doll!

OR like Jack Frost, but with a tire instead of a snowman!

It doesn't seem to be a joke and is gathering traction. It may be worth it to wheel it out on Netflix. I wouldn't bother lugging it through the mail. I would tread lightly on any expectations for it to not fall flat.

Wait, are you making a joke? I can't quite tell... *shakes joke meter* I think there's something wrong with this thing.

...also, I think the LA weekly quote says it all. =D.

Looks fun.

Looks fun.

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought, "Must be a Stephen King novel about a demon-possessed pencil eraser."

I wasn't too far off.

So, even if this isn't a joke, it's a spot-on straight-faced parody of modern horror films with 2 dimensional supernatural threats. Yeah, I'm looking at you, Christine.

Maximum Overdrive 2: A Tire Survived?

A godforsaken attempt at a big budget Troma movie?

I admit, I've watched some really ******* stupid movies in my time, but this has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.

Tales of Judgment. Also here, instead of that other place.

good luck D.B.B.

When will this sort of thread tire us?

The official tagline is, "Are you TIRED of the expected?"

And I just found that the movie has an official website. This movie's real. It apparently was aired at the Cannes Film Festival, where it flopped, but it's getting a lot of attention as a cult movie now.

The worst cult film I ever saw was 'Jesus Christ, Vampire Hunter'. This film may take its title away.

I found the preview a bit tiresome, spinning in its tracks, but your mileage may vary. I'll wait and see it on the tube; afterall, noone's expecting a blowout. In any case, since they've given it the greenlight (inflated expectations, imo), this movie could pave the way for other silly object retreads such as 'killdozer' or 'christine'. Nothing to get pumped up about. Now, on to other threads...

Glad I'm not the only one.

Oh, you mean like THIS one, which was distributed by TROMA and had special effects done by H. R. Giger?

What a delightfully stupid concept. It just might work, or in any case be an entertaining movie.
