So I don't know if I was just having bad RNG luck or if the Praetoria T&T event still needs tweaking. I sent in a bug report regardless.

How is Praetoria Trick or Treating going for everyone else?
I've been seeing the same thing in Grandville. 2 Lts, Lt and 2 minions, Boss and Lt, Solo Boss, and Boss and Minion. The three Minion and Minion plus Lt spawns were very few and far between. Really hoping this isn't WAI, because it puts quite a damper on solo ToTing for many (I was ToTing on a 50 Corruptor, and faceplanted several times before I learned to just run if I saw a Boss).

Honestly, that sounds like last year's event, in terms of the spawns. There was a fair bit of complaining about how hard the spawns were to handle, especially on low-level characters.

Did about 15 minutes of ToT in PI (noticed indoor arena doors no longer work for ToT when they did last year). Got 2 regular tips for defeatin trick spawns. Only one Halloween tip and it was a treat door. Treats seems to be working fine. Got 5 pieces of Halloween salvage and 5 costumes during that time. Like others have said, no reward table when completing mission. Loved teh creepy Halloween tunnel for the map though.

As an unrepentant Badge Wh--uh, Hunter, I have the following question:

If I get all of the new Halloween badges using my lvl 50 badge toon, who's currently a villain, do I then need to flip over to hero side and do it again, or are all the badges "double agents" (the same badge stays with you whether you're a hero or a villain)? I do notice one of the listed badges has two names, indicating to me that a hero would have that badge under one name, and the villain have it under the other name.

Having asked that, I'm off to Test!

Just jumped on the Test server after a long absence.

I noticed that I couldn't redeem the two slots I have (I tried and nothing happened). And when I deleted slots, they reverted to "Unavailable."

Any ideas what's going on?

And can I purchase slots on the test server with out being charged, like used to be?

Thanks, it's kinda hard to test Praetoria since all my toons are already elsewhere, and I'd prefer to not have to delete most of them since the copy tool is still down.

I gave subjective feedback. I never said anything about cancelling my subscription. However seeing that you are quite willing to make a donkey out of yourself, welcome to my ignore list.

Here is a thread about the Costume contact in Preatoria. Also her entry @paragonwiki...

Otherwise...
Slid onto Test for a little bit.
Got three regular tips while ToTing for about 20 minutes in Bricks w/a Lvl 35 Scrapper. Mission set all three Tips, did a little more ToTing and lo and behold I got the Halloween Tip as well.

Ran the mission. Overall it played out reasonably well. I found the CoT/Prea Underground appearance quite interesting. Disappointed the reward menu is broke ATM though.
Did notice something odd, though: Upon exiting out of the mission, I checked my Tip Contact window and noticed the Halloween Tip still showing. Clicked on 'Investigate' and managed to get the Halloween Tip mission again. Is this WAI?

Thank you for the time...

POSSIBLE BUG:When running the tip mission, futzing with the Praetorian devices does add time to the timer. But while I had 4:30 showing on my timer after clicking the last device, the Clockwork ambushes still spawned. It looks as though the additional time isn't being added to the actual spawn trigger ... assuming that futzing with the Praetorian devices is actually supposed to do anything.
The same thing happened to me. I believe I had around 4 minutes left when the clockwork started attacking me.

TECHNICAL ISSUE: when reaching the last subway tunnel room with Praetorian devices (it has the two long rows of torches), my framerate took a HUGE hit. The only other time I experience anything similar is down in the bowl of the Rikti mothership during a raid when I haven't turned down my graphics settings. My framerate returned to normal once I left that room. I'm running Windows 7, 3.6 gHz dual core CPU, 4 gigs RAM, and Radeon 5850 with most current drivers.
I also noticed a frame rate hit in that room and can provide hardware details if required.

Thank you all for your continued testing!
After some intensive tricking and treating, I have one rather easy question:

Is the tip mission currently pulled altogether? I received about 20 tips, but they were all regular tips. In a temp cstume or out of one, the tips remain regular.

Edit: NM, others did get it. Some serious bad luck on my part then
Will try again tomorrow.

I had that problem to. I had reemable credit, but it wouldn't apply. But when I 'bought' new slots, it automatically applied.

And yes, you can 'buy' on Test and not be charged. It's all free on Test.

The Halloween tip will come as a Treat, and is easy to spot: the icon for it will be a pumpkin.

The answer to your problem is:

During the time you've been gone from Test, they've mucked with the database a few times. This is the result. You'll have to delete characters until you have 11 or less. All unlocked slots will be relocked. Once you have 11 or less characters, you'll be able to redeem slots normally.

It sucks, but at least it's Test, and not Live.

EDIT: The character in question is a level 50 villain (not a rogue), ToTing in Grandville, so this isn't a problem relating to being in the opposing faction's area or being in Praetoria.

Are you teaming with mixed faction folks (Heroes with Vigs or Villains with Rogues)? Solo ToTing? Has your character switched sides and then come back? Or just switched and stayed there? The more details (especially ones about things that have changed in the game since last year's event) you can give, the sooner we find out why it's not working for you.

