I'm only sending this out to let people know that it's entirely possible to not lag on the ITF in ULTRA settings.
    Good luck resolving your issues.
The problem here is not everyone can afford to spend the kind of money that you've obviously spent on your system. I have a very nice rig but I don't have the video card or the internet connection that you have. I'm running a GTX 260 with Windows 7 64-bit, 6gb ram, quad core, liquid cooling system, IP 12mbps down 6mbps up. I don't think anyone would argue the point that my system is an extremely good rig but it is nowhere near as good as yours. I have these problems on a very good rig and the point is that I shouldn't.

    Unlikely, I know.
Then why even play an mm? That's not a solution.

    Details:

Its the price for bad code on the developers part. Its just like at large ship raids (particularly when there's lots of pets out) or hamidon. The server isn't running things in real time, it is instead simulating the game in discreet time-steps. The problem is when it takes longer on the wall-clock to process a time-step than a time-step is long. (example: if it takes 2 real-life seconds to process 1 second of game time... you can see how things get messed up)

This is compounded by your powers recharge being monitored by your client, not the server. So while the server is a few seconds behind, the client is clueless about it and tells you your power is ready. Unfortunately the server doesn't agree, so when the client says "fire X" the server says "action queued" aka the red ring.

It is a real pity the server doesn't return to the client any sort of time-step information so that the client could run a similar simulation and at least give you accurate power recharge times, even if the server itself can't be fixed to manage to run things within the allocated step-time.

The plus side of this failure mode is that things fail "gracefully" in that regeneration ticks process on that same simulation process, so even though your DPreallifeS is falling, so is the target's regen/power recycle/etc per reallifeS.

Its actually the price you pay for "too many mobs or player pets active at once." If you watch ship raids, lag will be much, much, much worse when a raid has a bunch of MMs and other player summoned pets.

Let me tell you, I'm not looking forward to ship raids with full-incarnate players and everyone summoning two minions.
Very eloquently said. I was thinking the same thing but you explained it much better than I could. The devs "solution" to this problem. Turn off your anti-virus protection, which of course, I'm not going to do. So I'm stuck with the problem.

    ITF lag issues

In the last two missions I have this problem on all of my toons every time I run the ITF certain powers will lag. It's always the same powers in the same missions. For example, on my spines/regen scrapper: mog, buildup and hasten will ALWAYS take anywhere from 5 to 15 seconds before they go off (the red circle appears around them but after that they just quit doing anything). This is an eternity when you are trying kill dozens of enemies coming at you from every direction and keep yourself alive in the process. It only affects 2 or 3 powers on each toon. The rest of my powers will go off normally. I sent in a petition and I'm going through the process with support. The main reason I'm posting here is to see if anyone else has noticed this or a similar problem.

What rock have you been living under? I play almost exclusively on red side/freedom. People DO charge for farms. I'm not saying everyone does it, but I run into it all of the time.

but you always need more hp. because while you might be capped hp while in DP, you can't have it up all the time. its impossible with DR. so you want to have as much hp as possible outside of DP. and i believe healing bonuses get hit pretty hard by DR.

id also probly change teh slotting in fire blast to deva's acc/dam trip and quad with maybe a nuc and a apoc and glad jav proc you still wanna get some accuracy slotting your attacks as well(unless you're gonna go nerve alpha changes things abit)
Ok, I'm a little confused on everything you just said. I missed the boat on DP altogether. I don't even know what that is. I think I figured out what you were trying to say about fire blast and adding more accuracy to my attacks but I'm not sure. I made some more adjustments based on what I thought you were saying but I'm not sure it's what you meant. Fyi - before I added the other miracles stamina and health were both over cap on hp (25.1). Now FH and Int say the same thing. Health is also over cap on regen (12%).

Damage process are the way to go. Why? Because it's the most effective way to add extra damage while bypassing DR. I can't see your hp but imam assume it's somewhat high but I'd trade the adjusted targeting in BU and tactics for gaussions.

You might take out those slots in melt armor sine it's such a weak debuff and six slot your heals 3 num 3 miracle for extra hp. The healing bonus is rather ineffective. also I'd put in a + perception proc.
The previous build was already softcapped HP. I made the adjustments that you suggested except instead of going 3/3 I went 4/2 with the numi's and miracles. 4 numi's gives you a bonus 6% heal and I didn't need the extra hp. I also added an increased perception proc to tactics. There aren't a lot of choices for procs in fire blast that's why I left the heal self and build up there. There's no secondary effects to choose from so I took what I thought would work the best.

