The questions that come to mind are:
Is she going to be a teenager or an adult?

If this is gonna be a replacement for Smallville is it about Raven's life on Azarath?

If its based on Earth are they going to mention she's from Azarath? Or retcon her origins to Earth-only and make her the standard gloomy girl that uses sorcery to fight stuff?

To be honest though the more I think about it the more I can't see how it could be different from watching Buffy, Charmed or Supernatural and can Raven really carry an entire show by herself? She seems to work the best with the Titans.

The biggest thing for me comes down to who plays her and will it be better then that horrible comic miniseries she got.

Bold move considering that Raven probably isn't well known outside comics circles.

Also, ZOMG CW is encouraging witchcraft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's see;

Supernatural
Vampire Diaries
Hellcats
America's Next Top Model (they must be reanimated skeletons)

They've been dealing with the dark side for a while now.

I've been wracking my brain to think of who would make a good Raven. Right now all I can think of is Lyndsy Fonseca of Nikita. 10 years ago I would have been screaming for Emily Perkins (of Ginger Snaps) to get the role, and Christina Ricci 15 years ago.

Addendum: Alessandra Torresani (of Caprica) just came to mind as another choice.

That's what I'd expect from the station that brought us Smallville. Probably the typical thing of the "goth girl longing to fit in". Predictable, played out, and wholly uninteresting.

It's possible they could surprise me and make it well, but I kinda doubt it.

Hmm this can be awesome... or it can be a pretty white kid with problems with magic thrown in.... ugh..

personally I'd prefer to see a show about Black Alice and Misfit. I mean, what could be more fun than watching a spunky clumsy teenaged girl with teleporting powers that is unpopular for some weird reason interacting with a popular goth teenaged girl with the ability to take any magic of other peoples.... and they hate each other...and are sisters... That is a perfect set up for an awesome series.

also they aren't well known or well developed characters so they could do a lot with them without stepping on anyones' toes.

Ah, The Adventures of Emo Goth Girl! Coming soon to a CW near you!

Buffy was supposed to be the perky cheerleader whose dark side is slaying vampires. She eventually became constantly gloomy and dark and sad -- an emo girl without the emo make-up and black clothes. And, I wasn't put off by that. There were some lighter elements in there. But it was also a drama and slaying isn't an occupation that keeps one perky.

Now imagine Buffy starting off all dark and gloomy and emo and clothed in black. Where do you go from there? That's the problem that Raven will have as the star of the series.

She starts off gloomy and emo, but then turns into happy sunshine princess.

Eh, one character does not make (or break) a series.

I can easily envision a show surrounding Raven... in fact, I can see it working in several different ways. That - in and of itself - is all right.

Its a question of the supporting cast, for me. What role will they play, and how will they be maintained in the series?

If people loved that Daria spin off from Beavis and Butthead I don't see a live action Raven show being impossible to get people to like.

Remember how Aquaman seemed like a very odd choice to center a series on, and by all accounts, the live-action Aquaman pilot from a few years ago was pretty good.

For some reason I see them casting Taylor Momsen in the role despite her blonde hair and having never actually seen her act. But she seems to have the emo goth girl act down pat.

The fact it is on the CW tells what it will be. She'll be a teenager (like every other show on the station), won't be set in Azarath (unless Azarath is set in some pseudo-metropolitan area where teen drama can be drawn from), and the sorcery will be a second thought to the drama.

And she will be stalked by/dating a demon guy who slightly glows in sunlight and wants to protect her from the other evil demon types as which he isn't evil since he is too dreamy.

Of course it could be a nice mix of Supernatural and Smallville... and even if is good people will still complain about something so meh

Raven? Her own show? Really? She wouldn't be my first choice, but if they are going to pick the less known ones for T.V ,then I am not going to complain.

It just means that maybe someday down the road, someone will actually consider doing a real Suicide Squad show/movie.I would love to see writer John Ostrander's version of the Squad on the screen.

I know it wasn't a popular book, but if you want a good character driven read, then it doesn't get much better than that series.Ostrander's run on the Spectre was just as good too.

I still miss those books.
