I think they have a flame thrower because Anti-Matter is a villain and for villains everything is better with a flame thrower or gatling gun attached to it. 
The Clockwork will clean up dirt ... by any means necassary.
Which includes incinerating it 
I was doing some playthroughs of City of Heroes. Now they will serve as memories of a better time ...

In his defense, I suppose he feels that the Freedom Phalanx needs to try to keep a professional look before other heroes as inspirational role models, and Sister Psyche (his apparent second in command, if I recall) arguing with her husband (who is arguing back and is supposed to be pretty damn professional by nature) about having kids in front of other heroes doesn't feel "Yes, we're ready to take on anything Arachnos, Rikti, or Praetoria can throw at us."
In defense of the rest of the Phalanx, Fort Trident IS kind of a super group base for them where you're supposed to be able to take a little bit of a load of and breath before the next disaster strikes.
Also, States was probably cranky because his SG base isn't nearly as spiffy and functional as the Vanguard's.

If Black Scorpion is responsible for them I can only hope that he is never allowed to design a zone/write dialogue without adult supervision again.

They then needed a place to put the store.... and a few other bells and whistles (access to all the TF/SF Givers) so they cobbled together a little spot with a pre-existing map and some custom contact text. I wouldn't expect it to show the same effort of something like Studio 55.

While I can rant about these zones for days with itemized lists of everything that I hate about them, I probably shouldn't hijack this thread anymore. My apologies, Amazing Guy. I'll stop.

Actually, I think Fort Trident should use the Vindicators' base map (I forget which villain arc it is, but you plow through almost all of the Vindicators, and there are Longbow in offices with computers and other neat stuff). THAT, to me, has always been my visualization for what FT should look like. And oh yeah... it should be in IP. Not Atlas.
The Crucible, by comparison, should be something similar but Arachnos in flavor. Like one of the instanced Arachnos maps where they have their shooting range, the weapons niches, the computer bays, etc... Hell, even that underground map where you fight Wrath and something and something else while Arachnos minions watch. (You can leave it in Mercy, that's cool.)
As for where we get our A-merits? Supercomputer of some kind. Something big, impressive, that bleeps and looks like it's capable of storing power of amazing capability. With all the nifty stuff we can stick in a base, something like that should be used for A-merits.
ANYWAY... back to B.O.T.L.E.R.:
I wonder if he's the result of Posi tying one on the night before with Synapse, Manticore, Foreshadow, and the gang, and then having to explain to Statesman the following day what the hell he built after losing a round in Truth or Dare.
