Yes.

One entry per person ONLY will be accepted, so you will have to choose which category you'd like to enter!
All entries will be judged equally on the following criteria: creativity, originality, visual appearance, and strength of propaganda idea (for Loyalist Billboard Category only).

I for one like that its saying that us good loyalists are blueside and those horrible resistance are redside.

The Abrams is one of the most effective war machines on the planet. - R. Lee Ermy.

Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?

A: You crash into another one.

The actual game thinks otherwise

I'd like to enter this - but I'd be using a 3D art program, and I'm not sure I could get all the parts I needed to make models of Tyrant or his thugs in time for the deadline.

How about some still shots of resistance/loyalist/Praetorean AVs to help us make our images? Or did I miss a link with some good options to pull from?

@Rylas

Kill 'em all. Let XP sort 'em out.

Submitted in .psd format (to preserve layers) if possible; otherwise, .tga format
Hurm. Any chance of allowing other formats like PNG, TIFF, or BMP? My non-thousand dollar editor of choice (Acorn for OS X) doesn't support PSD or TGA.

Thanks!

Looking forward to seeing what people come up with!

I caught and loved that, as well.

Y'know what? Sure. We can work with other formats. Having layers is ideal because it gives us the ability to easily modify individual elements (which would save us time in adapting the art into actual game assets), but the contest is really about clever ideas, so don't let the file format be an issue. Submit the art in any common format, and we'll work around the layer thing.

Have fun!

The examples are just that: examples. Feel free to use whichever characters make sense to you.

And just a tiny bit of art direction for you guys, to point you down the right path: 3D art may not be the best fit in Praetoria b/c we're looking to sources like Communist and American propaganda circa WW2 for inspiration. That means flat, stark colors either alone or combined with a more painterly approach, bold block lettering, and clever graphic design.

We definitely weren't expecting you guys to build and execute in 3D.

Would it be wise to post watermarked WIP's in the art subforum?

I'm normally a very positive person on these forums, but seeing yet another competition I cannot legally enter gets me down.

May I make an Open Source suggestion?

Any chance you might allow videos? If I can get hold of the demofile models for GR, I could probably do an ad for either side, a la Recluse's "I am Recluse, hear me blather" speech on the Grandville monitors.

Well, Photoshop can add some very good efefcts to make 3D look like it's 2D - and as I can't draw, 3D is my best way of doing it

Sure. You guys could probably help each other come up with stronger ideas. I won't be able to weigh in personally (or it'll look like favortism), but when I need art advice, I always find it helpful to run my ideas by a friend.

Sounds like a plan. Just try to think old school, like you're actually working for the Ministry of Proganda in some authoritarian state.

Alas, this one's 2D only, I'm afraid. The Loyalist propaganda will be attached to billboards and the Resistance graffiti will be applied to walls--no tv screens.

We'd like you guys to approach this as a drawing/graphic design challenge. You can use the GR website resources (character profiles and concept art) to get an idea of what some of these characters look like, but shoot for simple, stylized images and think hardest about the message:

What would the Cole government say to keep citizens in line? What truths does the Resistance want to expose?

Ifranview and Photoscape I find quite handy.

Not sure if they're exactly solve your problem but irfanview can open a load of formats including psd. A fast google showed a couple of free converters TO psd.*

Any chance those of us outside the acceptable areas can submit something with the appropriate disclaimers and still have it appear in game, without being eligible for the prizes?

Edit: To clarify, I mean those of us outside the US, Canada and EU.

You're making it sound like Tyrant's some kind of dictator, rather than just a misunderstood hero

Like I said about the 3D, I'd like to enter, but ti depends on what ready-made 3D elements I can find that'd be suitable for Praetorians.
