Anyone got a link to the contrary? Otherwise humble pie is on order. It's not that bad if you eat it quick.

No problems and dont worry about it.
I was pretty sure thay listed 5 costumes sets with GR.
I18 patch notes had nothing about free costumes.

You are such an intransigent person. For some, english is not our first language.
Nah, no point in trying to discuss.
Devs dont listen to some players, and some other players support it! Results: players hating players with no point and suggestions lost in the way.

i was not posting against your request for more free costume pieces. i support you on that. i was simply pointing out that you'd be better off posting in the relevant area of the forums. Like City Life - CoH & CoV General Discussions.

You know, posting where red names reply to threads at least several times a week instead of posting a rant in a forum for asking questions that other players can answer and where the most recent red name post was probably about a year and a half ago. i mean, seriously, why not post your concerns that are aimed at the Devs in a forum where they tend to reply? Hell, how about in the official announcement discussion thread where there's been over a half dozen red name replies in the past 24 hours? Why post it here, of all places?

That's all i'm saying. Post it where those it's addressed to may actually reply. If you really want to vent in a less than useful venue you could go to a site that has nothing to do with games and post it in their forums instead of this half measure of misplaced posting. Again, i agree with your desire for more free costume pieces, but i think you should post it somewhere more useful and pertinent.

Do. You. Understand. What. i'm. Saying?

You are right. Maybe this was not the best place to post, but I wanted to know the playerbase opinion.
Now I understand why we are not getting free costumes.
Not gonna ask again for it.

We don't get free costumes because it's an easy way to make money. I'm going to regard the GR costumes as free, and the complete edition ones as "paid for" because, by all rights, GR would be bought for the other content. Morality and whatnot.

By making costumes that cost money, they are able to spend more time on them and make them look better. I view that as more than acceptable. I wont' pay for costumes I don't want.

We're all for free stuff, especially costumes. But the use of the highlighted text towards anyone who disagrees with you, tends to negate any further discussion. Many posters will just stop reading after that or bring on the flame throwers.

Usually both.

Dismissing everyone who doesn't agree with you out of hand and/or lumping them under a single vaguely contemptuous label, especially before anyone even replies, i generally consider a strong indicator that the poster doing so has little of real interest to say. So far it's been pretty damn reliable.

There was a long discussion about revamping some of the old costume pieces and faces. It's possible we may see some of these in the near future.

Doing the above will usually get one a similarly contemptuous label, troll.

OP, I think you will find that virtually no one objects to getting free anything ... however in general there is usually a fairly strong reaction when someone posts an inaccurate personal opinion and tries to pass it off as fact.

OK, while I'm not as concerned as the OP, I feel you are wrong here. His 'personal opinion' is that we haven't had any free costumes since I15's ulterior and vines. Apart from the animated tails which he acknowledged.

Sport and Overguard, as best as I can find on the wiki and the GR site are both part of GR, not part of I18. So what inaccuracies has the OP passed off as fact? So far no one has been able to prove otherwise, despite saying they have.

What I said in my post thats not a fact?
I said we not getting free costume sets in free Issues since I15, with the few exceptions I listed in my post.
If you are happy with the situation, good thing for you.
Im dissapointed with the fact we only have new costumes as a paid option since 1 year and half.
And I meant costumes, not animated tails or unfinished leaked auras.
Inaccurate personal opinion? Come on, can you show me those tons of free costumes u got with I16, I17 and I18?
Is that hard to say the devs are going in a wrong direction in this matter since the first booster is out? Are you afraid of them or what

Well I consider anything that can be done with the costume creator as a part of costumes that includes tails, leaked auras, and all the new combat auras.

So I guess we have a difference of opinion, which is what your OP is.

Costumes

  • Combat Mode Auras: Players now have the ability to set all Auras to “Combat Mode”. Combat Mode Only versions of all auras have been added to the Tailor and Facemaker. These auras will only turn on when your character engages in combat. They are selectable from Aura -> Effect menu. (Note: The option for persistent Auras (always on) is still available.)
  • There are no new costume sets for Issue 18 (there are 7 costume sets that unlocked with Going Rogue).
During Beta/Test GR was active on all accounts, so, there was no way to know which costumes were I18 and which were GR. We were guessing Sport and Overguard were I18 since they had nothing to do with Praetoria. That guess was wrong. I asked people online who didn't have GR yet (like Snow Globe, whose order was lost in GameStop hell (a redundancy, I know)) and they did not have access to Sport or Overguard. They were part of the expansion, not the free issue.

That being said, people who limit their ideas of 'costume' to clothing and armor bits will be constantly disappointed. Character customization includes auras, weapon customization, and power FX customization, and now, power animation customization.

When it was just clothing, the art department could spit out more of that since that's all they were working on. But now that they're working on so many different types of character customization, they can't churn out costume set after costume set like they used to.

I13 - December 2, 2008 - New costume pieces added with the introduction of the Shields power set.
I14 - Wednesday, April 8, 2009 - New costume pieces added.
I15 - June 29, 2009 - New Costume pieces added
I16 - August 5, 2009 - No new costume pieces
I17 - March 2, 2010 - New costume pieces added. Animated tails, New pistols for Thugs MM's
I18 - August 16, 2010 - No new costume pieces

Furthermore due to a glitch on the costume creator players had the chance to preview new auras that were not intended to be released yet.

So it's clear to anyone that actually looks at the 18 issues that there were only 7 times we didn't get new choices added costume creator for free. So his statement that we haven't gotten new costume pieces in a year and a half is a blatant exaggeration. The only time we had to wait over a year for more "free" costume pieces to be added was back in 2005 - 2006 between issues 4 and 7.

At the risk of putting words in people's mouths...

There might be some nitpicking going on from both sides, but the OP sounds to me that he's talking about costume sets like those found in the boosters and that he's trying to make a point that since packs showed up, most of the sets have shown up in packs.

For him to acknowledge that we did get some pieces seems to suggest he was talking about full costume sets.

So from that perspective, his position that new costume sets are in packs instead of issues seems more in the ballpark as opposed to exaggeration.

And your list from the quarter that i15 was released (which was around the time the 2nd booster and up showed) that spans a year, seems to corroborate that.

I'm sure any addition to the costume editor whether in pieces or full is welcome but that's not the point the OP is trying to make. At least that's how i read it.

No it doesn't. The time frame between I15 and I17 was only 9 months. That's only 1 month longer than the the time we had to wait for new costumes between I2 and I4. The OP stated we hadn't received anything for almost year and a half. That's 18 months

9 months is nowhere close to being a year and a half. What he claimed is double the length of time we actually waited.

And the point the OP made seems to be that he has entitlement issues. He seems to think he is entitled to things that were never promised to anyone and when people pointed out his exaggerations he resorted to name calling and insults.

I don't know if this applies to everyone or not, but my alt account, being re-activated for the weekend, has access to the full range of GR costume pieces. Alt account does not have GR code applied to it, so it should not normally have these.

So... possible limited time GR costumes, get 'em while they last!

I think i mentioned costume "sets" not piece and i17 did have pieces but not a full set, which i think was the OP's point.

/edit: A set as in something similar to what you find in the boosters. If i understood the OP correctly.
