What Are You Doing With Your Extra Shards

I'm making booties for mah babies!
Saving them for the rest of the Alpha slot and all the eventual things that will open up.
The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.
If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-
I move on to the next character.
Of course at some point I'm going to go back to my "finished" characters. They'll just be saving up shards.

Extra...shards? You know, I understand these words individually, but put together like this they make no sense whatsoever.
I'm saving them for the rest of the system. Interestingly enough...
I went Cardiac Radial. 33% EndRdx, 20% DamRes.
However, the Cardiac Core Paragon has 45% EndRdx, 20% DamRes, and 20% Range.
So while I'm using Cardiac Radial, I'm using the extra shards to save up and craft for the Radial tree.
My guides:Dark Melee/Dark Armor/Soul Mastery, Illusion Control/Kinetics/Primal Forces Mastery, Electric Armor
"Dark Armor is a complete waste as a tanking set."
I'm saving for the rare and very rare Alpha powers. I got two uncommons made. Now I just let the shards and components pile up.

I've got 4 Uncommons crafted on my main. Now I'm just stockpiling for the tier 3/4 unlocks.

I've mostly been making more uncommon boosts. I suspect the devs will make it very hard/impossible to make the higher level boosts solely using stockpiled shards simply to stop people from getting the high level boosts on the day they are released.
I got my second shard! Whee!
I think it will be a while before I have any extras...
I roll mine around in my left hand while looking for my strawberries.
Once I have enough, I think, I'll start bathing in them, or maybe make thme into a dress like Marilyn's for her JFK birthday song

I expected to stop chasing shards as soon as I finished the Cardiac Core, but I'm enjoying the additional range and smoother endurance usage so much that I'm still logging in nightly to spend an hour or three just obliterating spawns and watching for that giggle-inducing "Incarnate Shard Bonded" message.
Having gotten enough purples, rare drops and relatively desired uncommon recipes to rack up 2.5 billion influence in the last couple of weeks (i had less than 25 million when I19 went live), as well as topped 700 badges, including Leader, hasn't done much to deter me from playing my main, either.

With alts, lowbies, 20 50s, "Extra" doesn't exist yet. (Plus I work when most people run TFs.) I think the farthest along I am on anyone is a component (maybe two, on those I bought the Gr'ai Matter on) and one shard.

I've found that now that I have an Uncommon in my couple Incarnates, I don't have any real drive to try to make enhancements in the other aspects (my earth/storm controller doesn't really have need for a damage one over the other options) and so the shards are just sort of building up. I still run task forces but I'm getting back into selecting merit rewards over components. |

Finished about half the current tree off, probably will finish the other half soon. If you notice that you need the lower rung shards crafted again to crawl up the tree, and it branches off twice it means that getting enough components to craft for the upper tiers will take a whole ton of shards.
It looks like most people will not be able to be compleatists with regards to the incarnate tree unless they spend an awful long time at it.
Only 150 shards so far. I'd feel more comfortable having filled the entire set and having about 1500 shards in reserve for the next tier.
Too bad you can't sell them...

I assume many people by now already have their Uncommon piece for their Alpha slot and so are essentially "done" with that part until I20 (assuming I20 brings more Incarnate additions). Given that you continue collecting shards, what are you doing with them? Are you crafting extra Common/Uncommons to flip between Damage and Recharge and Endurance? Are you just hording them up so someday you can make an Extra Rare on the fly with your box of 350 shards? Have you slowed down on doing task forces since the shard motivation has tapered off?