Edit: Speaking of procs shouldn't I add a kb protection or 2 somewhere?

your best way to slot defensively, is to slot for HP. lots and lots of HP. get around 80ish rech to get DP up as much as possible. i'd also probably pick up phase with dropping those two powers, because with the way the no phase works, you can hiber for 15 seconds then break it and phase for the other 15. or visa versa, which can be handy.

don't slot brawl, for the love of all that is holy.

and in pvp, proc's are the way to go. if you're having trouble slotting something, my default is to use 2-3 nucleo's and 3 procs, you'll do more damage than using only 4 crushings or 4 kin combats.

i'd probalby just drop fighting all together and get leadership for tactics. you'll want some perception and the tohit is nice. can also use maneuvers for another lotg proc or assault for some damage.

drop acro, you don't need it with intergration.

barb swipe does more damage than lunge, so i'd pick that up instead. and i'd also probably six slot all the attacks you 4 slotted. namely the powers that'll do damage. you'll be kiting so impale and spirit shark should be slotted better and ripper as well for targets that get naded/mezzed.

also, if you find yourself not doing enough damage, you don't have to go levi. its nice for hiber, but if you have phase and mog your pretty much set between those and heals. fire mastery has some nice damage, char does crazy damage and fire blast does nice damage as well, both from range.
So you're thinking something like this?

  11. The Venu Coalition is a group of Villain Groups that act as one. We presently have four VGs and are planning to develop into 10 full groups. I am one of the leaders and we are planning to elect more in the near future. All of our groups are active. Some more than others. We are looking to recruit active toons and future officers to all VGs. If you are interested please contact me in-game @Ghoul Slayer or visit our website VenuSovereignty.guildportal.com.

Here's a little backstory for our VGs

Venu Sovereignty - The first wave of insects from the planet Venu. We scour the universe in search of new planets to conquer. While on a routine reconnaissance mission our ship was caught in an ion storm. We crash landed into an active volcano in the Rogue Isles and we are marooned here. We have spent years in preparation for the fateful day when we will take over this puny rock. Our numbers have grown and now we are seeing the arrival of more reinforcements. Victory will soon be ours!!

Fyre Rants - An elite force of insects from the planet Venu. We like to burn things. If your hobby is arson then this is the home for you.

Legion of Venu - The new wave of reinforcements who have come to Primal Earth to rescue our comrades who have been marooned here so long.

Venu Annihilation Squad - Our tactical assassination squad whose goal is to eliminate key figures as we make our way into Paragon City and Praetoria. You will find most of our operatives in the in-between areas of Primal Earth such as Warburg, Siren's Call, and Recluse's Victory (PvP).

Or why you wanted a cheap build and included 3 sets of purples and 4 LotGs.

Also, Levi mastery's claim to fame is hibernate, which you didn't get.

Hasten is fine with 2 slots.

Use crushing impacts in attacks, defense on a regen is useless.

Make sure recon is slotted for healing and recharge, it's your best heal.

Better enhance your super speed for speed, (1 slot is good, 2 is better) or else you won't be able to catch anything.

you want recharge in MoG, defense can be nice but recharge is much better.

You want performance shifter +end procs in your recovery autos (QR/Stam). If you run out of end, good chance one will proc and you can use MoG to get more recovery.

the LotG +regen and +hp bonuses are kind of low, if you want regen, use the regen tissue proc and maybe slot health with an actual % in healing.

Fast healing and integration are a little overslotted. they only need heal, as recharge is useless for them and your end can handle it. num heal, num heal/rech, num heal/end.

No need for revive. If you revive, they will kill you as you're trying to put your toggles on. If you use MoG to survive, then once you get yourself ready to fight, you'll soon be fighting without it up.

You need either targeting drone, focused accuracy or tactics to get some acc. And you should always throw a kismet +acc in CJ or stealth for more tohit as well. Right now this build would be missing everything. Switch stealth for maneuvers and weave for tactics or something like that.

don't bother slotting boxing, the defense is useless and spine has a weapon redraw.

resilience is fine with 1 res IO

the purple dmg procs are amazing in pvp, replace the Dmg with the proc in each purple set. With the exception of water spout which doesn't have a damage proc.

again, don't bother slotting stealth or weave. give them an LotG but then leave it there, if you want regen or hp, there are better places.

contact me ingame if you have any questions, i give better responses there.

    Just overall tips, GL.
I tried to take most of your advice into consideration, because as I said, I don't know much about PvP. You were right I did say inexpensive so I took out the purples because I only put those in out of habit. I don't consider LoTGs expensive because I can buy them with one or two villain merits. The one thing that boggles my mind is that you think I should get rid of most of my defense. I fail to understand how it could be detrimental in any way to add defense to any toon. I'm still on the fence about putting crushing impact instead of kinetic combat into my attacks. I see what you are going for because the damage output is higher and there's an accuracy bonus. I'm still stuck on the extra defense. I can take cardiac for my alpha slot to make up for it but if I'm not in RV it's useless. The main reason I want more defense is it gives me a little more time to react and use my heals in tough battles. I tried to use your advice as much as possible in making this new build but I had to take at least some defense/resistance:

Edit: I noticed after I posted this that I didn't have enough recharge in hibernate so I reslotted it with Numi heal, Numi heal/rech, and Numi heal/end/rech, PerSh endmod/rech and PerSh endmod/acc/rech.

  13. GhoulSlayer

    No, just no.

And this my friends is what is wrong with blueside in general, repetitive missions, zone hopping on every tf, huge distances between modes of transportation, etc... I'm sure that it's somewhat better since the devs updated the ferry/rail system but it'll always suck as far as I'm concerned. Come over to the dark side (waves hand hypnotically).
  14. Well, it's been an agonizing week. The problems I was having were from a failing hard drive. I've been without a computer for the last 3 or 4 days. I'm back up and running now though and I'll probably be back on the game tomorrow.

