PVP IO farm - Semi Nerf

From the patch notes:

"NPC critters that are resurrected will be unselectable while going through the resurrection animation."

This also applies to PC characters as I found out this morning briefly after the patch. This means players who farm PVP IOs using targetted attacks will loose their target when it rezzes so you will no longer be able to AFK farm unless you have pets or use Damage Auras or non-targetted PBAOE attacks.

Have fun!

At this point they really just need to scrap the current pvpo drop system and start fresh. If they want people to stop farming them just make more of them drop. Its not a complicated thought process.

Duel me.
I will work on my sig pic more when I have time.

Can't you just wedge your tab key down while you AFK farm?

or I macro?

Yeah, just increase the drop rate for the stupid things. I don't think there have been any glad jav procs on the market for days...and if I already had mine and happened to get 1 from a drop, why would I bother putting it on the market? I'd probably be smarter if I sold it off-market for even more crazy inf since the demand is obviously really high. But our devs' solution is to try to limit the supply even more? mkay

so now u will lose ur target if they rez ?

So I am semi lost on the farm idea. My understanding is that no more PvP IO's drop in arena to eliminate that form of farming. So now zones must be used AND there must be a specific amount of rep when killing a target to be able to get drop? So basicly you have to kill someone with rep., in zone? sorry, just don't get it.

first off, I think PvP IO's are a good idea, with that said, if PvP IO's were meant to be an incentive to PvP, I can't see the current system does that. I definitely wouldn't PvP if my primary goal was to get PvP IO's.

@Tight Tod

I can't speak for the arena, but in zones there is a chance for a pvp io recipe
drop for any kill that would award you rep against a player within (3?) levels
of you...

Since PvP zones automatically exemplar everyone to a particular level (L25 in BB,
L30 in SC, L38 in WB, and L50 in RV) the level requirement is a non-factor
in zones.

Once you kill a player, there's a 5 minute window before killing him again would
count for rep (or io drops).

As far as salvage drops are concerned, any kill gives you a chance for it whether
it is a rep-valid kill or not... But IO recipes must be rep-valid kills.

@DemonSeries

Yes. You lose the target box for a few seconds on player rez - same as it currently
happens when Freaks rez in PvE.

Actually this change currently only affects PvE.

Wrong. It does affect player targets but it seems only some self-rezzes are affected.

If you kill an opponent every 2 minutes, does the 5 minute rep clock restart for each kill? Or will you have the chance for another drop the third time since that kill will be at the 6 minute mark?

Well I guess I am just lucky then. Is there a list of which ones do/don't work?

It doesn't restart the clock, so according to your scenario, yes, you would be eligible for a PvPIO at the 6-minute mark. Killing every 2.5 or 1.7 minutes is best as you can still get salvage drops even if the kill doesn't count for rep or IO drops.

Never argue with stupid people. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

There is a second timer not that it matters since they drop so infrquently. There is a 10 min drop timer as well so if you get a drop then kill again 5 min later you are rep eligble but not drop eligable.

I'm currently still learning my way with PvP and PvP drops. So let me get this straight you all are saying that you can no longer get a PvP drop in the Arena?

You can, yes.
