2 Billion per Enhancer (and other abuses)
Good luck... because I don't think you are going to get much traction on this one.
Consider that you need nothing more than SOs to do any content in the game in the fashion that it was intended. IE, you can contribute to defeating an AV or Monster significantly, but won't likely defeat one without a team. There are no TFs that you can't participate on and contribute too. So everything is accessible to you with just SOs and insps.
You now have the ability to get ANY IO you want with a minimal time investment and no inf. If you want to speed that process up, you can convert regular merits and inf to make the process faster.
You don't need Purps or PvP IOs to make a character that can solo nearly any content in the game at the hardest difficulties.
Between tickets, merits, alignment merits, difficulty slider, the market, and other in game methods, you can acquire anything you want with fairly little effort in the fashion that you want.
I just don't see it.
Good... luck?
Honestly, I hate the market and everything about the market, including crafting. I am not sure how you would be able to police or fix this issue however. I am sure it is not ONE person cornering the market or at least it is not ONE global anway.
I guess honestly, if people want to play City of OMGLOOKHOWMUCH INF I HAVE, let them. While I do have charcters who have builds worth "billions" of inf I also play characters with just generic IOs and SOs for low pace teaming. Not everyone needs to have a purpled warshade to enjoy the game just a fun group of people to team with/chat with.
I'd much rather run a Hess then sit at the market rubbing my hands together maniacally.
Now maybe my view is jaded because I have a pretty sizeable inf/IO storage, (just lucky drops I guess) but are people really struggling to have fun on this game due to a few overpriced and honestly totally not worth it IOs?
You do realize that the steadfast protection +def is actually better than the PVP IO, but costs only 50m or less, don't you?
Thus it should be obvious that the price is due to supply, and that only those who want to stack both of them need to buy it?
A game is not supposed to be some kind of... place where people enjoy themselves!

Kill 'em all. Let XP sort 'em out.
So, I now know exactly how to approach the Devs to complain about who exactly is ruining play for their consumers, and exactly how they are doing it. Wish me luck.

So, it has become abundantly clear why some items cost 2 Billion per enhancer. It is a trick outlawed on Wall Street. It is called cornering the market. Take corn for instance. Buy up all the corn, or corn futures, that will arrive on Wall Street for the year. Then set your own price as to the selling price corn we be for that year. THis is especially easy to do in the game with items that are limited drops. (like PvP I/Os, purps, etc.)

Try it sometime, pick a unpopular type of yellow salvage and see how far you get and how long you can keep it cornered.
And yeah, IHBT, sorry.

In order for someone to hoard things and corner a market, they'd have to buy it at market rate or less and be able to sell it for more than that because they are creating an artificial shortage.
Ultra rares don't need someone to be soaking up the 'extra' supply. There is very little supply so the shortage of the product is real. This is why the price is high.
Lol.
That's all I have to say about this. I'll elaborate, if you ask nicely.

Looks like i found the genesis of the ultimate 2 billion inf cry thread while i was browsing the forums during server maintenance. And now there is two of them!
Wait this farm build needs me to farm to afford it? Paradox!!!
I crashed a cadillac through the gates of hell and returned with a fistfull of dollars.

You need to look for his Dm/Invuln thread, that's the crappy build he's trying to improve on
Sniff, I love you guys. Seriously though, I love the guy that is like "It's impossible to corner the market on something, wild conspiracy theories." I thought the wall of lol was really appropriate after that.
To the snarky post about my build. I already know it's flaws, and thanks. I play my toons my way, build them for my reasons, and if you are nice I will say why. You ain't nice. GL, and cyas in the cities.
P.S., today I will be composing my letter to the management and development staff of the game. Any input (even negative) is appreciated.

its still a terrible build, no matter how many pretty shinies you put in it
and that wasn't snarky it was the truth

I heart you.
Blue, as the others said, it's not that hard to make some inf in this game. Lot of people here in the forums posted a lot of usefull information to do that.
I never played the market before, but started the last week following the advice of Fulmens, Nethergoat and others. You don't have to sit in front of the market waiting for your bids. I just earned 500 milions in a week (from 210 to 710) just spending 5 minutes a day in the market before i log out. Do you really want that upper build? the guys in the market were nice enough to share his knowldege... can't really understand all that crossposting, the devs designed a way to improve our builds... ok isn't that easy to achieve, but you can still play with SO's as the others said.
Yawn.... this again? The whole reason I play this game instead of those other games is because I can actually make a maxed out toon in this game given my relatively short play session lifestyle. It's very easy to max out a toon in this game compared to every other game I've ever played. My I19 build for my DB/SR toon is easily a 10 Billion inf build (16 pvp IOs, and 25 purples). I hadn't done any marketeering in several months so I was basically at 100M inf or so in August. I started saving when I heard the news about inherent stamina, and I now have all my IO's bought and am waiting for I19 to come out. I visit the market for 10-15 minutes at the beginning and end of each play session and that's it.
I gotta make pain. I gotta make things right. I gotta stop what's comin'. 'Least I gotta try.

Actually, although I am sure this statement will be twisted, vilified, lampooned, and generally walked on, I care about gameplay. I fully have the ability to market, although it has been insinuated on the boards that basic addition escapes me. I think of myself, new to the game a few years ago, and what would make the experience more enjoyable for a new player. One simple solution to the entire problem would be market caps. Say, cap any listing price for Purps at 250 mil. Cap any for common salvage at 10,000 , etc. All of these valuations have already been placed by the designers. By enforcing a market cap on them they would allow the market to work, yet reduce the abuse to their system of the few preying on the many. I game mostly with adults when I play, having a couple channels where hard core gamers congregate stored on my toons. Great Task Forces, Hami Raids, a sweet ride. This took a long time to develop. i still remember street hunting in Port Oales with no idea what I was doing. I also remember finding out how twisted the market truly was. One of the reasons I play this particular game is the complexity of character design, from costume/animations/thru build out. For a small percentage of the gaming community to corner the market on rare (but not nigh impossible) to get items is silly. It does nothing to forward the goals of NCsoft in marketing the game to new players. This is my true belief, and the information that i will be sending to the development staff.
I made 2 Billion Inf and had a Glad Armor Proc drop in the time it took to read these threads.
Thanks for the entertainment while I corner your markets.
