Best Corruptor

If you like buffing, go with /Kin, otherwise go with /Dark or /Rad. In my own opinion, I like Dark the best.

dunno about 'best', but my favorite is the Goat's fire/dark combo.

I also really liked my first corrupter, a fire/rad which is now retired along with my CoV only account.

Of course I'm having a lot of fun with my new project, dual pistols/cold.

It really is hard to go wrong with a corrupter....

As someone who quit his traps in grief over the PGT nerf:

Traps is still a very high perfromer Solo or teamed.

Traps has Caltrops, one of the single best powers in the game in the hands of a master.

The only sets I would recommend NOT using are Traps and Trick Arrow. They simply don't bring as much to the party as the other sets.

Have you played /TA to 50? Playing a toon to level 28 and then dumping it is not really "playing it". I have a arch/ta that is a MUST on any LRSF. If played "correctly" (as is the case with most toons) it is very beneficial to a team. Just because its not buffing YOU doesnt mean im not de-buffing the baddies and that its not a good set. Everyone has their own opinions...I am very fond of the ta skill sets.

Corruptor 50's
Angle Iron arch/ta, Koran Klaskos fire/therm, Cherri Chinook ice/kin, Darrad Von Malikite rad/rad, Soniferous Malikite son/kin, Herr Herschaft fire/cold, Frau Herrschaft ice/cold, Kradnik dark/kin, Mr Mediocrity dark/dark, Chronic Sentinal elec/pain

I made a Dark Blast/Sonic Buff Corr and it was bad IMO, but I always like a challenge. My all time favorite Corr is my Sonic/Rad and my second fav is a Rad/Pain(lvl 50). After my first pain corr I got into a Pain Corr frenzy and made a Energy/Pain(lvl 50), Elec/Pain(lvl 38), and a DP/Pain(lvl 40).

I can't believe /TA isn't getting more love.

-DMG, 2 -RES powers, a Hold, an AoE Slow with -fly, an immob with -fly, 2 -DEF powers, and a 'nuke' that acts as an AoE Hold and a -Regen that is still great for AVs.

I never tried /TA. Is it really that powerful?

TA is very nice as a secondary support set. It's got a decent mix of powers to help a team. However, it has virtually no ability to mitigate the impact of an alpha strike and it's defensive powers overall are not that great (outside of EMP arrow which rocks). So while it's nice to have one around to boost damage you do not want to rely on it as your sole form of support unless you are confident that you don't need any damage mitigation.

TA for corr's has absolutely no place in this steamrolling team discussion (considering people have shot down traps and other sets.) It is an all debuff set that is outdebuffed in almost every department by the other sets, and those other sets typically do it with 2-3 powers. With TA, you will likely be almost done with your debuff attack chain by the time the mob is killed. Not the funnest playstyle. Also, acid arrow is so positional it makes its effectivity, especially in teams, much less so.

If you are looking purely at what debuffs TA can dish out, yeah it seems powerful. But if you look at the debuff values and take into account how many powers it took to get that amount, you will see a total different story.

I personally love my Fire/Kin Corr. Sure, it isn't FoTM anymore, but it's an excellent buffing toon with incredible damage. Some of the most fun I've had in the game is teaming with 7 brutes and my Fire/Kin. It turns into a bloody insane massacre. Speed Boost them all, use Siphon Speed, zip in after they draw aggro to use Fulcrum Shift, Heal, throw an attack or two, and then you're onto the next big group.

Solo, it lacks damage mitigation, but I've still been able to take out the occasional EB without help.

Too many alts to list.

I can honestly say that Traps has its good points, and Dark Miasma has its good point.

However theres only 2 definitive things that make either one of them useful when you make take either for a Corruptor.

Those things are the Primary you take, and the Way you build it....To team or not to team...that is the question.

