Fitness is dead; long live Fitness.

Fitness becomes inherent.

A change that a lot of us have been asking for since.. well.. since the game was launched. =p

Wait... what's going to happen to the powers we slotted? A couple of my toons have one more more uniques and/or procs stuck in Health and Stamina and I seriously doubt I'm the only one. Three new pick would be cool, but it'd actually hurt the effectiveness of some toons if they can't slot those IOs anymore. I'm pretty sure my BS/SR would lose his effectively infinite endurance.

Awesome. This will be invaluable during the 13-22 levels in which I end up not getting any primary/secondary powers.

But on the other hand, I now need to find 3 more powers for my MM's to put in (On the ones who took Stamina)

You can slot inherent powers like Brawl and Sprint, so I don't think this is an issue.

Also, prepare to freespec!

plenty of inherents are slottable, I can't imagine Fitness won't be.

True, I forgot about that since I never slot them. If we can slot them and they don't just raise base regen/recov, my aforementioned Scrapper is going to get three new powers with no slots to put them in. Though, that's more of a personal build-issue than one with the change. I wonder how good base-slot Hasten is...

Right. And Rest.

Basically I expect this will free up powers but not slots, assuming you have Fitness now and add slots to it.

If that's the case, I'm really looking forward to this.

If they aren't planning to let people slot it, I expect a <bleep>-storm of epic proportions, which is the primary reason I am not expecting such a thing.

I am curious what it means with regard to Swift and Hurdle. Do we get both? I normally only ever take one, so I would get one for free if we get both.

Overall I am curious and nervous at the same time.

I've always found it useful and often don't put extra slots in it. It just becomes a use-on-big-fights power instead of a click-when-it's-up power.

Hallelujah. It's about time.

Now my Inv/SS tanker can pick up Hurl and Hand Clap. My BS/SR scrapper can grab Hasten. My Dark/Dark brute can take Taunt and Soul Transfer.

This is just pure joy.

As long as we can slot these new inherents, I'll be extremely happy with this change. I wager that the stealth pool will suddenly become much more popular since it's 3 slots for LoTG +recharge with 1 slot apiece.

Posted

If I had to choose between inherent but unslottable, and needing to give up three power choices, I'd probably be happier with unslottable. That said, slottable would be even better.

Hmm, interesting.

I see a problem though. If they allow us to slot the three inherent powers that are mentioned, It will make slotting even tighter on other powers. Most of my builds do not have any free slots right now. Adding three enhanceable powers will make it a little more difficult IMO.

I concur, but consider that a happy problem.

I have plenty of "one slot wonder" powers I could take. Or I might prioritize my slotting a little bit differently. Every build I spend any time on is really tight in terms of where I place slots, but this may open up new priorities.

Edit: Here's something to bear in mind. The devs may very much understand that this won't be a huge change for people who already take and slot Health and Stamina. It will, however, be a huge change for people who currently don't take Fitness. For those people this is pure, free win. And that might be what the devs are shooting for here.

(It's also not clear to me that this stuff will open at level 1, but if it does, that's also big free win none of us have today.)

I suspect Swift and Hurdle become one power. Call it "Athleticism" or something.

Edit: Slotting doesn't have to be a problem, if this frees up three power choices, you can take three powers that don't require any slots.

Assault, Stimulant, TP Friend or Foe, Stealth, Grant Invis, Combat Jumping are all good with the base slot.

A team of 8 players all with Assault, Manoeuvres, and Tactics with just the base slot would be pretty nicely buffed.

Comedy Option D: Everyone can now take Jump Kick, Flurry and Provoke.

Not a bad name, I prefer "Swurdle" though. Aaaand now that's stuck in my head, oops.

Since these powers are now INHERENT, how will this affect Epics? SPECIFICALLY Peacebringers and Warshades?

Right now, you don't really get any benefit from Fitness when using forms.

However, once the set becomes inherent?

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

Doing that creates a slot count issue.

Today, you could have both powers and have enhanced each with the base slot. If you merge them into one power, you gain two power picks but have to spend an additional slot on the combined power to maintain your previous movement bonuses.

"Inherentness" doesn't really have anything to do with how they have to interact with the forms.

However, it would certainly be nice if they were not flagged such that they stop working in forms. Note, though, that the forms have +recovery of their own, so having both could conceivably be considered unbalanced in some way. (I'm not saying I think that, just that someone dev-side might.)

Er.. they'll probably keep working the same way as now. "Inherent" just means "you don't have to spend a power pick, you get the power for free". Sprint and Ninja Run are inherent powers, remember. So you'll get a bonus when you're in human form, and when you're not, you don't.
