To cape or not to cape, that is the question...
I don't let my travel power dictate fashion. I just go with whatever looks good from every piece of costume including auras.
I can spend hours at the tailor trying to get a look I like.
total kick to the gut
This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
The great thing about the Character Creator function is that you can make your toons wear whatever you want them to wear. There is absolutely no limit to what to wear based on your powers or even the name of the character. The only limit is your imagination and what's available in the game.
I am reminded of the movie, Mystery Men, where one of the characters, the Blue Raja (played by Hank Azaria), had a multi-colored outfit, but he did not have a single stitch of blue anywhere on his outfit.
So just because one has a cape does not mean it's a flyer and just because one doesn't does not mean it's grounded.

No capes!
But, honestly, it just depends on the style of the costume. sometimes it looks better with the right cape (there's also the "Scarf" cape style, or one of the tattered designs which is also scarf-like - goes good with the asymmetrical or full mantle - for when a full cape isn't ideal but the costume needs that little extra decoration...)
And I find they can work just as well thematically with SS or SJ... although at the runspeed cap, the cape physics can get a little... jerky?
EDIT; and sometimes I use capes just so I don't have to stare at my hero's spandex-clad *** all day.

A hero isn't a proper hero unless they're wearing a cape

My Huntsman uses Ninja Run with his cape flapping in the breeze the whole time.
It's just to look dramatic. Now wings on a character that couldn't fly, that I might find iffy.
I'd say around 80% of my characters are designed around having a cape and flight, rocket boots being an exception. No dangling cloth with flaming footwear.
And no, the few characters I have with SJ or SS do not have capes.
And nothing says megalomaniacal villain like a cape too.
Tales of Judgment. Also here, instead of that other place.
good luck D.B.B.
The main reason I havent used capes on toons is after 20 levels I'm kinda used to thier default look. Getting the vet capes at 1st (and to lesser degree the magic and Valkryie) meant I used them more. I suspect a freeze frame shuddering halt to atlas in the first few times after the new ones are released.
I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.
Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.
So sad to be ending ):
With multiple costume slots, you can go both with and without a cape.
I thought a cape looked silly when using the Sands of Mu attack, but I tend to have a caper on at least one costume.
The number 1 reason I don't put a cape on a character is whether I am using longer hair that clips badly. Yes, all my characters are female, so hair length is a consideration.
I also didn't put one on my one natural scrapper Jazzercise, because she just left the gym and nobody wears a cape at the gym.
Travel power doesn't really enter into the decision, since 95% of my characters Fly.

The main reason I don't have capes on any of my newer characters is because I *despise* the new cape mission. I find it completely and utterly lacking in entertainment value. I could go on, but that pretty much sums it up.
What's really ridiculous is that that is the exact same reason I don't have aura on most of my newer characters. No, I don't hate the aura mission. I hate the cape mission... which for some reason is still a prerequisite for doing the aura mission. Blah.
I also never let powerchoices decide whether the character has a cape or not. Wings/Craftable boots yes, but not a cape. Several of my toons use Super Speed and have a cape and it looks great, I prefer them to fly usually, but hasten's more useful than hover .
I saw this booster's announcement earlier and was excited, the one downside was gonna be wanting capes/auras from an origin other than my own, but then there's the fine-print, saying any origin can use any of the new items so that's awesome .
My question is whether they will have to be unlocked like the DVD edition cape, or ready from lvl1 like the valkyrie and GR aura's etc.

I do not let my costume/travel power dictate each other, but I do love how capes look on fliers.
And any time my oldest daughter sees me in CoH with a caped hero she says "No Capes!"

Fashion rules, not travel power. If a cape is part of my look, then a cape it shall wear.

Mmm...
As a rule, if I can't look good while adventuring, why bother adventuring at all...
In most cases, capes does not look good while in combat, nor when traveling, save when flying; they look rather dorky while hovering and oh my jump is just plain dumb.
Considering I have 5 slots, eventually, to have different costumes, I do reserve slot 4 for a cape version of my character.
My first slot is my Civilian look, after all many costumes are not unlocked at the begining.
My second slot, is my version of the swim suit edition, great to get guys to invite me into teams.
My third slot is my actual super costume, by now I have unlocked all the critical costume pieces, and I can design an exotic costume to wear while adventuring.
My fourth slot is my formal wear, an outfit I would wear to formal functions, I wish they would have true long dresses, but have to do with the pencil skirt. yet I always accent with a long cape to give my outfit an air of formality.
My fifth and last slot, is my SG uniform. (usually through the use of halloween salvage)
Maybe this can help you with your decision

Ps: Was wondering the cape mission, why is the museum is not at the courthouse, it is there during the TF

Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...
I feel like I go through phases.
Right no I'm really enjoying setting up a very basic tights+cape outfit on a few of my most frequently played characters.
I really like the magic cape on a few of my characters, especially my little skinny master mind.

Legionnaires, Golden Girl.
They're rather interested in that whole thing you said about proper heroes and capes...
...I'll leave you to your private conversation.

I base the cape/no cape solely on what looks good. Some characters look good with capes, some don't.
Hi guys,
What prompted me to ask this was the fact a new booster pack is coming out that will be adding MORE capes... I'm not really a cape person I hardly use them and the only reason I do the cape mission now, is because you are forced to in order to get the aura mission. Before that, I would just skip it... having said that, I have seen more than a few toons where cape look good on them, it's just not for me and how I build toons... I guess it depends on the look you are going for...
I was wondering, for the people that do put capes on their toons, does the travel powers you pick determine if a cape will go on? Example if you have a toon the does super jump would you add a cape? To me , a cape looks best on a fly type toons like Statesman... where as a toon like Synapse who does super speed, a cape would not fit... what's your take?
