Speculation on I20

Okay, supposedly, I20 is so super-secret you have to have a hand signed NDA to get into the beta.

That said, some interesting ideas that I've heard are due to mechanical/programming issues...or else other long asked things...or just things I think I'd like to see:

Mastermind pet customization (including female pets) - I'm hearing that this is a technical issue not the popular "no pimps" rumor

Animated hair - which would be AWESOME

Multiple Arms - a la Hindu/Kali...Spinnerette...etc...either as just a costume piece or as a power set...this would be a LOT of work, and the costume piece would probably be better since that lets us do multi-armed sorcerers and the like...the reason it would be a lot of work...new animations...this would almost have to be a fourth build

New builds - female huge, beastial

New enemy models - dinosaurs, guard dogs, birds and SHARKS

Zones - Moon Base or Underwater adventures

but I hear I20 is supposed to involve revolutionary systems....so probably something else

The I20 hype is a mistake. It was reported that it was for "new systems" which led to hyerventilated guesses.

The video of the panel clearly shows that I20 Beta is for testing the "new end game systems."

That is all.

The Alpha Slot was already tested in I18 Closed Beta and that is slated to come out in I19. All the other slots have different mechanics and are attached to end game... activities which will probably contain new, neat raid mechanics (my guess).

A few more Slots for powers. As i19 is putting fitness as inherent, giving at two to three more power picks. Builds are going to be even tighter, so we are going to need the extra slots for the new picks.

With that in mind, the idea I have is at a 'slots' level the following will become the new way

1 - 30, still 2 slots at level up
30 - 40, still 3 slots at level up
40 to 50, 4 slots at level up.
Giving another seven slots to place into the new power picks.
For the existing characters a freespec would be needed as you would be given the slots, when you actually respecced your character into the i20 build.

This would be nice to see but I don't think it will actually happen (would love to be wrong here).

OK, next poster, your turn.

I agree with ZMan. I have hope there are some other neat things coming in I20 but the major changes are its the first real dip into end game and they need to make sure they have made it all work correctly and with it being only for 50 who then become incarnates it will take time to test how quick can the content be done and how grindy it is.

I'm guessing we will get more in I20 than end game content, but I'm guessing the end game content and systems are what require the big hulabaloo. I'm not expecting anything else revolutionary out of it.

End game content will be the main focus of the issue.

A new powerset which will be teased at in about 2/3 months will be shown. Possibly the staff set.

New tip missions.

The next letter in the coming storm saga which teases that it is closer than ever and for us to prepare for it [expect the higher incarnate system to be tied in to it]

A reworked taskforce.

Would make sense for melee ATs for it to be next, what with kinetic melee being mostly a single target set you could easily make a set like staffs a multi target one

Even thinking of a shield charge type mini tp power for it. Stick staff into ground and u go flying forward if that makes sense.

They've just given us 4 new power sets, albeit as part of a paid expansion. We know that the powers team were tweaking 2 of those up until launch, while 2 had been completed months before.

Its a safe bet that i19 will definately not have new powers, and my money would be on i20 also not having new powers. i21 maybe, but considering the demand we place on them, and the standard they set themselves with Demon Summoning whip animations, i20 is, imo too soon.

Combo of the two. It's not a technical issue, but a storage issue--right now, mastermind pets pull 1-5 or so 'different' possible mobs from a database. Custom mastermind pets would pull 1-5,000,000 or so and that's a lot of database space to worry about.

Unlikely, due to modeling issue--sharks are in game already, though. Back when CoV was launched, they intended to have sharks in the water but canned them because they'd be free-exp to flyers. I'd love to see them added back in and simply give no XP on defeat.

Really--there's no point in speculating about what I20 might or might not be--if they're launching an early beta for it, it doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be big, just that whatever they do is probably (bolded for emphasis) highly subject to changing--such as testing the Incarnate system to make sure it's performing properly past the alpha slot, and that the end-game content that takes advantage of it is challenging enough to be fun.

I hope it's significant additions to the end game aspect. Incarnate stuff and entirely different systems. Way overdue. I just hope it's actual stuff to do and not just game mechanics/systems; that would suck.

I think we had a long while of systems, QoL and other 'fluff'. Sure they make the game better but I want stuff to do. Original, unique stuff. The end game needs to be completely different than anything we do en route to level 50

Simple answer: Sharks with laser beams

Nah, lasers are still better

More Incarnate stuff... I hope power pool customization also.

I agree with Zombie Man on this one. I think the hype above and beyond Incarnate related stuff will only lead to severe disappointment.

What I expect:
- the first five or so Incarnate slots
- some zone events with slightly more refined mechanics than the Deadly Apocalypse related to incarnate slots, several if not all of these situated in Praetoria

AT BEST, a new +50 coop zone or something (likely a mini zone--think Cimemora). All centered around Incarnate stuff. And all requiring GR to participate.

Then some cruise control QoL and minor graphic revamp for vanilla CoX. MAYBE a few new costume items. And MAYBE the first fruits of the alternate power animation work that's begun in the background.

But other than a bulk of Incarnate related content, which has already been previewed both by early GoRo CB testers as well as accidentally leaked as an incomplete menu on the main training room one day then quickly patched out, I don't expect much else from i20.

Systems heavy issues have always been weak on content and shinies.

I'm thinking it may be content for Praetoria for levels 20-50. There may be some new "systems" for missions to vary the gameplay.

I think we'll be getting the ability to run up walls with super speed. It is the most requested feature I can think of.

I also think we'll finally get the ability to do powerset respecs. I mean, there is no real reason why we can't now, so something that huge would need to be kept a secret.

And finally I think the devs are gonna merge servers. We only have two, sometimes three, active servers. The rest are dead and need to be merged. Now is as good a time as there has ever been. Playing on dead servers makes people quit. Nobody likes slow servers.

I'm betting they skip 20-30 Praetoria. They've set up the praetorian story to include some sort of travel to Primal Earth. Levels 40-50 will show a return to a changing Praetoria... with upper-level content and Incarnate stuff situated there.

The servers are dead? News to me. And the other stuff is too much for the current game engine, so unless there is a total engine overhaul, don't count on it!

Agreed.

I20's very early closed beta is probably more due to the difficulty in testing the feel of something that is a) supposed to take a good deal of player time and b) requires a certain critical mass of players OR fewer players, but more duration

Not to mention make your characters feel significantly more powerful but don't make existing level 50 content into free for all farmlands. Methinks there will be many necessary nerfs in the balancing process of CB leading to potentially lots of teeth gnashing. Considering how much teeth gnashing took place on the forums pre-GR release based on a couple leaked power changes, I suspect the devs simply want a mechanism to expel anyone from CB should they leak. Or if necessary even suspend accounts for leaks.

EDIT to clarify the prediction of nerfs: These nerfs will be only on aspects of the incarnate system that in the first roll out are significantly more powerful than predicted in specific combinations of builds, powersets and ATs. I know the devs prefer to roll things out underpowered for players and overpowered for mobs and then ratchet down mobs and players up towards a balancing point. But I don't see how they can hit the mark from that direction 100% with the little we've already been clued in about the Incarnate slots and the diversity of effects these things will have on 50++ characters.
