Ouroboros Alpha Specualtion
The Coming Storm has always been referenced as an in-universe alien threat...
the Shiva metorite that hit Bloody Bay is supposed to be a forerunner of the Coming Storm
we also know that the aliens of the Coming Storm use the Kheldians as an energy source and will eventually drive them to extinction if things are not changed
the Coming Storm does not seem to have anything to do with Praetoria....and also seems to be set about to destroy the world, Hamidon included
also, not sure Romulus is an incarnate...know that Imperius is, but not sure about the baddy....

I know it ain't so, but that image of the Ouroborous being attacked by ginormous tentacles makes me think of Yog-Sothoth, the Outer God who embodies all space and time. Who better to threaten beings from various times and dimensions?

While we all enjoy arguing about who's the most evil, the fact is, Cole is just a man with his empire and like all empires it will eventually fall. Even if he attacks Primal Earth and kills all the supers, he'll eventually just be another footnote in history along with every other crackpot dictator, people will continue to live and die and new heroes will eventually be born again.
The Coming Storm seems to be something much, much worse that could potentially mean the end of earth in it's entirety.
This 'Invulnerability Aura' that y'all are on about looks a bit more like the Reflection aura thing the Rularuu folks be havin'.
By Invulnerability aura...I mean that it is the 'standard' effect one of the powers in invulnerability gives off when turned on, can't remember which it is since I haven't seen the original invulnerability option used since Power Customisation came in but it is one of the toggles.
Edit: It's Unyeilding which gives that glow, check it outs for yaselves if ya danne believe me.
Am I the only one who saw the picture of Ouroboros and said to themselves;
Oh no, not Ouroboros! D:
Now no-one will have their personal teleporter device and ability to do flashbacks, gasp!* It's the end of the game, we all DOOOOOMed!
*I do not currently believe we've lost Ouroboros completely, it would likely be a special instance and not a zone replacement.

Nah, I maintain its the Reflections aura, especially seeing how Rommy seems to have it too, it's hard to see due to his purpleness but it is there. It also doesn't have the lines revolving around them for it to be Unyielding.
Anyhow, if they are Reflections: does this mean Uuralur is involved? In which case, about time. I thought he'd of made an appearance shortly after the whole Doppleganger thingymajig.
Apparently this is part of the incarnate arc. That is what Positron told me, last night. When he redeemed the hour of playtime with a Dev I had won in the raffle at the PAX Prime meet and greet.
I didn't dig further because I didn't want to ruin his enjoyment playing the game.

It's the most interesting Incarnates in-game.
The Titan represents Hamidon, and you have the Coles. I'm curious as to if that hunched figure is Richter. They're all wrapped in the white aura, so they're probably not physically there but some manner of apparition.

Stepping back from speculating about what these screenshots portend for the game's canon, I have to wonder if the devs are truly prepared to scrap or at least reboot the Ouroboros setting and deal with all the in-game mechanics that would have to be adjusted accordingly, along with inevitable bugs.
My inner 8-Ball says "Very doubtful", so my hypothesis is that we're seeing screenshots from an alternate instance of Ouroboros, perhaps the launching pad for the Incarnate system in the same way the old Ouroboros is the gateway to Flashbacks. (On preview, what The_Volt said.)
Also, what's with PYRAMIDS in the distant horizon in the second screenshot???
I wonder why anybody assumed that was a permanent change when we are talking about a time traveling home base as well as the meta-fact that we already have 3 to 5 versions of a destroyed Atlas Park as it is, and yet the original Atlas is still available to reach

Just out of curiosity has it ever been established that there is only one Ouroboros? Could the pictures perhaps be of the Praetorian version of Ouroboros?
I only ask because all the Ouroboros missions deal with Time Travel within Primal Earths reality rather then moving between the different realities. Its the letter writer that talks about different realities, such as meeting the Praetoria version of Requeim or Mender Silos of Faathims reality or even your shadow self.
Which leads me to wonder if there could be different versions of Ouroboros throughout the different realities?

Gross speculation:
Maybe the devs are tying all of the transports (trams and ferries) because with Oro under attack we won't have our favorite little shortcuts anymore.

A couple of things here I've had thoughts about:
Could this version of Ouroboros be a phased instance? That is, as part of its story that Incarnates (those heroes being gifted with the Incarnate ability) that Ouroboros ceases to be a viable contact? I thought of Cleopatra from Praetoria as a good example here, and a great way to reflect the changes in the world. It'd be good to visually show things having changed on the 'upper planes' where the big kids play.
Interesting that Recluse isn't there at all. He drank from the Well of the Furies also...is his status (and by extension that of the Isles) going to be called into question? Even if he isn't everyone's favorite NPC, his backstory kind of entitles him to be there, I would think.
Finally, I'd like to think this was the Coming Storm. If you go to the pictures again, you'll see there are Praetorian Clockwork in not only King's Row, but inside the Vanguard base. It strikes me that these are key strategic areas in Paragon City (we've yet to see any suggestions if this affects the Rogue Isles as well) and definite game-changers. If Vanguard and the War Zone are lost, then the mothership is up for grabs. I can't see the Rikti not being involved at some point as allies.

ok so what is oroboros and where do I get one?
Ouroboros (with a u ) is a small zone that contains a couple of TFs/story arcs. but more importantly it lets you play any story arcs that you missed.
Missed a level 35 contact and you can't get their missions? Ouroboros. It also lets you replay any arc you want again. Wanna play those awesome Rikti War Zone arcs again? Ouroboros.
Now, how do you get it? Do a story arc or get a badge related to time travel and you'll be "entrusted with the secret" and get a power called the Ouroboros Portal that lets you port directly to the zone.

Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.
It seems presumable already that the Ouroboros zone itself won't be touched. From a gameplay standpoint, have they ever really taken resources or zones unnecessarily?
But it's still pretty scary from a gameplay standpoint; "what could do this?"
And as for the Coming Storm, it sounds like if this is it, then the dev team probably took a large swing away from their original ideas on it. I still don't buy it, though. It's like getting a letter saying "you will trip one day." Chances are, you will trip, but that doesn't mean the letter-writer made me trip only because he said it.
I'm just not seeing Cole as Letter-Writer. Yes, the "stand by my side or get destroyed" fits, but I don't see him going "I bet you're wondering who I am, well, wonder more." He'd write his full name and all his self-granted titles in 22-karat gold.
