  1. I have to give credit to Mystel for this fantastic idea. Halloween is coming up, and we can't be the only ones thinking about what we're going to wear.
Well, how about this. Dress up as one of your toons and send in the pictures! We can then gather up all the pictures and compile into a massive collage, album, etc. as another show of solidarity.

It doesn't have to be your main - I know there are going to be some that are nigh on impossible, Ascension back piece anyone? - heck, it doesn't even have to be one of your actual toons as long as it's obviously a hero and it's not a previously copyrighted character. That means no Batman (*also hangs his head in slight disappointment*).

Halloween itself is still quite a while away so please don't feel like you have to wait until then to reply. Upload a pic as soon as you can - if you're comfortable, put your own and your character's name on it, or just the pic if you'd rather not be known. And if you'd REALLY rather not be known, send it to superready@hotmail.com and I'll make sure it gets included anonymously.
  2. Fantastic. It was really amazing to see such a turnout tonight - and Tony's updates only made it even better.
  3. Well, we've got quarter of an hour to go and we're now up to 25. By my calculations that's 1200+.
  4. Yes, there is still at least one guy that can reboot the servers...we saw him in the coffee talk. And I'm pretty sure the remaining staff are aware of the vigil.
  5. Really? That's not good. That's gotta be a Paragon member doing that surely?
  6. Oh, no doubt that's why. But I think Nanas' point was that they're treading in very fishy legal waters, unless they perform refunds for this time. Especially seeing as there's been no official announcement from NCSoft about the closure... there is a good chance there are people who haven't heard about the closure who are going to be rightfully miffed.
  7. Hey guys - this has made its way onto the Memebase voting pages now please head on over and give it a thumbs up!

  8. I would buy and play such a game, *IF* it held true to the current standard of customisation of your character(s). If given cookie-cutter or pre-built characters to play with? No chance.

That said, I LOVED Freedom Force, for two reasons. One being that I hadn't played CoH yet and so I couldn't compare the character creator to the tools we have now (and honestly it'd be an unfair comparison given FF's age).
Two, I really like Freedom Force's characters and recognise that the story wouldn't have as much punch with self-made characters, as it wouldn't be possible to have the kitsch but entertaining voice-acting that it has.
  9. Well, seeing as I've now not only handed in my stuff but also taken some leaving gifts, going back isn't *really* an option (I wanna keep my new Batman t-shirts, dammit).

I will however submit myself for burning. Just expect me to be wearing said t-shirt when I fry.
  10. Guys, we *have* an organised response. Please, please, please check out the Titan board - cohtitan.com/forum - that narrows it down to just 2 Facebook pages we should be concentrating on supporting, as well as concentrating other efforts.
  11. Resent you a mail - seems I got skipped over first time. If my skills don't appear useful or duplicate something already taken, please, just say so - I won't be offended.
  12. Depends on whether I can guarantee the curse continuing. I hear Call of Duty and Madden NFL are popular.
  13. It's just occurred to me today, I may have called the obtuse laws of the universe into bringing about the demise of the game. Allow me to explain.

In April of 2004, which you may recognise as the month the game was released, I found myself a new job with my current employer. That means I've been here over 8 years now - for reasons I won't go into, I recently decided to get myself another job and have now done so. Today marks my last day in this office.

...it was two weeks after I handed in my resignation, to the day and almost exactly to the hour, that Paragon announced that CoH would be closing down.

So, sorry all! I hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me...
  14. Might be to do with me being in the UK, but - the video is marked as private, I can't open it. If it's the one from the Titan boards though, I did see it and it is glorious.

Tony, I suggest the .gif version is immediately sent to the Senorgif memebase page - do you have someone on this already, or do you want me to?

  15. Not to mention, buying up enough NCSoft stock to be able to hold sway in that kind of decision means sudden responsibility for the future of the company as a whole - including all those other MMOs and the studios working on them.

While I will applaud anyone rich and crazy enough to do that, I highly doubt they would - you don't get that kind of money by being the kind of person that will throw it all down just to save their favourite game, you get it by having a shrewd business head.

Seeing as you've raised the idea of crowd-funding though - just in case you're not aware, although you probably are - you should take a look here:
    http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index....ard,134.0.html
TonyV and the Titan crew are working on a few avenues of approach to save CoH, and a Kickstarter to raise funds is one of them (although not in action just yet).
  16. Aside from the name acquisition, all I've ever seen on this is rumour and conjecture - no solid sources to back any of it up. In fact, I've seen NO external updates whatsoever, not even anything to say it's been held up, cancelled... the thing was never even announced.

That acquisition was years ago now, to boot. Put simply - this isn't happening, even *IF* once upon a time it might have been.
  17. I went through denial and anger in about... ooh, a day... then I read TonyV's post on Titan. That put me straight through to stage 6 - righteous inferno of purpose.

  19. Like any company, they are subject to change even at the highest levels of hierarchy and so any claim to NEVER support that company again are... well... unwise, at best. I could mention the complete turnaround that Valve managed - everybody loves them, but who remembers how much everyone hated them on the release of Half Life 2 with the required online connection? How many people said they'd never support Valve again, and how many have gone and played games like Team Fortress and Left 4 Dead since?

The company I currently work for have also managed a turnaround this year and been able to give all staff a substantial rise AND a bonus, where we had none for the 2 years previous. A massive change in staff treatment, all because one CEO (who was, by the way, ridiculously selfish) was replaced.

I will temper this counter-argument with this admission, though - while I can't say I will never buy another NCSoft game again, it will be AT LEAST a couple of years before I do, for the same trust issues that many others are bringing up. I also note that I have absolutely NO interest in any of their other MMOs - so if they want to alienate the Western market, they're going about it the right way.
  20. Thank you so much to TonyV and all the folks at Titan. It's not just good to know that we have the toon info saved off for later - it's a sign of hope that all the hard work going on behind the scenes isn't for naught. We're not even a week in and we have this in our hands already? Means we're getting somewhere.

More seriously? The Devs are well aware of how the industry works, particularly MMOs but gaming in general - very few developers are "safe" because of the sheer amount of control in the hands of the publishers. However, that doesn't mean that has to be the case here, so don't give up!

This, a thousand times over. If you haven't done this already, DO IT - go create a throwaway email account from a free provider like Hotmail or Gmail. It's good to have an email address you really don't care about, not just for this but so many other things you'd be too wary to check out otherwise.
  23. Agreed - please click that button! You'll have to sign up, but all it needs to create the login is an email address (who here doesn't have a secondary address?). I've done both now.

Y'know, I realise this is an obvious attempt at trolling (that, or you're downright insane)... but I have to admit, I laughed.
  25. All I can say on NCSoft's web presence is this. I've been trying to get onto ncsoft.com - the first Google result, and let's face it the most obvious site address to have for the company - for days. I've had nothing but timeouts.

I had the same result about 6 months ago.

Like srmalloy I'm convinced that they don't really care about the state of their online footprint.
