THOR movie trailer

I assume we'll be spending a good portion of the film with "mortal Thor" trying to prove himself worthy of wielding Mjolnir and then having his major super-powered fight at the end. I find myself worrying that we're not going to see Thor as Marvel's Superman, instead getting him as a peak-human who has a magic hammer.
Even when ODIN cast THOR to Earth in the comics all those years ago, he was worthy of the hammer. It was the fact that THOR was arrogant to the extreme and a braggart that needed to learn some humility that made ODIN cast him out.

I suspect a good portion of the movie will be THOR learning about mortals and love and gain a measure of humility. Then comes the attacks of the Destroyer and THOR must seek out the crater where his enchanted hammer would be since by rights nothing and no one on Earth should be able to move the hammer.

which when he first appeared is more along the lines of what he was. sure, over the years he's been amped rather significantly, but Thor wasn't quite on par with the Hulk and this was back when they first appeared.

still, doesn't mean i dont want to see him fling a tank or two around.

Just watched it.

My first impression from seeing it was "This reminds me of Masters of the Universe".

But the movie is still a ways off so I'm taking this trailer as "Hey guys, we didn't want you to leave here empty handed so here's what we have worked on so far" and it'll get polished up and whatnot for next year.

However, the thing that works against it is the first ComicCon Iron Man trailer that came out a year before the movie and when it got to the end with Iron Man flying it already looked awesome with Thor I thought "it could be ok".

I predict a scene in which powerless Thor stands alone between the Destroyer and a group of innocents, thus proving himself "worthy" again.

Also, "I SAY THEE NAY!!" must be uttered at some point. I have spoken. *nod*

I never read the old issues from when he started, but I assumed he was basically as he is now. Stan Lee commented that Thor was made to be the one guy who could stand up to the Hulk.

Hopefully we'll get to see him cut loose in a desert battle with The Destroyer.

Still, I hope it's not like Iron Man in that the action scenes are rather short and he's not at full power for the end battle.

I don't even think much of thor, he's cool and all, but never followed him at all. I thought the trailer was pretty awesome though. I'm definitely interested. I like that they are focusing on the "humanity" angle because I get the feeling that is pretty important to establish for a Norse God. Whereas for Iron Man it was important to establish just how anti-human and even god-like the character could be.

Just my admittedly uneducated interpretation though.

Well we all know is going to happen. At some point when he finally proves that he is worthy to wield Mjolnir, he'll be able to call it from it's desert resting spot, it'll fly into his hand, he will strike the ground with it and with a lightning display rivaling Tesla he'll appear all costumed up and ready to kick some Destroyer and Loki behind.

The crowd goes wild.

As long as they crank "you've been thunderstruck" by AC/DC at that exact moment then I too will join the crowd in going wild!

If Thunderstruck isn't in there somewhere, I for one will be very sad.

Also this.

I dunno; that sounds like something out of "A Knight's Tale" to me. Besides, I thought AC/DC was Iron Man's signature band in the Marvel movie universe (never mind that "Iron Man" is a Black Sabbath song...). Maybe for Thor they should bust out with "God of Thunder" by KISS.

Looks much better than I thought it would.

They're going to need some CGI and film tricks to make Mjolnir seem heavier. He's wielding it like it weighs two pounds/one kilo!

Make it look like it would shake the earth and call down the THUNDER!

Iron Man wasn't even about Iron Man! After all, he was turned to steel in the great magnetic field when he traveled time for the future of mankind.
