Winner of the Architect Challenge!

Hello Architects!

I have to say, you really made the job of picking a winner for this round incredibly difficult. I started to think that everyone here was working with Television to make my life harder. All of the arcs submitted were top-notch, so it was very difficult to choose one that was the best. I played the top arcs out of all the submissions several times before finally concluding the winner.

But, there can only be one winner, and here it is!

Night Calls The Weaver - By Sister Twelve - ID 375420

A chance meeting with an old woman on the streets of Kings Row leads your hero into a plot 23 years in the making... and into the forgotten story of a heroine who deserves to be remembered.

Sister Twelve definitely threw in something that was unexpected for this arc. The story is very subtle, with multiple storylines running through the background to bring you to the very end - one of the more influential stories involving the loss of a hero's power. The arc's story is detailed and personal to the player playing it, as well having cameos from well known signature characters. Those who play through the story will be well-rewarded at the end, especially with it helping to kick off the rest of your hero's career.

As I said earlier, all of the arcs were very well done for the contest. All of you that submitted stories should be proud of the work you've done, and I hope you continue to keep the arcs you made up for other people to play! They all provide a good amount of fun for players at low levels and interesting branching stories for new characters to start with their own characters.

Until next time, Architects!

You're definitely not an "unknown author" now. Congratulations on another win, and keep making great arcs!

Congrats. I really wish the Prof would provide runners up though. If they were that good I want to see them too.

Having someone else help you find the worthwhile missions is a big help. The list of submissions is a help but not exactly compact for easy reference lol. Also doesn't preclude dreck.

You can't please everyone, so lets concentrate on me.

Congratulations!

Bad Voodoo by @Beyond Reach. Arc ID #373659. Level 20-24. Mr. Bocor has fallen victim to a group of hooded vigilantes who have been plaguing Port Oakes, interfering with illegal operations and pacifying villain's powers. He demands that revenge is taken on these miscreants and his powers are returned! You look like just the villain for the job. Challenging.

I tried to make the list of submissions as compact as possible (title, author, arc ID, and synopsis) - however, if you've got recommendations on how to trim it down more I'd be happy to try it as a template for the third challenge listings!

And I agree, I'd like to see runner-ups next time around!

He had runners up for the last one, he just waited a few weeks to announce them. I imagine a few of this round will also become Dev's Choices on their own merits.

Thank you, everyone.

Special thanks to Wrong Number, Backfire, Tubby, and Sum and everyone else who took the time to play this repeatedly. Especially thanks to all of the MA Team for taking the time to help me polish this. I think it is just awesome that we have such a great community of authors that we'll do that for each other at the same time that we're competing with each other.

Everyone provided great feedback... even the tough stuff that made me take a hard look at how I was approaching the story's structure and whether I was needlessly padding it.

Thanks to Dr. Aeon for having the competition. You're doing an awesome job as a Dev and you're really putting in the extra effort to keep Mission Architect one of the best tools for players ever introduced into a game.

You guys are great and I really needed this this week. I found out that my position at DSS is being pulled, which means I have to find another job by May 31, which is a bummer, but coming home to see this news is truly awesome.

Thanks so much again.

Gratz!

This is a really great arc. I loved what you did with the newspaper articles.
I am really happy for you.

Congratulations, Sister Twelve. I'll have to try your arc out soon

I didn't know there was a place where arcs were being submitted past just emailing them Dark_Respite. I had submitted one as well if you want to add it to the list for anyone wanting to try it.

Title: "Bad Vibes"
Arc ID: 379256
Author: @Lycantropus
Synopsis: What starts out as helping War Witch aid an old friend, turns into a desperate fight to save the heroes of Paragon City!

"I play characters. I have to have a very strong visual appearance, backstory, name, etc. to get involved with a character, otherwise I simply won't play it very long. I'm not an RPer by any stretch of the imagination, but character concept is very important for me."- Back Alley Brawler
I couldn't agree more.

Wasn't a formal thing, Lyc. More just a convenient place to have as many entries in one place as possible for folks who wanted to play through the submissions. I hope to do it again for the third challenge if/when that happens.

Congratulations Sister Twelve!

I ran your story arc several times during the contest. You improved and polished it and turned it into a great story arc.

Congrats, S12--it was definitely well-earned! I'm loving going through everyone's arcs, but yours had a great twist with the newspaper articles. (Usually those mission clues are pretty tiresome, but I actually looked forward to these!) And your portrayal of the Hellions was really great as well...it was kinda spooky seeing them as having such depraved indifference to their victims, rather than just being gang members and a low-level nuisance.

Congrats again! Enjoy the win! :-)
