A Market Journal: From 0 to Millions
Forget marketeering red side atm sheesh. I'll get back to it after the merge
Wow! I was pointed to this thread from another thread in the Players Question sections in regards to someone asking why they can't get inf. lol
Anyway I've never played the market. I sell drops there but never pay attention to the crafted vs non crafted values. I think I'll do this more now.
I'm actually a billionaire on one toon but honestly it was from playing and selling drops. He has decent sets on him but not one single purple (though I have two waiting for some mates). So basically until recently I've sold them all, which weren't many. He technically could be a farmer since he's spines/dark, but I've not really played him that way. I never played AE much and none at all with this toon but it sounds like I could play him on lunch breaks at work and possibly get another billion or so with minimum effort.
I've read Fulmens and Nethergoats guides before but I honestly have the patience of a gnat. But this for some reason really showed me it can be done even by a super casual gamer like me. Yes I'm casual, I play mostly on weekends and the occasional night here or there. I'm also an altaholic which makes earning money for me harder because I don't have a good enough memory or discipline to check my markets on my many many toons.
Great guide/experiment!

I'm still making inf, but there is a very definite pull-back effect at work.
Enough people are stocking up for the merger to make a noticeable difference.

I cant understand how you get the same recipe every day.... Level 30 Steadfast Res/End...
I am now inspired to play the market. I have lots of uncrafted recipes that can sell for loads of inf....just never thought of playing the market until now.
Thanks for the inspiration!

Using this guide, I have managed to get 3+ billions in 3 weeks, starting from 0 influence, simply because I am a newbie and joined the game on 30th December.
Thank you!
Hah! Go to the market forum, then, so you can be told that it's impossible for new players to succeed at the market, because all us marketeers are keeping you down with our market manipulation powers.
Now I know why I see such high prices for things. You made more in two hours than I've made in 6 months. I guess I prefer to play than just craft and farm.
With tip missions and the hero/villan merits the amount of market crafting or pure market buying has been reduced even more.
If you play the game and can only do 5 tips a day, every 2 days you should be able to make at least 100 mil with ANY toon that can do tips. When you get a hero/villan merit you have a choice to make. If you feel lucky you can random roll it for 5 rare recipes (probably best to pick the 30-35 range), craft any that sell for more than 10mil crafted (any less than that the rare salvage prices will kill you). If you dont like the luck factor you can buy LOTG +rech every 4 days craft that one item and sell it for 200-400 million.
Prior to tips I would AE for tickets and buy low, craft sell high. Now I only do tips and I have more money then ever, with less time spent crafting/marketing.

I actually have a quick question that is not related to the marketeering part of this thread. In the OP's picture in the 1st post, there is a window on the left of his screen that shows HP, End and Influence. How do I get that information window on my HUD? I couldn't find any options that turned on a window like that.

Now, browse through the list of attributes. Right click any of them and select "Monitor this attribute." This will put that attribute into a little window you can drag around the screen. This window can hold up to 10 attributes, and can be reordered.
Where to now?

Click on the "Powers" tab on your tray. At the top of the tab that opens up is "Combat Attributes." Click that.

Fury, I just wanted to say thank you...
I've played this game on and off since beta. Yet, inf was something I never really had enough of. Oh, once I got to 50, none of my characters wanted for much. SOs were always placed on every toon once they got to lvl 22, but the heart of the matter was getting the really, REALLY nice things for my bigger characters.
Then, one day, I read this guide.
One week later, after doing the WTFs (I prefer that title) for last week and this, doing my villain missions, doing some AE work, and getting my merits traded and my recipes bought, my "crafting" character (50 widow) broke 1 billion.
Thank you thank you!
**EDIT- well, heck, I can't make the picture bigger... It says 1,155,187,312. Anyway, thank you!
$350,000,000 in 12 hours following this advice. Sweet!
This whole thread is very similar to my experiences with the market. After playing on and off for 4 years, I really didn't have much of a need for inf. However, after being cooped up at home for surgery recovery for about 3 weeks, I needed something to do. Hence, the market came into play. After reading part of this thread and asking around, I formulated my own way of making money.
I got about 2 billion in 2 weeks, and it wasn't consistent playing.
Thanks for the knowledge
On some of the other items, it depends on what it is. If sale prices are large but the frequency of sales isn't every day, you probably want to let them sit for at least a week. For my experiment, I didn't do that since I had a time limit. Also, on characters that I play infrequently, I'll just let things sit until the next time I log on. It's nice to logon to a character and realize they have 500M of sales waiting for them.
