I made some changes. I after adding a few more toggles i had a serious endurance problem even for an /elec. I feel like it is better than the previous build. I went back and too eviscerate because i figured the time i was spending redrawing from using the soul attacks was just as bad as the animation for eviscerate. Also, i am not sure if my mids updated or what but my resistances were not as high as i thought. Here is the new build.

i swapped out power surge for maneuvers. I am not familiar with the Brute AT set but someone showed it to me last night. I will definitely look into it. I also think i am going to drop a few of the powers i took in order to put more slots into my standard attacks. This was an old build that already had all 4 sets of kinetic combat slotted. Thank you very much for your comments.

Just reworked an old build (back before inherent fitness) and had a few questions. I want to be able to do +4/x8 with this toon, is soft capped defense absolutely necessary? Currently my S/L defense is at 39.7 with all of my resistance's above 65% except for toxic. Wanted some feedback before I used a respec. Also, i did not take eviscerate because i remember reading it actually slows down you dps. Did not take shockwave either because i have it currently and hate the knockback.

I just started playing again and picked up with a SS/SD brute i was leveling when i quit. I retweeked my build because it was before fintness was inherent. I took One with shield and was using it as a slot mule but i never actually use the power. Was getting some Defense out of it with IO's. Here is my current build.

Was thinking of switching and picking up Spring Attack because some folks were telling me about it and when i came back i was unaware of it all together. I lose a bit of defense but gain slightly in recovery. Not to mention I will have a power i actually can use.

I plan on farming with this toon as the end goal to supply my others with Inf and drops. Any suggestions? -
ahhh, all this is making it very hard to pick. I really hate the knockback, as do the teams i am on. But dark obliteration does half the damage and recharges in twice the time that shockwave does. decisions decisions
-
the KB is kind of annoying, although i have noticed if you hit shockwave followed by spin, spin still hits the targets that were knocked back. The redraw is a short animation so i don't think it will be THAT annoying. Does dark obliteration do comparable damage? or is shockwave heads above it.
-
I have a claws/elec brute im leveling, and I have shockwave at the moment. I was wondering if dark obliteration is a better choice. I know it does not come until much later in the game but I am going in the soul mastery pool anyway so i can get gloom and was just thinking that it may be better since it is a targeted AoE and no cone to position when the mobs are dog piling on you. Any thoughts or suggestions?
-
ill take a closer look tomorrow cause it is late right now, but a few things i notice right off. Take Blaze, not blazing bolt. Your attacks are over slotted. I personally did not take inferno in my build, i hate the crash. Like someone said above me, fire breath is a great power that does alot of damage. Fearsome stare is a great power that can be used as an alpha and is a great debuffer along with DN. Sorry this post is so scatter brained, im tired. I will give you some better feedback tomorrow.
-
Hey bud, I can not click on the link if you wouldn't mind posting the data chunk i can give you some suggestions.
-
I will let someone else make the long post. In short, a tank is going to be more survivable, a brute is going to kill faster. Once you IO a brute, if done right, it should be just as survivable as the tank.
-
I got a new computer and just downloaded mids and it is giving me an error when trying to install. Keeps saying that every file is messed up or something. Anyone know how to fix it or if i need to download something else to make it work? Thanks in advance
-
Which one should i take? I know the differences but i see builds with both. Anyway, just want some other opinions. Thanks
-
So I want to make a Fortunata but have no clue which powers to take. It doesn't seem like many people post in the SoA forums so I am going to post my build here. Let me know what you think. This is my first try for a fortunata build so I am open to any suggestions or ideas.

my fire/dark has 37.8% S/L defense and 157.5% global recharge (6 seconds off of perma hasten). I have no endurance problems at all unless I am really going full bore for a extended period of time, still nothing a single blue can not fix. I also have a 60% enhancment to accuracy. I do not feel I have sold myself short on any aspect and have still managed to get a good amount of defense.
forogot to mention, I did not take fighting or leadership to get the defense. -
You will want some. You do not really need to softcap, but you will definitely want some more defense. 20-25 + will be plenty. That stacked with the -tohit will keep your health bar green.
*EDIT* You do not need to "build" for it. But i would take mace for scorption shield at least. I did not build for it on my lvl 50 but now basically full IOed (dont have purples yet or all of my LotGs), it definitely made a big difference. -
I have looked it some. You can swap out leaping for flight. I still can not get the endurance use/recovery any better. The problem comes from running the fighting toggles. Steamy mist needs more end reduction, that is your most expensive toggle. I am not sure what else to tell you. You could probably change the slotting in lightning storm, it may be a big over slotted. You could then use some of those slots to get better end reduction.
Hope that helps. -
I am about to leave for work so I will look at it a bit more when I get home. I was thinking though, unless you are jsut set on corruptor, I may would make this a Defender so you wont be forced into taking gale which is useless.

Since you cant see this, I will tell you. Scorption Shield and Weave both are not getting any bonus from the gift of the ancients due to the rule of 5.
The endurance drain on this build is pretty high and the net recovery is pretty low. Considering you do not have any kind of power to get your endurance back, you may want to either build for more + recovery, or get some more end reduction in the toggles. Another option would be to drop mace and go for mu and pick up power sink, but then your defense will not be near as good as it is (almost softcapped to S/L and ranged is at 42). -
thanks for the info. I am going to take your advice magik and go with the this. I feel like having to pop insiprations all the time is a set back in a build. Being able to just GO GO GO is what i like in a brute.
-
i have a SS/SD brute sitting at eh, lvl 24 or so. I was wondering if taking physical perfection would make him end sufficient or if I will still have problems. I would like to finish him and get him IOed and maybe be my farming guy but after playing to 24 he is an endurance eating animal. Anyone done this or know if it will help out as much as I am hoping it will?
-
not sure that storm would be that great in PvP but idk, never played it. Fire/cold would be good.
Your rad/rad build looks pretty solid for the most part. A few changes I would make:
1.) I would take mace mastery instead of soul. You will automatically get resistance to everything since it is PvP and although having it capped is very nice, you do not have the HP of a brute or a tank to leverage all the resistance, which is why i prefer defense but that is me. May also web cocoon for some soft control.
2.) I may would think of dropping tough and weave and picking up assult and tactics, or maneuvers and tactics.
3.) You did build for quite a bit of KB protection and that is good, 41 KB proection or higher is ideal.
That is all i really have for ya man. If you post this build in the PvP forums I am sure you will get some feedback, but don't get discouraged if alot of people are negative (they seem to be a bit more vicious than they are on other forums over there). Over all though, i think it is a solid starting point.
*EDIT* As stated above, hibernation is a choice that people like alot for defense. If you are planning on doing zone pvp this may be the way to go. If you are doing arena, i would go scorption shield. Hiber only delays the inevitable. -
your rad/rad should do pretty well in PvP. Cold is a good pvp set because it has amazing single target debuffs that are applied quickly and basically alst until they are up again. Dark can be good if built right (i have a 50 dark/cold corr) but you are only goign to really use dark blast and gloom out of the blast set as far as pvping goes (will prob want to dual build so you can contribute in PvE while leveling). Honestly though, if you have a rad/rad at 50, use it. cosmic burst -> cosmic burst -> cosmic burst...thats your attack chain. And nutrino bolt can be kinda decent with enough procs.

How does it work? Only once every time the power is activated? Is it worth putting in Rain of Fire? Thoughts? Opinions?
-
stealth will give little to none of the defense it provides once you start attacking. Its like a stalker coming out of hide.
