Street Hunting to 50
Incredible!! Well done and congrats to you!
I don't know if I would have the stamina to do that, however, am willing to give it a go.

It was actually pretty easy, since I wasn't in a hurry. I saved him for times when my friends were logged off, and made sure I had plenty of Patrol XP. It was fun to roleplay a bit, staking out a "neighborhood" in different zones and trying to keep the streets clear.
I dont really know how long it took in real time, but Solitary has been on patrol for 119 hours. A lot of that was running back and forth to Wentworths to sell, as the drop rates were pretty spectacular.

That's a solid amount of hours.
Great name too.
I will try that out. You really get to know each zone doing that I would think, which comes in handy for those inevitable hunt mishes.

Very cool project, gratz to you!

I have to admit, I find the idea intriguing. I remember early early on when CoH launched that we only street sweeped. I didn't even know what a contact WAS at the time
And those were some of the most fun I've had, though I did team in Perez park (good times )
I applaud your accomplishment,
but feel sad that street-sweeping has become such an unusual practice, that it warrants a thread about it.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the post - I'm saying isn't it sad that street sweeping has all but disappeared from the game.
Some of my most treasured early memories of this game are from PuG street-sweeping teams, or sweeping on the way to a mission, or whatever.
There's an organic...flow...to street-sweeping that's just not found on those same few, tired old mission maps.
But a birdy tells me G-R will introduce a mechanic that may well bring street-sweeping back into vogue!
Last night Solitary, my fire/wp scrapper on Liberty, hit level 50 by only solo street hunting.
He has never been on a team, talked to a contact (other than trainers and stores), or been on a mission. He simply works alone protecting the streets. The process was much more entertaining and rewarding than I thought it would be. Are there any others who have done something similar? |

I still street sweep fairly often. Not all the way to 50 to the exclusion of contacts though. And, I do love me some dark astoria sweeps. That place is awesome.
I love watching the glowing runes through the fog.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

So it was your damn fault that I couldn't find any mobs around the street for my hunt mission!

The halloween event made this practice especially interesting.

Good on you!
I don't think I did missions or teamed for the first year I played. My first 50, an Elec/Elec Blaster, mostly did solo street sweeping to get there.
The beauty of it was that you face a range of different level enemies while you're doing it. There's a group of 10 even-cons, BLAM! without even thinking. Then you spot a big juicy bag of XP thats a +5 Leiutenant, and wonder if you can...
I have particularly good memopries of hunting aorund the hills in Founders Fall, looking for Fungoids. They could mez me, but gave much more XP than most equivalent leiutenants.
I still street sweep occasionally for badges. When I'm trying to do Family bosses or Fake Nems or whatever, I try to find a good patch where theres a challenge and XP involved.
Wow. I know that I don't have the patience to stick to something like that. . . . kudos to you, good sir. Kudos.

Street hunting all the way to 50 is impressive. Especially since you never teamed or talked to contacts while doing it.
Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...
I remember my old SG tried a street-sweeping team, but on a team of 8 the progress really started to slow down in the mid-to-late 20s and we abandoned the project. Kudos to you... I'd been meaning to level something to 50 entirely by sewer teams, but I'm not sure I can spend that much time doing that.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
My MA-only Virtual Lad (leveling his way up to 50 only in the MA with no farming or PLing) salutes your "outside the box" thinking, Itomic! Congrats!

That's a really nice project there.
I street sweep at low levels but to do it to 50; incredible.

I'm currently doing something similar, although I'm only up to level 18. This is with a character that only uses Pool powers, so being able to pick and choose the spawns to tackle outside of a mission makes things a little smoother.
However, it turned out that Smith was not a time-travelling Terminator
Wow. Impressive. Two really cool projects going on here. The OP and Decorum's Virtual Boy.
I don't think I would have the patience for either, but I salute both of you.
Words to the wise aren't necessary- it's the stupid ones that need them.

I remember street sweeping back before we had things like mission completion bonuses, patrol xp, ed, agro caps, aoe caps and the purple patch. Used to be the most efficient way to lvl
Spines/ D A lvl 50 Scrap, stone/wm lvl 50 tank, Kat/reg lvl 50 Scrap
Grav/Kin lvl 50 Cont, Fire/Enegry lvl 50 Blast
Warshade lvl 50, PB lvl 39, nightwidow lvl 50, crab lvl 42
plant/thorns lvl 50 dom, ice/fire lvl 40 dom, grav/nrg lvl 41 dom