Here's the CoH Helper. It wouldn't let me run Hijack This. I'm supposed to click start > run and change the name for hijack this in the registry so it will work but I'm still getting used to Windows 7. I couldn't find run on the start menu. Can you help me out please?

P.S. I may have found one of the culprits. One of my external drives is really overloaded and the other one is getting pretty full too. I'm going to delete some files that I don't need.

P.S.P.S. I closed the error message on Hijack This and it ran. I'm not sure if all the info you need is here but here's what it gave me.

How can I post the results so that you guys can read them?
  17. I spoke too soon the problem isn't solved but it is much better. I reset my in-game graphics to medium which is what was recommended and the lag came back. I put it back down to minimum and I can play with very little or no lag so it's a workaround until I can afford to buy more ram. I think that's the best thing I can do for now unless you guys can recommend something else.

Likely you're having massive resource contention issues complicated by excessive swapping to disk.

All of this will slow you down tremendously.

You didn't have these issues previously because your old OS still had plenty of free RAM. Your newer one doesn't.

More memory should help you out tremendously.

One more question, you're simply going to add the 4GB to the 2GB you have for a grand total of 6GB right?
Actually, I was having problems before, but not to this extent, which is why I upgraded the OS and I'm planning to upgrade my ram soon. Yes, I am going to add 4gb to the 2gb (which will bring it up to 6gb) and later on if I still need it I was going to replace the 2gb with 4gb (2x2gb) for a total of 8gb. I think I may have solved the issue but it's still too early to tell. I talked to a tech guy I know and he recommended I install Avast and uninstall Norton (which I was getting free through Comcast). I did that and I cleaned up my registry with CCleaner and so far it's working good but it's only been about an hour. We'll see in a couple of days if this resolved the problem.
  19. Here's my system specs. Sorry, I should have posted this first:

OS: Windows 7 64 bit home premium
    MOBO: Msi K9n sli v2
GPU: Nvidia GTX 260 1gb ram (1 fan) Driver version 266.58
CPU: AMD phenom 9650 quad core 2.31 ghz
    Ram: 2gb corsair
    DirectX 9.0c

Let me know if you need anything else.

I have 2gb. The reason I upgraded my OS is I'm planning to get another 4gb in a couple of weeks and eventually I will have 8gb.

Edit: My gpu is an NVidia GTX 260 with 1gb ram. Should I get more ram now? I really wanted to wait a couple of weeks until I was in a better financial situation.

I would have to go with stuttering because that sounds like the problem I'm having, although I'm not sure what latency means...

Edit: After looking up latency I'm going to have to change my opinion to that as the problem.

I'm quite sure that it is, but I don't know how to fix it.

Edit: It wasn't working fine. Which is why I wanted to upgrade my system in the first place, but it was working a whole lot better than it is now. I experienced pretty regular lag issues with XP but nothing like this.
  21. The devs have been a little slow in action regarding this issue so I'm coming to the community for help. On Sunday, I changed my OS from Windows XP 32 bit home edition to Windows 7 64 bit home premium. I updated my video card drivers, installed DirectX 9.0c, Adobe Flash Player, etc... Beginning on Tuesday morning I've been having the worst lag in recent memory. It's even affecting this message while I'm typing. I've had to pause several times to wait for it to catch up. Please help!!
  22. This was an utter fail on my part and a complete waste of time. Please disregard it.

I have my albums all set up as publicly viewable, so even if I link to an album instead of an individual picture, you'd be able to see it all, even if you're not logged in/don't have a facebook. If you ever want to do this, there's a little blurb near the bottom of the page that says "Share this album with anyone by sending them this public link:" and then that's followed by a link to that album. For instance, here's a link to the album with all of my profile pictures in it:
    http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...2&l=068d2cee10
And you don't need to log into facebook to see any of the pictures.

To link to an individual picture, it's much easier to follow CR's instructions, but there is a way to link and have it come up with the FB page and show the picture on it. Easier to do CR's method though, so I'm not gonna bother posting it here as it could be confusing.

    Also,

You're not the only mohican here, GhoulSlayer. Although, mine is currently too long to spike regularly. In fact, I think I haven't spiked it since that picture was taken(which was Oct 26 2009). I also think it hasn't been cut since that pic was taken either. The sides get shaved every month or two, but the hawk(hawktail as I call it considering the style now) has been growing for quite some time now.

And all this just made me realize that I have 23 albums on facebook. One of which is that profile pics album, one of which is from a nature hike (aka no people in it), one of them is various random pics that I posted on my wall, and then the other 20 are all my 3D work. Craziness.
    Cool hawk.
  25. Congratz!! I've wanted to run that one and silver mantis solo for the longest time but I don't have a second account and I don't think I could find someone to log in theirs and keep it from logging out long enough to do so. When will they give us the opportunity to run them solo? When I tried before it dropped me from the TF when the last filler quit.
