Family Guy's Season Premiere: "And Then There Were Fewer" is quite good

I stopped watching Family Guy when the political rhetoric was cranked up to 11. Because of the unabashedly, even offensively liberal attacks, I've never been interested in picking up the show again... until now.

How's the political [censored]-flinging in this episode? Toned down enough for the sake of a smart, witty plot like the first few seasons?

This. Dear God 1000 times this.

I missed the episode, but I'm a long time admirer of the show. I'll definitely check it out.

There's actually zero political flinging in this episode.

I really liked it, its actually what Brian and Stewie should have been, a good plot with decent jokes thrown in.

Lets hope the rest of the season is just as good.

50Soulsunder: DM/Regen Scrapper
50Limitshift: EM/WP Brute
Victoria Nox: Dark/Dark Dominator
And about 5 others that change constantly...

No politics whatsoever. You're safe. Go, run free and lul. LUL AS YOU ONCE DID!

Judging from this thread, I suppose I'm the only person that still gets a kick out of the crap they give Meg.

I do. I just really hate its origin. I like it, but I wish they'd give Mila Kunis more lines.

Same here.

Didn't see the episode. The show has gotten a lot less funny to me, but reading the posts in here, I might have to check it out.

Read the OP and report back, please.
This logic applies to other threads, too.

Sorry Pal, but L-O-L. They bash both sides equally. If you can't see that...

Definetly. It's a great watch, and there's some suprising revelations. Plus, Consuela.

Oh my gosh, she really has no idea what it means!

I can't make a case for anything recent, since I did stop watching it. But it got to the point where it was like a progressive "WhiteManSays" tweet, or Sean Hannity's comic book. They made fun of both sides, it's true, but when the vitriol started to fly you could guess which side of the arguement was going to wind up a strawman. There wasn't anything near a balance in the humor, let alone the attacks.

To cut off where this might wind up going, I'm not asking for the show to change course or a show based around a liberal (or conservative) point of view to not exist. It is what it is, and for those that enjoy it, good for you. It's cool. It's just not my thing in a show. That's why I'm glad to hear Seth transcended his own machine, if only for an episode.

Hopefully this means they're going to drop their tired, unfunny political rhetoric that's ruined the last few seasons..

Seems like they ported it over to the Cleavland Show, he spent a good 1/4 of the episode seething over President Obama.

Devs would post more if they could say "hi!" without people whining because they wanted them to say "hello".

... with complaints that made no sense. The character's entire rant list was incoherent and he absolutely shut down any debate or legitimate discussion. That was the running joke: That it wasn't political. It was personal.

Yeah...just mentioning a political figure doesn't make it a political diatribe.

And that's what made it funny.

latest episode was terrible

Yep.

All the goodness of the first episode was totally negated by the unending political commentary of the second.

At least American Dad was funny as everything.

I thought the message of last night's episode was, "It doesn't matter what side of the fence you are on, we can still get along and maybe, just maybe be friends."

Interesting episode. Not as many "Like that one time..." cut aways, which I liked.

It didn't so much, in my interpretation, have a political point as much as it was just generically teasing the right. While you could glean its having a point from other episodes, on its own it's just having fun. That was really Rush Limbaugh, guest starring to laugh at himself. I appreciated his appearance and felt he knocked it out of the park.

Decent episode.

Yeah, I loved the fact that Rush was willing to voice himself. Also, I really don't think this was so much a political message episode as another shot at Brian, such as how easily Brian converts and how far he goes.

Also, Cleaveland Show was awesome with it's "Cleaveland Show Live" parody, and American Dad won massive points for referencing the "Superman reverses the rotation of the earth and turns back time" jazz.
