help for color in "find member"
I'm not undestod the new colors in "find member" window.
What means the name in purple, yellow, orange, gray, white? regards |
It's automatic as well which wasn't the brightest idea in the world. All it will do is encourage Star-a-phobia methinks. Any suggestion I'd seen (or made) for it was to make it optional for the Team Leader to switch on/off.
Team Search Improvements * This color scheme came about along with other behind-the-scenes work to make searching more useful in Going Rogue. It used to be that heroes could see heroes and villains could see villains and that was that. With Vigilantes going to Rogue Isles and so on, we needed a more sophisticated approach. Now the people you see are people you could team with, and who are in the same part of the game world as you (eg. people in the Rogue Isles can't see people in Paragon City and vice versa, regardless of their alignment). * The new color scheme works like this:

Patch notes with all relevant info on this and more. (Info that I will forget.)
I love the majority of the quality of life improvements. However, this is one is not an improvement in any sense of the word.

Then the usual plea for "looking for more" flag was made to no avail.
However, there were leak throughs of a project that might come to fruition in a future issue: A team server that automatically connects those looking for team with those looking for members. It was never functional and eventually disappeared from view.

So you think you're a hero, huh.
@Boltcutter in game.
Purple means "I'm a team leader with a non-full team. Pester me for a place please"

I'd agree, this needs to be an optional flag.
On the whole subject of color codes though, why don't they have a *key* to what the colors mean on the search window? I didn't have a clue what the color coding meant beyond the old green/blue/gray colors.

A drop down legend would be fine, but why oh why didn't they just give us a filter for these color based catagorization. I mean, I'd love to be able to remove from my filter all the people whom I don't even need to consider for invites.
I usually hide from searches when I'm leading a team. I have to wonder if the "Send message to team leader" option in the right-click menu will bypass that

The additional colours are completely unnecessary. Far too complex; I doubt anyone remembers what each one means without a crib sheet. Plus similar to the red/green doors in Praet, totally unhelpful to anyone colour blind. (Yes I know people in game who are colour blind.)

I made a suggestion regarding this a while ago (short version: provide a legend/filter for the colours in the search window please)... Might be something to bug your friendly neighborhood Dev about. Don't be obnoxious about it, but, y'know; might be a good idea to hammer it in by sending the devs a chocolate box with the legend removed.
EDIT: personally, the only colour I ever remember the meaning of is purple (Team leader), the rest are gibberish if I don't have a legend open.
"My inner mind has become a reality-cracking overgod. He torments me! Help!"
The cheat sheet legend that is posted here at the forums doesn't match what I see for colors in game and it changes even between 2 different computers. The purple, blue, gray all look like the same washed out color to me.
On top of it all, they're just not that useful.
I tend play a lot of support characters, and my preference is roll as a duo with someone who's already in a mission, but not on a team. I send a message, offering my services for a few missions, and hopefully join them in their mission already in progress. In this way, I know that they're already capable of running missions by themselves, and I'll be able to use my skills to assist them.
My all accounts, the people I should be looking for are Yellow. Grey people are on teams already, and blue people aren't already in a mission. Yellow people can't be invited to a team, but they can invite others to a team.
Problem is, yellow is ALSO the color of people on a Task Force --- shouldn't that be a whole other color?
Someone ought to update Paragonwiki.

I'm sorry but I don't understand the Orange. Could someone help?

Negaduck: I see you found the crumb. I knew you'd never notice the huge flag.
I still think level 50s need their own search tab in the level menu instead of 41 to 50.
Liberty Server
Active Character: Canadian Firestorm
Fire/Rad Controller Level 50
But what puzzles me is that this information (orange) is useless: why would I want to know about an opposite faction character that cannot team up in the zone where I am, where the mission is? This other character has the GR expansion but hasn't crossed to my side?
|
* you are a hero
* they are a villain
* they are in a redzone but COULD be a rogue therefore CAN team with you but they need to goto a bluezone before invite
* or vice versa
I doubt it is flagging whether or not they have GR or have got to the vigilante/rogue stage.
However, as I said above the colour scheme is far too complex. I use globals/channels for teams and if I have to use the search function I'll go for people with LFT flag open.

I actually like the use of colors for this. I just don't think it's implimented very well.
The colors aren't intuitive at all to me. I keep forgetting which color means what, and I usually have a feeling for this kind of thing (eg: the much hated SO names and colors don't phase me at all). Add to that that I can't find the meaning of the colors anywhere in game. (Am I overlooking something obvious?).

I liked the colors very much - but it's lame having to google them. There should be an explanation in-game.
And me too: always had trouble finding out which SO is which (a quick and simple mouse-over explanation would be nice).
We used to have a mouse over info box for enhancements.
That broke years ago and seems to be unfixable though.
