All DAY Thursday? That must be some maintenance! Kinda wish that wasn't my only day off this week.

When you say "All Servers", does that include beta servers?

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

Whoa. That's a heck of a lot of maintenance. I am a little confused as to why there's a discussion thread about it, though.

Sounds like major hardware maintenance. Considering the backups they are making the previous two days I'm guessing updating the RAID disk arrays and server board upgrades.

Either that or they are going to be going though a lot of can air and give the servers a good cleaning.

Got to prep for the influx of GR players.

All the devs are going to be playing Starcraft II?

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

Ok, that made me spit my milk.

I am trying to remember them doing anything like this in the 6+ years I've been playing this game... but coming up blank.

I really hope this doesn't involve a gigantic update after the downtime.

Just want to know, are we getting our time credited back to our subscription?

Figures this would have to happen on my Birthday :P
Good thing I wasn't planning on taking the day off from work to stay home and play.

Don't suppose any Red Names feel like sharing with us what the (unprecedented?) 12 hour maintenance means for the server farm ... so we can feel good about it ... do they? I'd like to have an actual reason to NOT reach for the DOOOOOOOOOOM!!!(tm) button if there's one available.

It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...

The servers were down for like two days right before CoV came out. I'm guessing this is something similar, getting ready for GR.

My theory is this:

They are prepping the servers for Going Rogue, not just for the influx of potential new/returning players but also to set up the "pre-download" of the GR art assets much like they do for Issue releases; when you log out, you get an immediate download of the majority of the code needed for the next Issue so that when it goes live, you only have a much smaller patch to download instead of a huge one thus clogging the patch server.

I think it might be something to with something in August.

My guess though would be server side work that needs doing before loading GR to the live servers. It probably has to happen some time anyways.

You are aware that 16 hours of downtime, assuming an even distribution of money paid across every second in the 30 days, comes out to 33 cents, assuming you pay month-by-month. You can't even buy a pack of gum for that.

They pull booth duty at one of the most crowded cons in the US, get little sleep, go drinking to pass the time and they come back all ornery.

I really hope that the lag and chronic mapserv's on the servers gets a lot better after this. It's only been getting worse since issue 17 and I've got a hunch that we are in need of some major maintenance.

Right, which is why this is different. GR is weeks away. Not complaining, just saying I don't remember them ever doing something like this, since launch day of CoH.

Yes you can. Pack of 5 stick wrigley's at Family Dollar is 30 cents. Since its under 50 cents there is no tax. So you can buy a pack of gum. :P