Iv got a AR/Traps Corruptor and a Traps/Rad Defender. Both can Solo and team just fine. Many time they tend to Tank reguardless if theres a Tanker or Brute on the team simply because they can control the fight in what I perfer to call my "Kill Zone".The moment I set up a Mortar, Poison Trap, or Mine and set up my Trops on it and fire into the mob.My "Kill Zone" acts like a Venus Fly Trap and I can Tank solo or in a team setting.

Or ill simply just Alpha a mob with Seeker Drones, jump in, set up a Mine and continue from there.Either way, its good fun.

I have a Dark/Dark Defender and a Dark/Elec Defender (Recently rerolled into a Corruptor). Both Tank very well, effortlessly in fact. However my Elec does far more damage then my Dark Blasts Defender does, and having Aim definatly helps when you need that desprate heal to go off or you want the entire mob to take the brunt of your AoEs without fearing much of a miss.

So its all in how you play your Character and what Primary/Secondary you take.

I say both Dark Miasma and Traps are definate power houses.I wouldnt knock either one of them.

Cold, all rounderness. I dunno whats best and couldn't give a monkees but I do think there is an element of an I win button with Cold.

/Traps /Trick Arrow /Kinetic are sets that I find easiest to squeeze fully slotted Assault and Tactics in.

Since it's been asked, and it's usually opinion based!

Cold Domination!

Those Ice Shields just help protect your team, that much.

Then add in your debuffs, and go!

Radiation is nice, but I find with a lot of teams, they don't keep all the enemies in the toggle ranges, which is what keeps the team as a whole safer.

Cold by passes that by saying "Shield Up".

Cold just as good at debuffing (if not better) AVs.

RAD does has a few tricks Cold doesn't. +RCH for one, but in general, I find Cold Domination to be the best (And one of the most underused) Corr Sets (or buff/debuff sets period).

I think the best overall Corr at level 50 is Fire/Cold. You get awesome buffs, debuffs, and damage. What more can you ask for from a Corr?

I've played all of the corruptor primaries and secondaries, and the only powerset that I just don't like in most circumstances is /sonic resonance. Now THAT is a set that brings little special to the table. In fact, it may make the team like you even less (ugly colored/KB/headaches).

As for the traps debate, I'll say that I loved my traps much more before the rightful bug fix that was the poison trap nerf. You can still do insane things on a cheaply I/O'd trapper, but most of the set combos can do as much with as much effort. I prefer my /cold, /dark, and /storm now more. I'd just recommend to look for synergies between sets, playstyles, and potential I/O'd final builds if someone looking to make a corruptor asked.

My first (and still favorite) toon was a fire/dark. Theres nothing like fearing a whole mob, tar patching (taking all the time u want because they cant swing), maybe a debuff or two, then rain of fire. Double stacking tar patch on the tougher guys is pretty nice too. With a good team and enough recharge you can tripple stack it... IDK if the -res stacks though

I've played a lot of corruptors and overall I find /cold to be the best. It just has the best combination of buffs and debuffs and requires no maneuvering to utilize them to their fullest potential. You're just as good steamrolling through mobs as you are with slower paced teams.

That said, Fire is pretty far beyond any of the blast sets and it happens to pair rather well with /Cold.

I love my Grav/TA but in fairness powers like Tar Patch and Freezing Rain wee all over the Acid Arrow / Disruption Field combo on their own (and they can stack).

Plus Ice Arrow is probably the worst hold in the game thanks to the animation time (better than it was though, but still pretty rubbish).

And EMP Arrows -Regen lasts for 15 second. Which isn't much use. As an anti AV power it's a joke.

I like TA, but it still needs love. It's pretty much the weakest vs AVs debuffing set going and things like the Oil Slick bug can make it hideous on any pet-heavy teams.

My vote.. Ice/Cold.

The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.

If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-

Fire is by far the best blast set. With that said, i think /dark is the most well rounded secondary (after leveling my fire/dark the past several days i find it to have the most tools and survivability), /cold and /rad are both excellent sets. Its hard to give an edge to one, sleet does pretty much everything all of rads toggle debuffs do (except for -tohit), but rad has a heal. That is my opinion, fire and then /dark/cold/rad in no particular order.
