Beating the Honoree?
debuff, debuff, debuff. i have never run into this problem you speak of. and we always take out the generators last.
hmm. There's a bug floating around that results in some AV's gaining Reichsman values instead of using their AV values. It's been a while since I've run an LGTF, so it's possible that this bug cropped (back) up.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
All that means is you didnt bring enough DeBuffs. I only ever had 1 team unable to down honoree. My next team had 1 Defender, 1 Controller, 3 Corruptors, TanCrab (me), Fire Scrapper, Sonic Blaster. Didn't Stand a chance. It's all in the team makeup.

There's another albeit tougher way to beat him if you don't have (enough) debuffs. The Honoree doesn't have perma-unstoppable. There are short gaps. It is possible to kill him during one of these short gaps, if you have enough DPS.
I was on a LG a few days ago that had some problems with Honoree... And there was two members of the team crying he was impossible to beat.
I suggested a quick fly to AE Shop, some tricky shopping of red Inspirations, and soon we were back pounding him. While he was unstoppable only I was damaging him (Blaster Archery/Mental), but managing only to slow his recovery. As soon as his unstoppable effect was down we all drank a few reds and he was down so hard that I felt guilty for picking on little Honoree...

Yes. I can get lost on a straight-line map.

It can take some time to get the timing right, but it is possible even without debuffs. I hope you have better luck with it next time.
The Honoree has base resistance of the following:
Smashing: 50%
Lethal: 50%
Fire: 30%
Cold: 30%
Energy: 40%
Negative: 20%
Toxic: 20%
Psionic: 50%
The biggest thing to note is that most if not all Archvillains can reach 100% resistance(IE attacks have no effect with that type of damage)
When he uses Unstoppable(200 Second Duration, 245 Second Recharge) he gains 70% to all but psionic, upping his resistances to this:
Smashing: 120%(100%)
Lethal: 120%(100%)
Fire: 100%
Cold: 100%
Energy: 110%(100%)
Negative: 90%
Toxic: 90%
Psionic: 50%
Therefore the only thing you can damage him with becomes Negative and Toxic at 10% effectiveness and Psionic at 50% effectiveness.
Obviously resistance debuffs and psi damage are the biggest boon here even though you cant debuff the 100% values(damage resistance acts as resistance debuff resistance)
Another huge help is a Kinetic or two spamming Siphon Speed for it's unresistable -20% recharge, to keep his unstoppable down as much as possible.
Any slows will help of course, but almost all slows will have to go through his 85% Slow resistance check(at level 50)
Always helps to have a fort, psi dmg is nice. Never really had a problem with him though, can't remember the last time lg took more then 30 mins for me

Rock, rock on Hamster.
TL;DR: DPS and debuffs. Even with a less-than-perfect team everyone full on attacking can get you a long way.
I once one a team which was down to five people by the last mission (we had started with eight). One left fairly early on because the kids he was babysitting was annoying him. We weren't concerned about him going.
Can't remember what happened to number seven. Bit worrying but .. well six of us, ok.
* The team was me (on a fire/kin CORRUPTOR - the only one able to do any type of healing), a tank and I think the rest were scrappers. I don't think we had any blasters. Hami was a nightmare.*
I don't recall if it was before or after Hami, but we lost member number six when he decided to go to the base for inspirations. Yep, you read above right, we were a mixed team and he dropped when leaving the RWZ.
Well we were all tired but we'd been at this for a long time and didn't want to quit. We thought we could do it, so we went on. Even with the less than optimal team make up.
Hro'Dtohz wasn't too bad. The tank tanked, scrappers dealt damage and I alternated fire with syphons and heals etc. Wasn't the quickest but persistance paid off and down he went.
But then the Honoree.
We KNEW he was going to be a pain. He usually is and with the remaining team make up even more so.
So we pounded. Got him down a bit. He regenerated. We pounded, got him down, he regenerated.
Picture the scene: I'm doing an impression of a bad emapth with my heal on auto, SBing people every 90 seconds so it never drops, using FS, and both syphons every time they're up. And dodging in and out of melee to catch some Transference because my endurance bar was taking a major hit. Sometimes I even got to chuck a fireball.
The tank stood toe to toe with the big H and the other three pounded on him from behind. All of them were on him full whack. No afking, no munching a snack, just full on doing what they could.
We pounded, got him down, he regenerated. But not QUITE as much to heal all the damage we were doing.
I don't know how long that final fight lasted. I DO know it was 4.30am when we finished it but there was no way I was quitting that team. Awesome guys to stick with it. Fantastic playing by them all and no one - no one - suggested we should give up at that final fight. We all knew we could do it. Eventually. We all earnt our merits that night.
However, while that felt great to finish that TF; debuffs are your friend.

Are you sure one wasn't a brute or something? You can go to base and other zones as long as all members of the team are the same faction, red or blue.
Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...
His [Honoree.Unstoppable] lasts for 3m20s with a 4m5s recharge, which gives you about 45 seconds to use everything you have on him. Anybody who has holds should use them at the same time during this point and possibly give you more time to kill him before he has a chance to reactivate it.
It can take some time to get the timing right, but it is possible even without debuffs. I hope you have better luck with it next time. |
"Beating the Honoree" sounds like a euphamism for something.

You just had an unlucky mix of teammates. Most random pick-up groups will have what's needed.
I gotta make pain. I gotta make things right. I gotta stop what's comin'. 'Least I gotta try.
I understand how the Honoree can be a pain, depending on group composition. Since at Champions we have Thursday mothership raids, its easy to get lots of Vanguard Merits, and I make sure all o fmy alts have the HVAC robot. It is nice to have them as a back up capability for instances just as Honoree becoming to tough for the group, because we are shy on debuff.
Usually a single HVAC is enough to provide the debuffs needed to defeat the Honoree.

Aye the first time I fought him our team was mostly damage with some Tankage and my Illusion/Stormie and he was a bit of a grind.
Second time was with my Warshade and at least 3 strong Regen debuffers (Dark. Cold and Rad I think) and he was horribly violated within about 2 minutes. I actually felt sorry for him.

Granted that is not as great as having huge -regen but you still should (keyword) have been able to take him down. Or maybe this was before they fixed the TF. Before you could be 35 and SK up but you would be doing crap damage. Too many lowbies was a recipe for disaster before they fixed it.
Has this ever happened to you? At the final mission of the Lady Grey task force, everything is going great. Hro'Dtohz is a sinch, the generators get destroyed and then... wailing on a huge sack of HP until the whole team quits out of frustration.
Seriously, what is up with the Honoree? He's nearly impossible to damage, and whenever he gets down to a sliver of health, he pops his hour long Unstoppable, with no crash. I haven't been on a team that's been able to beat him yet.
Anybody got any tips or tricks on how to beat this guy? I just can't manage to do it. I've tried this TF three times before, and have failed all of them because of the Honoree.
This may sound like an angry rant, and it slightly is, but I really want to know how to beat this guy. I haven't been able too yet and its really irking me.