Feedback is important to our development process, there are two types of feedback and both are helpful although some give us more insight and are more easily adapted into game changes.
  • Objective Feedback: Objective feedback is based upon what you as a user see or experience that other users may also see and experience. This feedback usually can be replicated easily as it involves facts and unbiased opinions. Example: When using the base editor items are sometimes getting caught in columns or pillars.
  • Subjective Feedback: Subjective feedback is based upon how you feel or experience the game as yourself. This experience may not necessarily be replicated because it is based on feeling and emotion. Subjective feedback is important to us but it is usually helpful if more information is present to describe what and why you feel the way you do. Example: I like the way the graphics look on my shield animation it gives me the feeling of being truly super-powered.
The DEADLY APOCALYPSE.

It is neither Deadly ... nor an Apocalypse.
In this sense, the "Deadly Apocalypse" fails on both counts for truth in advertising.

First of all ... the "Deadly Apocalypse" is easily ignored by players, to a far higher degree than Rikti Invasions, or Zombie Invasions. This is because there are NO repercussions of any kind to avoiding (or ignoring) an ongoing Deadly Apocalypse within a zone. Personally speaking (see: Subjective Feedback) ... I would have expected something like:
  • If the Deadly Apocalypse is NOT stopped, then all players who are not sheltered Under Cover (see Invasion(s) definition of "cover") are automatically defeated (Dev's choice as to whether or not a Debt Penalty should even apply) and given a choice of Teleport to Hospital or Base.
But that's NOT what happens. If players ignore the event, and simply let the timer run out, then the event ends ... the sky clears ... and it's as if the event never happened. There's no "penalty" of any kind for ignoring the event completely. Players ignore the event, and the event ignores the players. Without player involvement, the event becomes a very big Non Event, and is essentially relegated into the class of "nuisance" rather than "fun" like the Invasions (Rikti, Zombie).

Furthermore, the level of cooperation REQUIRED to pull off the "Deadly Apocalypse" suppression borders on Raid Level degrees of communication and cooperation in order to beat the timer. This then places a high bar to hurdle, even before players can BEGIN to engage to defeat the Event. With player apathy towards the (non-)event tending towards being rather high, this leads to even less desire on the part of players to participate in the event to overcome the first hurdle ... "activating" the four banners so they can be defeated. And while I will admit that this feature of the event is (in fact) "brilliant" in its design ... I must also admit that only an actively motivated group of players within a zone will even bother to even try and "win" against the "Deadly Apocalypse" event. That pretty strongly limits the all-important inclusiveness of the event, and ultimately does not work in its favor.

RECOMMENDATION(s):

I would very much like to see the "Deadly Apocalypse" BECOME a Deadly Apocalypse which players will feel motivated to oppose and overcome! This could first and foremost be achieved by modifying the Reward for defeating the "Boss" of the Apocalypse. Instead of the reward being 2 Reward Merits for everyone who does damage to the Boss ... instead have a pool of 100 Reward Merits to be divided up amongst all players who deal damage to the Final Boss ...
  • 50 Players hit Final Boss = 2 Reward Merits each
  • 33 Players hit Final Boss = 3 Reward Merits each
  • 25 Players hit Final Boss = 4 Reward Merits each
  • 20 Players hit Final Boss = 5 Reward Merits each
  • ... and so on ...
This means that if only a smaller group of players are interested in engaging the Event, thus making it "harder" for them to complete ... then they earn a greater reward than if the whole zone pitches in and makes the event a cakewalk. This then provides a measure of reward motivation which might not otherwise be there when an entire zone of people are otherwise occupied and/or apathetic to the Event itself and decline to participate. By inverse scaling the reward this way, you promote the notion among a subset of players that "doing" the Event will almost always be worthwhile ... which leads to a mindset of "join if you can" to participating in it, which will in turn expand the appeal of the Event to players even if they've done it before and have all the Badges.

Second of all ... there needs to be a ... PENALTY ... put in place for "ignoring" the Deadly Apocalypse. As I mentioned above ... if the timer runs out, and the Final Boss is not defeated ... simply auto-Defeat every Player (and NPC Mob) in the Zone who is not "under Cover" ... and then let the Zone restock itself naturally over the next few minutes as the Players (and NPCs Mobs) recover from the DEADLY APOCALYPSE that was NOT averted! Debt Penalty for being auto-Defeated in this fashion is Dev's choice ... but understand that if there is NO Debt Penalty at all, then that "encourages" people to IGNORE the Event completely and just go about their business as usual.

It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...

You shouldn't have to delete, unless there is something new that I didn't get hit with.

WHen you try to redeem your slots, are they used up, but don't open up any new character slots? If so, you just need to keep redeeming until you account for all used slots over 12.

This is a brand new bug!

Just buying new slots automatically repairs things without redeeming them.
